[Flexradio] Using MMTTY and APRS with two Sound Cards(HELP)

2008-09-02 Thread Howard Benjamin
I am using the FlexRadio 1K with the Delta M44 sound card and operate MMTTY
sucessfully via The VAC software. However, I am having probems in connecting
my external VHF radioAPRS to the built in Realtec soundcard. I have tried
the control panel sounds and audio devices but can only get either the M44
or realtec soundcards to work independently.

The probem is to get the MMTTY to work via the VAC from the Flex 1K and to
get the APRS audio from my VHF receiver to connect via the mic or line jack
on the PC to the realtec or even to the Delta M44.

Can anyone please help?

[Flexradio] X2 control problem - SDR-1K Ext Linear Amp.

2007-10-30 Thread Howard Benjamin
I have just developed a problem when switching my linear amp using X2 Pin 7. My
linear amp is an HLA 300.

The system has worked well for past 6 months but now when going to MOX with
X2TR on, it does not switch the amp on. I have read the notes about coupling
the switching control and all voltage /currents are within allowable limits.
The darlington transistors rating of 50v/500mA are not exceeded so I have not
used an external relay.

My linear amp control has just +3.8v on control line and requires a ground for
operation. Only a few milliamps are flowing when grounding voltage on base of
linear amp switching transistor. When I measure the X2 control line pin 7 when
connected I get 3.8v on rx and 0.6V on tx when switched (MOX). I assume that
the ULN2003AD is faulty as the amp needs zero volts to switch on. Manually
grounding the linear amp contol line works normally.

I have also checked some other X2 pins and when software enabled I measure 0v
when unticked and 0.6v when ticked on receive using DVM.

The Flex 1k unit is still under warranty but I can execute repair if you please
advise the next procedure and can supply spare.

Regards

Howard Benjamin 5B4AHX.

[Flexradio] Audio Clicking on PowerSDR v1.10.2 on Transmit

2007-09-23 Thread Howard Benjamin
I have been testing my Hampal Digital SSTV software with SDR-1000.

When transmitting a carrier on TUNE (10Watts), I get an audio click which is
on the carrier and repeats erraticly. I am monitoring using a separate
receiver(s). Sometimes it repeats the audio click within a few seconds or maybe
up to about 40 seconds later. This must be a difficult problem to find. I have
checked all my hardware connections and it only happens with the above software
version. My PowerSDR Beta v1.9.1 and earlier versions do not exhibit this
fault. It would be unnoticeable on voice but can corrupt up a digital
transmission.

The fault occurs when on any mode, i.e, USB,LSB,CWU,CWL,DIGU,DIGL.etc, and
whether Hampal is closed or not. I have checked my settings on each PowerSDR
version and using the following settings:-

Audio buffer size 1024
DSP buffer size 2048
DMA buffer DeltaM44 size 256
Sample rate96Khz

I have tried altering the above.

Can anyone please help?

[Flexradio] Noise on Changing Frequency above 20M Band

2007-08-30 Thread Howard Benjamin
I have noticed a high noise level generated when changing frequency only on
bands above the 20M band, especially when using the sliding mouse. The noise
generated is as high as 15dB above the noise floor. This is the same on all
versions of software that I have used so far. Has anyone else had this problem
or do I have a PC installation defect?

Re: [Flexradio] Problem calibrating frequency.

2007-08-11 Thread Howard Benjamin
Hi Dan

The problem in my case is the software for reasons that the Beta 1.9 is not
compatible with the Ver 1.8 so far as calibration is concerned. Maybe the
mod you did is tied up with the software not being compatible.

I sent a message to Ed at Flex and he got back to me immediately. For me,
I determined that problem was NOT related to the software which ended up
being correct.

The issue I had with instability related to the crystal heater and he had
me disconnect one of the wires inside the SDR1000. My system is now
stable. It took a couple emails but I'm fairly well satisfied. He also
has me marked down as having this problem and will send new parts if the
 problem happens again.

So, you might want to contact flex directly.

 Hello,
Has anyone of you got an answer for this problem ?
Dozens and dozens of mails on the reflector but no one seems to care at
Flex about our problem. I can understand that the 5000 is their first
priority. But they could at least say they are going to check it,
 couldn't they ?
Are we the only four with this problem ? I would not think so. There
must be more people that have tried Beta 1.9.1. and detected the same
problem. Or do the other just don't care ?
I am beginning to think that The new software is now specific for the
5000 and that the 1000 will run on it as well but with some set backs.
If anyone of you has more news, I would like to hear from you.

[Flexradio] Freqency Calib Inop

2007-08-02 Thread Howard Benjamin
I have just tried the new Power SDR Beta v1.9.1 and cannot calibrate the
frequency as I do with v1.8. When I check 'calibrate' I get a message 'Peak is
outside valid range'. My receiver is out of calibration by 160Hz against my
reference. Can anyone help?
