[Flexradio] VAC1,VAC2

2013-06-03 Thread n1naz

Hello
Is there a way to have both VAC1 and VAC2 active? I cant seem to get VAC2 to
un-ghost so I can select it. This is with the flex 3000 and PowerSDR 2.6.4
Although it was the same with 2.6.3.
I have to VAC’s setup in the VAC program.

I cant find anything in the Manual the forums or KB. (but that doesn’t mean
anything)

[Flexradio] Owners Manual

2013-05-25 Thread N1naz
Case in point, if you open up Power SDR, then Setup, then DSP. Under the
Options tab is “Leak” What does “Leak” do?? There is no explanation in the docs
that explain in detail what it does! What do I have to spend time searching
through update docs and forums to find out?
This was obviously added after the docs where published, what would it have
taken to add this to the docs and republish?
Yes after playing around with it for a few hours and listening you may
figure it out, but wouldn’t it have been a time saver to know before you
adjusted this what it actually did!

There are other cases like this.

I’m just saying that the Flex radios are the best thing out there right now
(IMO), Why fall short with the docs?

[Flexradio] Owners Manual

2013-05-24 Thread N1naz
All well and good for the experienced SDR operator, who over the years has Kept
up with and as you say updated their manuals, but New operators trying to make
heads or tails of things is another matter.

If you are going to bring out a product that is going to be, by nature,
constantly changing then you have to deal with updating your user manuals as
new features are added and old ones disappear. Or at minimum release addendums.

[Flexradio] Owners Manual

2013-05-24 Thread N1naz
Kind of unacceptable don’t you think? There has been so many changes to all of
the flex line of radios and PowerSDR that the present manuals only touch on the
basics and some of them are now very misleading or outright wrong!
More time and money needs to be spent on keeping these manuals up to date. Even
the Wiki page is out of date!

Jon,

What is listed on the web site is the latest version of all FLEX series
SDR manuals.

George,

Ref Mar 2 question.>

I experienced [apparently] the same problem with my 3000. I note that the wide
band interference was not stable, it started above the 60 meter band then as
time marched on it would travel down in frequency, lower than 60 meters. I
also had other spurs on 80 meters moving around..>

I have screen shots I can send you. I placed a spectrum analyzer on the
antenna jack and found other spurs from the 3000. I sent the 3000 to the Flex
hospital and flex replace a chip. I don't have the RMA in front of me, but if
you ask I will dig it out.

Let me know how I can help. I can send you screen shots.> Tim was very
helpful as were the Techs.

[Flexradio] carrier/burdies

2013-03-02 Thread N1naz
Hello
While tuning around the 60 meter band this evening I came across a very strong
carrier on 5.419 MHz +-. This is definitely emanating from my/the Flex 3000 or
its interface. I can tune it in on another radio and when I shut down PSDR it’s
still there, BUT when I shut down the Flex 3000 it goes away. Anyone else has
this or has experienced this? I also think its creating birdies/spurious
signals plus and minus from this frequency, across much of the 60 meter and 40
meter band.
Is there and internal Oscillator running at this freq? I would imagine that if
its something inside my computer generating this than it would still be there
when I shut the 3K off.

Any help would be appreciated.

any recommendations for, and info on setting this up, what have you used?

Excellent piece of Hardware and software the 6000 series is, very
impressive! A real quantum leap forward in Ham Space tech.

Anyone know if they are (FlexRadio) still working on improvements to their
existing line of radios and PowerSDR? or is everything being thrown at the
6000 line.

Nice video for sure. I remember a few years back when Gerald mentioned that
they had only scratched the surface of what the FLEX 5000 could do. Have
they finished scratching the surface?

Very True.

Not all Rb references are created equal. Many have excessive phase noise.
The FE-5680A appears to be one such. The LPRO-101 is one of the better Rb
references. You want one where the lamp voltage is above 7V.

Do a search online for Ground loop Isolators, There used a lot for
eliminating ground loops on car stereo systems. Usually about $10-$30.
Picked up mine at Best Buy. Basically their just 2 (R + L channels 1:1
transformers) usually with RCA jacks on them. I use them here for combining
all my Rigs (4) outputs and fed them into an Audio Amp the to speakers.
Here is a link to my Audio/PTTsetup for my station
