[Flexradio] Missing Waterfall

2013-06-17 Thread NU8Z
Just got back from a 3 week vacation. Booted up Computer and rig (Flex 5000)
and found that my waterfall and panfall no longer shows up in Power SDR
2.4.4. display. Just black space where waterfall signals should show.

I reviewed the archives and did the complete reboot that was suggested. (No
Joy)
Also checked the Waterfall display settings. They are correct and no joy.
All else works well. Just can see the waterfall.

Anybody out there have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Re: [Flexradio] THP 1.5kfx

2010-10-15 Thread NU8Z
I have been using DDUtil to control a THP HL-1.5KFX Amp. I have had the amp
in the Kenwood mode and I'm using the DDUtil Passive listener mode and a
RS232 cable. Works great. DDUtil controls the band switching on the amp with
no problem. Regardless of what the instruction say, I use straight thru
connections. The null modem crossover wiring did not work.

Re: [Flexradio] CW grief, a solution?

2010-09-21 Thread NU8Z
Ditto here!

I'm very pleased with CW using PowerSDR 1.18.6 I have tried the new beta
PowerSDR V2.0 and subsequent updates with unsatisfactory CW keying and I
reverted back. The V2.0 is beta software and I'm sure they are working to
improve CW performance. I look forward to the other features and the new
skins look. But good CW performance is the #1 priority for me also. We will
give them time to get it right!

Pete,

I am primarily a cw op and had been very satisfied with the cw keying
performance of my 3000 until I upgraded to PowerSDR V2.0

Since the upgrade, I have experienced the same annoying popping and
crackling of
my cw keying and I can't seem to get it fixed. I am running Windows XP on a

Quad core from Neal Campbell - tuned for optimum Flex performance. The
problem
persists even if I reduce the F3K output to zero.

My break-in keying was flawless with PowerSDR Ver 1.86 and I thought that I
would have the same result with the Ver 2.0 but that has not been the case.
I
have tried numerous adjustments and suggestions from past postings but to no

avail.

I am hoping to find a solution - since CW is my mainstay, I really want to
get
this resolved.

Re: [Flexradio] OT: Upgrading to Win7?

2010-09-16 Thread NU8Z
Gents,

I like Windows 7. I have on my personal business computer. My radio
computer still has XP pro, but I'm going to be upgrading radio computer in
near future. I have all the components and I'm ready to roll.
I know at one time the conventional wisdom was to stick with XP for flex
use. Is this still the case?

I'm thinking of loading Windows 7 (32 bit home premium with 4 gig of ram.)
What say you computer gurus?
Is this a safe move at this time.

Second Question: Any advantage (or disadvantage) to going with 64 bit?

Your input is appreciated.

Thanks es 73

Hi All

The issue of using the full 4GB of memory in selecting 64 bit versus 32 bit
isn't so straightforward. Most systems (i.e. bios) will reserve memory for
devices, etc. On the system I just assembled for a customer, there were
enough devices installed that it took an entire GB of capacity so the
operating system only had 3GB to see (which is below the maximum 3.2GB
visible anyway). Besides, you will never see the difference between 4GB and
3.2GB in operation. I can also say that Win7 x64 seems slower on a 4GB
system than a Win7x86 system does with 3.2GB.

I have seen some real weirdness with vendors supporting Win7 and especially
Win7x64. Weird in that they are not actively developing drivers for their
current product line even though WinXP is dead! Things like printers (as
mentioned before), scanners, webcams, etc.

I still recommend 32 bit Win7, its just an easier transition.

[Flexradio] Amp Tuner Interfacing -?

2010-05-17 Thread NU8Z
I have been using DDUtil to control a THP HL-1.5KFX Amp. I have had the amp
in the Kenwood mode and I'm using the DDUtil Passive listener mode and a
RS232 cable. All has been working well. DDUtil controls the band switching
on the amp with no problem.

Now I will be adding a Palstar AT-Auto tuner to the mix. (just ordered) I
was thinking of just paralleling the RS-232 or in essence running a Y
cable to simultaneously control the AT-Tuner using the same passive listener
settings from DDUtil.

Question #1: Does this sound like the best route to take? Are others doing
this successfully?

Question # 2: Are there others out there using the THP HL-1.5KFX and
Palstar AT-TUNER with some other setup?
I have read that some are using the CV-I level converters. Is this a better
way to go? The HL-1.5KFX also has a Icom mode and I see that the AT-Tuner
has CV-I jacks.

My end objective is to have both the amp and the tuner controlled by one com
port via DDUtil. I would also like to still be able to have the tuner in
the controlled auto mode, even if the amp is off. I'm also interested in
the method that is the most efficient in terms of data exchange and
dependability.

Does anyone have any suggestions or input one which way to control the amp
and tuner?

I thank you in advance for your help.

Re: [Flexradio] Fwd: More Flex in contesting

2009-12-11 Thread NU8Z
I was also a long time user of Logic. Started back with Logic 1 or 2 (can't
remember). I think Logic is an excellent logging program. If it were not for
the issues ( I had) with interfacing the Flex with it, I would likely still
be using it.

Now that being said, because of the issues I gave DXLabs a try. I made the
conversion about 3 years ago and have not looked back. All went smooth. I
did lose some of my QSO notes from Logic in the transfer, but made no
special effort to save them. There are some adif data massaging programs
that could be used to maybe prevent that from happening. I made the
transition knowing that I could always go back to Logic and put more effort
into resolving the issue with the flex interfacing.
When I first made the change to DxLabs I had a bit of switchers remorse,
but that lasted about 2 days! Then I was hooked.

The bottom line is that DX Labs is an amazing program. ( and it's free -
with incredible product support) Regardless of what radio I was using,
If I knew what I know now about this program I would have made the switch.

I'm a happy camper

Fair enough. The issue with the logger is the ease of configuration. Many
hams are intimidated by messing with CAT commands.

Also, there is a much higher risk of an error compared to a visual interface
that clearly defines the configuration.

What you have described, i.e. sending all the commands to change the antenna

Re: [Flexradio] OT

2009-06-23 Thread NU8Z
All this old computer reminiscing reminds me of my ole Digital Group Z80
machine. I built it from a kit. I could not afford a floppy drive. I had the
ole audio tape FSK system and then graduated to a set of twin Phi Decks.
These were small cassette drives that attempted to run like the big digital
drives. What a nightmare to keep running! I remember how high tech I was
when I got 16K of memory (Two big boards with 8K each)
I was humbled when the Commodore 64 came out. It put the Digital Group
machine to shame and was only the size of the DG's keyboard.

Anybody out there ever build one of the digital group systems? (Mid 70's I
think?)

Mine never did that before. Another interesting point is that I have not

I'm not sure why yours is doing that.

I have a different drive for almost every band.
I set them so that I max at exactly a KW when using the amp.

I can click through the progression of buttons on Band-HF and watch the
drive change with each selection.

And unless I change the drive level on purpose, the next time I start PWSDR
it seems to 'remember' my choice for each band.

I 'thought' that was a database memory item, but I may be confused...I
didn't take my massive dose of Aricept yet today.

Re: [Flexradio] Huge latency spikes

2009-02-17 Thread NU8Z

This may be nothing, but I can't help but notice that there have been a
number of issues mentioned on the reflector lately regarding DPC's.
I have never had a problem with hang ups or stutters and cutouts until
recently. (The last week) I have recently had some minor sputters and
cutouts.
Although, I have had no issues with lock ups. I have always run multiple
programs, Power SDR, VAC, VCOM, DXLab (with all programs modules open
including WW and DX Atlas) and have had no problems. That is, with the
exception of the last week. As mentioned, I have had some issues, but based
on what I have read they are minor.

Now the question. My computer did some automatic upgrades last week. I think
there were 4 or 5 items. One upgrade was .net framework 3.5 SP1 and the
others were security related. I remember one of the security fixes was for
internet explorer. The only thing I know for sure, is the time I started
having these issues seems to be right in line with the time I made these
upgrades. This also ties in with a increased number of reported issues on
the reflector. Just a coincidence or possibly is there a link to these
upgrades. Everyone loves a conspiracy theory! May be nothing, but had to
ask?

 Alan,

First off CPU utilization is a poor metric to use when debugging
DPCs. Your culprit is probably either the UPS-monitoring utility
and/or the CA Internet Security suite issuing a call to make some
component hardware do something. For me, it is MS Outlook that is
the trigger for long duration DPCs.

With all DPC issues, make sure all of your hardware drivers are up
to date along with the BIOS and mobo chipset drivers.

Good luck in finding the needle in the proverbial haystack.

I have been experiencing this too. I had gone to all the trouble to
turn everything off on my machine dedicated to running the F5K and DPC
latency was running around 400us worst case. This machine has no
security software, runs no web browser, no mail user agent, etc. It
runs PSDR, VAC, com0com, and either DM780 or fldigi, period.

Within the last couple of weeks I have started having this freezing
problem again with DPC latency popping up to 4000us. Switching from
normal mode to safe mode 1 has solved the problem but I am more
concerned with the fact that something has changed but I haven't
changed anything (except versions of the aforementioned programs and
Microsoft WinXP updates). Annoying.

So this is a problem that had been solved and now has regressed for
some reason. I would sure like to know what has caused the change.

Nope.. I tried that. It of course changed the averaging sample rate, but did
not have an effect on the stability of the visual signal on the panadapter

tuning. I played with all the display settings with no effect on the issue.
I did find a couple of messages in the reflector that stated that the 5000
samples the the data at around 7 times a second (via the firmware) It states
that the SDR-1000 was 3 per second. That may be the differnce.
I love the radio. This is not a big problem. I just wondered whay there was
difference between the 1000 and the 5000.

Again, thanks for taking the time to reply.

Just upgraded from SDR-1000 to the 5000. So far I really
 like it!!

I do have one minor issue that I would like to inquire
 about. When I tune
using the mouse wheel at a faster rate (say 50hz) the cw signals on
the panadapter turn into a rolling wave as I tune toward the
 signal. It makes it
difficult to see the signal while tuning. It's not a
 biggie, but that was
not the case with the SDR-1000. The signals were always
 clearly defined on
the panadapter as I tuned, even at the faster rates.

I have the SR on (no difference when off) .
 Besides this, everything is great.

 Any suggestions?

Re: [Flexradio] knobs

2008-08-09 Thread NU8Z
Brian:

There was a time when I missed a knob, but that is no longer the case.

I use a Logitech LX3 mouse and a G-11 gaming keyboard. The mouse has a tilt
wheel for fast tuning. But that being said there are even better ones out
there, (Logitech VX series)

I use a modified version the hotwheel program that was created by OH2BFO.
The G-11 keyboard has 18 programmable keys. I programmed these keys to
control the number pad commands that are in the hotwheel program. The
hotwheel program can be configured to transfer the SDR keboard shortcuts to
the number pad. I have modified the Hotwheel program to perform the
functions that I want. I able to control the following functions on the
keyboard regardless of where the program focus is. I can be in the logging
program and still have complete control of my choice of 18 functions on the
SDR console (without the focus being on the SDR console). The functions that
I settled on are as follows: (these can be changed)

Tuning rate up
Tuning rate down
Rit up (for off freq stations)
RIT down (for off freq stations)
Focus (same as Alt +Tab but in one key stroke)
VFO AB
CW UP
CW Dn
Filter width up
Filter width Dn
AGC-T UP
AGC-T DN
Cycle Preamp
VFO AB
Set freq
Recall
Split
Volume up
Volume Dn

All the above and the mouse wheel (turn and tilt) allow me to do it all
(well the important stuff)
I did have the ability to change bands and modes programmed. But I gave that
up for other functions because I was able to that from the logging program.
My configuration is set up with contesting in mind. But, you could select
different hotwheel set ups for different operating preferences.

If for some reason I ever need to click on the SDR console like to perform
some function that I do not have programmed., all I have to do is hit the
focus button and I'm back to the logging program. The 18 extra keys are
located on the left side of the keyboard which in convenient. All keys are
labeled with a 1 template

It took a little time to set up and get use to it, but now I have absolutely
no desire for a knob of any kind. It would be to much effort to reach over
and turn it.. Hi

Subject: [Flexradio] knobs

I know, Real radios don't need knobs, but until you really change
the architecture of the system, they sure are nice to have. In fact,
the knobs are still there but you have to use a mouse to move them. My
Griffin Powermate VFO knob is still back ordered along with my second
RX so in the mean time I have been using the mouse to do all the
twiddling on the radio.

Personally I find the sliders annoying. I have finally set the AF gain
to a reasonable level and resorted to using the knob on the front of
the speakers. It is *much* more convenient than trying to grab the
volume slider on the screen with the mouse pointer. I can find and
turn that knob Right Now when my wife says something to me.

And tuning is a bit awkward as well. I find I use the mouse scroll-
wheel the most. I have it set to 100Hz/step so I can move pretty
rapidly across the band but even that is awkward as it is too corse
for final tuning of voice or CW (or anything) and too fine for moving
really rapidly. I am looking forward to that Griffin knob.

I have tried the point-n-click tuning but find I keep making the same
mistake (call it brain flatulence). I right click to enable then left
click on the signal in the pan display. But when I do that I never get
it quite right and my tendency is to want to grab the pan display
background with the left mouse pointer to drag-tune. Oops -- forgot to
right-click the tune pointer off. Of course, now I am nowhere near
where I was before and I wasn't paying attention to the exact
frequency so getting back is usually by guess and by god. (Oh, and I
keep thinking that I need to click where I want the BFO injection to
be, not in the center of the signal. Too clever for my own good, eh?)

OK, enough with the complaints. Let's be productive.

I want some knobs. I want real knobs too. There is something
ergonomically right about a knob in that you can find it in the dark
and feel where you are in its adjustment range when you are moving it
especially if it has some kind of detent or pointer. Yes, I suspect
that once we get to Bob's and Frank's cognitive radio we might not
need the knobs but for now, I want something I can grab-n-tweak
instead of drag-n-drop. Has anyone made PowerSDR work with any of the
MIDI control surfaces that are readily available? (I have a control
surface I use for recording.) I am also open to other ideas as well.

(Yes, I looked on the KB and FAQ but didn't find it. If it is there I
apologize for wasting people's time here. Thanks!)

BTW, one of the things I do for fun is design aircraft cockpits

[Flexradio] VAC Latency (on rtty)

2008-01-19 Thread NU8Z
Gentlemen:

I had heard some discussion on the reflector some time back regarding a
latency problem when using the VAC on RTTY.
There is a long delay between the request to transmit and the time that the
transmission of data starts.
My problem seems similar to others that were described on the reflector. If
I cycle the VAC on and off the the problem is cured (for a while). Over time
the latency problem returns.

Now the question. How do I fix the problem.? I have searched the reflector.
As I said I find some great descriptions of the problem, but can not find
the solution.
Did anybody solve this? And if so how??

I'm running the SDR-1000 with Edirol FA66 at 96khz

The VAC is at a 12000 Sample rate with a 512 buffer (At this setting I get
no popping on TX)

The VAC is set at

11025 - 96000 Sample rate
Max inst = 20
Ms per int = 4
Cable format

Re: [Flexradio] VAC Latency (on rtty)

2008-01-19 Thread NU8Z
Hello Tim:

Thanks for your interest in helping.

I'm using WinWarbler as my digital program, but have noticed the same thing
when running NN1M

The rig is keyed via the radio interface. It's important to note that the
rig keys right away. There is no delay in transitioning to the transmit
mode. The delay is waiting for the data to start flowing.

I'm using the 4.08 version of VAC

Observation: If I increase the VAC sample rate on the powerSDR audio/vac set
up it greatly improves the latency situation. For example, 48000 sample rate
with a 1024 buffer works good from the latency point of view. But the
problem is that I get some occasional popping (audio cut outs) on my
transmit audio at any sample rate other than 12000. At 12000 I get no
popping at all. 24000 rate I get very occasional popping and at 48000 sample
rate I get occasional pops

But as I said, running at the higher sample rates fixes the Latency problem.

Also, I'm running a Intel core 2 duo cpu running at 2.4ghz

Thanks Again

What digital mode program are you using?
How is the software setup to key the radio?
What is the VAC version you are using?

Re: [Flexradio] Mysterious Spur Visible on Panadaptor

2008-01-10 Thread NU8Z

Edwin:
Nice video, a picture truly is worth a 1000 words. See my observations
below.

I see and hear the exact same thing that you do and as demonstrated in your
video.
I'm also using the SDR1000 with an Eridol FA66, SVN 1801 at 96khz
I see and hear the spurs only when on the dummy load!(as you noted in the
video) When I connect the antenna the spurs are below the noise level and
cannot be seen or heard. This was the case on 40 and 80 meters.
On 20 meters and higher, I again saw the same thing that you noted. The
spurs were on the opposite sideband. On 20 meters when I switched to LSB I
could hear and see the spurs. They were really noticeable when on the dummy
load. When I connected the antenna (Force 12 C3 and Lighting Bolt Quad) I
could still barely hear the spurs just at the noise level (on LSB).

I don't know if all this is a problem. I always run with a antenna and on
the proper sideband when on the high bands. I don't know if what you (we)
have observed is normal. But it does not seem to effect the operation of the
radio as it normally would be used (I think). I would like to check for
the spurs on 40 and 80 when the band was really quite. It seems a bit noisy
tonight.

I have noticed spurs on all radios I have owned in the past when no antenna
was connected. Also I think that spurs are more likely on a SDR type of
radio. It is the nature of the beast. But with the spur reduction feature
you can eliminate or move them to where you are not. In the case of spurs
that can not be removed from the bandpass, I guess I don't care if they are
below the noise.

I would be interested to know if others see the same thing when conducting
the test exactly as you described doing it. Connected to a dummy load. (I
saw the same results with no antenna or the antenna grounded).

Best Regards
Mark NU8Z

Hi Folks,

I've uploaded a video of my panadaptor which shows a mysterious spur that I
am unable to remove (in most cases) with spur reduction. It occurs mainly on
Lower Side Band. I've heard the tone on previous versions as well but it is
normally buried in the noise. The radio is connected to a dummy load. I'm
using the SDR1000 with an Eridol FA66 and SVN1879. I'm able to operate the
radio normally but hearing the tone in the background is a bit annoying. Let
me know if you have any suggestions on how to remove it. I used the
panadaptor/waterfall combo display in order to make it more visible.

And guys, please forgive me for the awkward narration!!

Thank you!

Re: [Flexradio] Third-pary RTTY CAT commands

2007-08-25 Thread NU8Z
I'm not sure I fully understand what is being proposed here and my comment
may not be relevant.
But, I want to make sure that whatever is changed does not have a negative
impact on other digital modes. At this time nothing seems broken to me , so
why fix it? (as I said, I may not fully understand) I love my Flex and the
way it interfaces with DX Labs. What a great combo! I have run most all
digital modes, but don't claim to be an expert on any one of them. I use
DigL on all digital modes with no problems. The only time I use DigU is on
20 meter digital SSTV where the convention is USB. This allows you to hear
the conversation between pictures. On 40 SSTV I use DigL for the same
reason.
Please consider the effect of any proposed change on all possible modes
before changing anything. Don't take any flex out of the Flexradio/DX Labs
experience. As I said, it seems to work great.
That being said, I will live with what the experts decide is best.

The problem is that there's no Kenwood CAT-compatible way to set the

that the SDR-1000 software simply be extended to interpret FSK-R

This is a great program for adjusting the radio while keeping the focus on
the logging program. It can be modified to meet your needs by changing the
.ini file. Lots of functions that are now on Hotwheel can be controlled by
the logging program (ie, freq, band , etc). That being said you can change
hotwheel to control other functions on the flex. The number pad only has so
many keys. The scroll key turns hotwheel on and off. The Hotwheel program

Most of the time, exact frequency control is not as critical in cw or ssb
mode.
But...
IT'S EXTREMEMLY critical in digital contests.
Just a few Hz will make the difference of decoding a digital signal,
ESPECIALLY a weak digital signal.

I operate Digital Contests using Writelog by calling CQ on VFO B via Split
mode.
Writelog allows mouse wheel adjustments of VFO A.

This allows me to 'fine tune' an off frequency responder on the fly via the
mouse while maintaing the mouse in the Writelog program (keeping Focus).

I also use the PowerToys XMouse feature for instant Focus for mouse
'Snap-Click' or wider frequency excursions.

Using 2 monitors, and placing PWSDR and Writelog next to each other provides

minimal mouse travel.

It taint perfect and it won't let me compete with the big boys (I couldn't
anyway), but so far, without a dedicated frequency control device connected
directly to the Flex Radio, it's the quickest 'one computer' system I've
come up with.

Subject: [Flexradio] PowerSDR RIT control by mouse wheel

I have entered this on the Flex feature request list:

This weekend I operated 16 hours in the SARTG RTTY contest with my
SDR-1000 as my only radio. I REALLY missed an easy-to-use RIT
control. Modern RTTY decoder software with Automatic Tuning helps,
but RIT is still necessary.

While I was in the RUN mode, the only PowerSDR control I used was
RIT. My Tx freq must not move, so I couldn't tune the radio just to
accomodate the occasional off-frequency caller. I typically had only
2-3 seconds to adjust the RIT to grab his callsign. It would have
been very helpful if I could have set PowerSDR to let the mouse wheel
control the RIT instead of its presently dedicated tuning function.

Those tiny RIT buttons in PowerSDR V1.10.1 are hard to find quickly
and slow to use. The keyboard commands are better, but the mouse
wheel would be best.

I guess one of the external knob gadgets could be dedicated to
this, but I prefer to work with the keyboard/mouse combo if possible.

Has anyone interfaced the Tokyo Hi-Power HL-1.5KFX Amplifier to the SDR-1000
for automatic band switching??
I would be interested in hearing from you.

Very funny everybody but, seriously, the meter and other display items

Do not import the old database right away. Then check the CPU usage.

Re: [Flexradio] Sub RX toggle Key and Sub RX Volume

2007-01-06 Thread NU8Z
Hello All:

As input comes in from other's, it is apparent that different folks use the
dual receive function for different things and have different but equally
important priorities for this features use.

For myself, my priority is when working a DX pile up to be able to hear the
stations that the DX is working when running split. I want the capability to
be to control the ratio of Main RX and Sub RX volume. This volume ratio or
distribution could vary depending on the size and amplitude of the pileup
that the strength of the DX station. This could be accomplished by the
Main/Sub balance slider method, or the use of two volume controls. One
volume control for the Main RX and one for the Sub RX.

In the interest of functionality and flexibility I guess I would favor the 2
volume control approach. I'm running version 1.9.0 (803). In this version
the Sub RX volume control in the Sub RX panel does not control the Sub RX
volume. If this were changed so that the Sub RX volume control actually
controlled Sub RX volume, that would be great. If this revision was made,
one could independently adjust the Main and Sub Rx audio outputs. I think
this would allow Chas to do what he wanted to do with the digital modes, yet
offer the flexibility for other uses, to include the working of DX.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Joe,

The problem with the having a single slider distribute the gains is
that you need a calibration point to set equal gains on main and sub,
or else a means to turn the distribution feature off. Otherwise you
will spend an inordinate amount of time trying to balance the gains
when you want near or precisely equal gains on both. I don't really
see any advantages to distributing the gains; if there are some
please tell me. The advantage of having precisely equal gains on
both is to be able to measure signal strength on one and relate that
to signal strength on the other when using third party software that
uses a spectrum display, such as MixW. The feature of having two
gain controls works now. The only hang up I have with the two gain
controls is the main gain control is positioned under Sub receiver
where the sub receiver gain control should be positioned under sub receiver.

Here's an alternative idea. How about a single slider that
distributes the AF between Sub and Main RX. Kind of like an audio
balance slider, but instead of balancing between L and R, balance
between Sub and Main. Assuming equally strong Sub and Main RX signals,
then:
- Slide all the way to Main and you only hear Main
- Slide all the way to Sub and you only hear Sub
- Slide half way between Sub and Main and both are equally loud.

Obviously, if Sub and Main have different signal strengths, then the
mid point will be more towards the weaker of the two.

Just a thought,

First, with regard to my original question regarding a keyboard
entry to toggle the sub RX, I received a response from Henning
(VK2CAP) . He stated that he uses the space bar. The space bar will
toggle on and off the last button hit with the mouse. Hit the Sub RX
button once with the mouse and it toggles the Sub RX nicely after
that with the space bar. I tried it and it
  works great! Thanks Henning!

Sub RX Volume Question: Now I have a question regarding the vertical
slider in the Sub RX box. This now controls the Main RX volume.
Would it not be better if it controled the SUB RX volume??? I think
it would. We already have a volume control for the Main RX. What
  do others think?

Re: [Flexradio] Keyboard Command for Sub Receiver

2007-01-05 Thread NU8Z
Eric:
That would be great!

I would find it useful when working dual receive split in the following
situation:
When the DX is weak there are times when you need the extra hearing power
and it would be nice to hear the DX in both ears. A good example of this
would be when the pile up is huge and you think he is coming back to your
call. I think I would find it easier to hit the keys, vs grabbing the mouse
and moving to the sub-receive button when I want it in both ears.

I guess another option might be to build an external Dual receive audio
management console. This could be done with separate volume controls for the
right and left channels. There may be others that have done this? But the
keyboard command option sounds simple and may serve the same purpose.

Thanks
Mark

I found out what I wanted to know...

PS I asked this question because I'm building a system that I will
use with my new SDR-1000 (when I get it)
This was my first question for the reflector. I feel better about taking
jump knowing that there is help out there.
I'm sure there will be more questions to come.

Thanks Again
