[Flexradio] Tmate tuning knob

2011-01-15 Thread Myrlen Smith
Is anyone using the Tmate knob and Tmate Plus software from Woodbox Radio?
If so how do you like it and what is the cpu usage.

I've heard Flex is working on a tuning knob is there any truth to that?

Thanks,
Smitty / W3SDR

[Flexradio] Flex-5000 package for sale

2007-12-20 Thread Myrlen Smith
I'm offering to the group first my Flex-5000 in absolutely mint condition.
It receives and transmits perfectly with no issues along with
a Dell Dimension E310 desktop computer. 3 gig of ram and 1 gig memory with pci
fire wire card. Matrox two monitor external video adapter. 2 Dell 17 inch
monitors and the Dell speakers with subwoofer. The computer runs the 5000 and
PowerSDR very nicely at a 15% average cpu load at 96 khz.
This package will also include the V2 shuttle pro and the griffin knob.
Interested parties contact me off the reflector.

Thanks

[Flexradio] Flex 5K/PW-1

2007-10-29 Thread Myrlen Smith
Hi all,

I have my new Flex 5000 and would like to interface it with my Icom PW-1
amplifier.
Could someone guide me through the proper way to hook the two units together
not only
for keying but for automatic band changing as well.
Thank You.

Re: [Flexradio] SDR drive power

2007-03-16 Thread Myrlen Smith
Hi Mike,

The profile doesn't make any difference. I've even tried the conventional
setting which is identical to the Icom but the reports are the same.

  Hi Smitty,

Just curious, are you using the Enhanced SSB profile?

If so, do they say the same about the DX/Contest profile?

If you are transmitting a significant part of your
power at the low and high frequencies not in their
passband, it may be heard as not as loud.

I would have probably never knew this if some local hams didn't bring this to
my attention. And after looking into it further I see what they mean. They have
sent me recording of my audio which seem fine but seems to be lacking the audio
punch of the Icom and the signal is at least 2 S units lower. And after reading
the peak power in comparision to the Icom and the way it drives the SG-500 amp
I see they haven't been pulling my leg.

[Flexradio] Fw: [SPAM] Fw: Fw: SDR drive power

2007-03-16 Thread Myrlen Smith
Well Tim I'm using a Delta 44 and a FA-66 which are the recommended sound cards
and are preset.
So the output voltage and test are not shown in the audio setup screen.

The RF output seems fine it's the ssb talk power that's lacking something. I
would have probably never knew this if some local hams didn't bring this to my
attention. And after looking into it further I see what they mean. They have
sent me recording of my audio which seem fine but seems to be lacking the audio
punch of the Icom and the signal is at least 2 S units lower. And after reading

I really don't know what to try next. Help anyone!!

Yes,

Have you checked the AC voltage output from your sound cards to see if
that matches the value in the Audio setup screen? Having low voltage
will result in low RF output

What soundcard are you using? If using the Delta 44, it could be that
you
don't have enough Signal to Noise on the mic input. What does the Mic
setting on the TX Meter read when you are transmitting. It should be
peaking around 0dB to get full output. Also, make sure that your
drive is
set to 100 and that you have calibrated the PA on the band on which
you are
  transmitting.

[Flexradio] SDR drive power

2007-03-15 Thread Myrlen Smith
I have a question for the group maybe some have had this issue.

My drive power on ssb seems to be down 10 db in comparing it to my 756pro. I've
made these tests on all bands so its not band related or antenna related.

On key down both rigs are in 5-10 watts of one another but on ssb the 756pro
seems to double the SDR's readings on my outboard peak reading meter.

On different bands with local hams they have all told me the 756pro is at least
two S units higher than the SDR-1000.

I recently hooked up a SG-500 amp to the SDR and found out the rig will drive
the amp on cw at 40 watts in and 500 out but on ssb it would not drive the amp
at that level, I had to set the drive at 100 to drive it to 500 watts.

Now keeping all the above in mind the SDR-1000 and SG-500 together give the
same signal strength as the 756pro with no amp.

I have done the power calibration a couple of times and the mic meter on the
SDR reads 0 to + like it should so I'm at a lose on what to try next.

In fact I have to SDR's and they both have this issue. On the one I'm using a
Behringer UB-802 with a Delta 44 and the other SDR I use the Edirol FA-66.

I've also tried the mic boost but that just increases the back round noise.

I hope I explained this well enough so anyone can give me some ideas.

Thanks
Smitty WB3IAL

[Flexradio] Operations manual

2007-02-02 Thread Myrlen Smith
Thanks to John, Dale, Ken, Alan for your replies.
It turns out that I had to go to Internet Explorer directly to get the download
to work.
I have always used MSN which is supplied by Verizon online which uses Internet
Explorer. I've used MSN for all downloads in the past without a problem. But it
doesn't seem to work on FlexRadio's new site for some reason.
But anyhow I have it and I'm in the printing process.

[Flexradio] Operations manual

2007-02-02 Thread Myrlen Smith
Hello all,

I've been trying to download the Operations manual v1.8.0 in PDF so I could
print it out.
But I can't get anything downloaded. I view my download manager and it received
0 bytes of information. So I tried several other items on the site and again
received nothing.
Is there a problem with the site? And yes I was logged in.

Thanks

Has anyone ever interfaced a SDR-1000 to a PW-1 amplifier?
If so could you give details on the arrangement?

[Flexradio] Audio output drop

2006-10-13 Thread Myrlen Smith
I have noticed a severe drop in output volume with either of my SDR,s. On one I
use a Presonus firebox in which I noticed the audio drop around svn 681 - 683.
I can't be exact but it was around the time the dual receive was implemented.
And with the other SDR I use a Delta 44 but I didn't notice any change in the
receive audio volume until I downloaded 1.6.3 beta and svn 701. My previous
svn's where 687 and 692 in which the volume was fine on them.
Has any one noticed this similar issue ?

  Hi Bob,

The way you explained it made total sense. My opposite to com 6 is com 16.
Leaving Power SDR set to com 6 I changed Win-EQF com port to 16 and everything
is working great. Thanks a lot.

Smitty,

I think you probably have a wrong port selected for WIN-EQF. The virtual
ports are like null-modem cables, you hook the SDR1K to one port, the
third-party program to the matching other end (port). Take a close look a
the vCom Configurator, the ports pairs to use are directly opposite one
another on the Configurator, connected by a blue line and a "use" checkbox.
If 6 is opposite 7, set the SDR1K CAT control to port 6 and WIN-EQF to port
7.

The TS-2000 emulation is compatible with other Kenwood types but has more
commands. You can try selecting different radio types on the CAT setup menu
to see which works the best. Do not use the SDR-1000 emulation with
anything other than HRD as it contains many special commands and can really
slow things down.

There are several papers on the FlexRadio web site to help guide you through
the setup.

Bob, K5KDN

Is anyone using the SDR with WIN-EQF logging software?
I downloaded N8VB vcom driver and it tells me I have ports
6,7,8,9,16,17,18,19.
When I go into power SDR setup cat control it gives me the same ports as
above.
So I setup everything in cat control per the Flex radio manual and setup
WIN-EQF to match com6, baud 57,600,
parity none, data 8, stop 1. I get a error message "Problem opening port com
6 for rig 1". On Win-EQF's logging window it says Kenwood offline.
In WIN-EQF setup the rig selection says Kenwood not TS-2000 is there a
difference between the protocol of the TS-2000 and earlier Kenwood radios?

Thanks
