2010-11-28 Thread Robert Bajuk
Hello …

option too. Only serious inquires please :-)

[Flexradio] Latency problem finally SOLVED!

2009-04-24 Thread Robert Bajuk
Hello guys,

Great news ! Latency problem with my PC is finally solved

I hope some of you can find my experience useful

Just to refresh - using modern - powerful PC:

Core2Duo
E8400
4ghz Ram
MSI P43 NEO mother board
OS is Win XP SP3

To make a long story short The problem is MSI P43 NEO motherboard, to
be more specific - in BIOS, not in any hardware / software as suspected...

I've changed different official BIOS version but the same problem with the
huge DPC number ...

Results were really terrible:

http://lea.hamradio.si/scc/down/dpc-screen.jpg

I've decided to ask the official MSI support team for the support with DPC
problems... I got their response very fast - in 12 hours. They advised to
flash some BETA bios version - A7519ICI.101 in my case. I got log-in
instructions for their FPT server, downloaded and flashed this beta BIOS and
problem is solved.

Take a look of DPC screen after that:

http://lea.hamradio.si/scc/down/dpc-new.jpg

The difference is very obvious, maximum latency has dropped from 1960
n-seconds to 86 only!!!

I can still make some fine-tuning, but probably there is no need for that.

MSI guys are familiar with this problem but none of the official BIOS
versions solve this problem... Only unofficial BETA version from 2008 brings
results...

Good experience - we are always learning :-)

Re: [Flexradio] computer latency utility

2009-04-22 Thread Robert Bajuk
Hello guys,

I am trying to solve an annoying DPC issue with my PC:

Core2Duo
E8400
4ghz Ram

OS is Win XP SP3

I got a quite bad test on this fast machine Using DPC Latency Checker ...
Every second interval latency goes to nearly 2000 ... very bad

Please see the results:

http://lea.hamradio.si/scc/down/dpc-screen.jpg

I tried to disable most of devices - no success.

Now I am trying to diagnose the driver which causes problem with MS RATT
tool...

Now, is there some expert on the reflector to help me out with the
interpretation of my RATT test results... and some suggestions of course

RATT report can be find on the link bellow:

http://lea.hamradio.si/scc/down/rat-report.txt

All suggestions are really welcome...Thanks a lot

The RATT results are exactly what's needed, so bravo for acquiring the

At first blush, the culprit appears to be your storage stack

tell us about your storage stack configuration, such as interface,

Now I am trying to diagnose the driver which causes problem with MS
  RATT tool...

The RATT results are exactly what's needed, so bravo for acquiring the tool
 and posting the results.

At first blush, the culprit appears to be your storage stack (ATAPI.SYS)...
I assume you're running a SATA disk drive. What can you tell us about your
storage stack configuration, such as interface, drivers, number of disks,
 etc?

Correct me if I am wrong - KB855222 Hot Fix is not needed for XP SP3,
right?

 Wayne,

Good news, glad that everything is running ok.. Did you update the FW
driver with Microsoft KB855222 Hot Fix? Might want to check that out, if
 you didn't..

Thanks for your computer advice Tim!

Since the new Mac Pros only support Firewire 800 from the motherboard, I
put in an Allegro Express FW400 which has two 400 ports and uses the TI

Re: [Flexradio] W2RF branch with 3.4.0.4877?

2009-03-20 Thread Robert Bajuk
Exactly, same thing here it changes to 48kHz upon initialization and
goes back to 96 kHz in my case as soon I hit the Start button in PowerSDR.
No big pain

73 Robert

2009/3/20 Eric Wachsmann e...@flex-radio.com

I can confirm that when launching PowerSDR, the driver (note, not PowerSDR
setting) changes to 48kHz upon initialization. This is a new undesirable
behavior with the Beta driver that we've reported. Note that as soon as
 you
start the audio stream (i.e. hit the Start button), the sample rate will
switch back to whatever the desired rate is in PowerSDR.

[Flexradio] W2RF branch with 3.4.0.4877?

2009-03-19 Thread Robert Bajuk
Hello

New to Flex... happy owner of new Flex-5000A, not on the air yet, preparing
PC and installing drivers and software to get radio on the air

I noticed the the last flex driver is now 3.4.0.4877... I just installed the
driver and it looks fine with PowerSDR 1.16.2 - BTW how to save sample rate
in BUS to 96 kHz, it works OK but when I reset PC it gooes back to 48kHz...

Another question I tried the the last W2RF branch and I can not get it
work with the new 3.4.0.4877 drivers? PowerSDR can not communicate with
Flex-5000... Just wonder what I am doing wrong or is it just the new driver
issue?

Re: [Flexradio] W2RF branch with 3.4.0.4877?

2009-03-19 Thread Robert Bajuk
Thanks Tim...

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough regarding question No. 2...

I am facing the same problem as you mentioned few days ago (I just found
out)...

I set Firewire driver to Sample Rate 96 kHz and Buffer Size to 1024... Bu
something is resetting the sampling rate of the Firewire driver to the
default 48 KHz rather than leaving it at the last sampling rate used if the
sampling rate was either 96 or 192 KHz. Sampling rate in Firewire driver is
not stable and it looks that is resetting time to time... Using Win XP SP3
(32bit)

 Robert,

 Welcome to the club.

I'll answer the last question first.

Ed (W2RF) has not updated his branch to support the new driver. Only
version 1.16.2 (released), the SVN Trunk and the SVN branch TEST have
support for the new driver. It is up to the individuals who host a branch
to update their code to support new drivers and firmware.

Question 2: I am not sure I fully understand your question about sampling
rate. What do you mean by setting the rate in BUS?

I have tried with both versions - stable 1.16.2 and the last TEST branch...
Same results, it is not fiexd - at least for me When PowerSDR starts
with loading (after 2 sec in my case) the sample rate in in F-wire driver
3.4.0.4877 resets to 48 kHz

There is a little bit of a bug in the new beta Firewire driver
(v3.4.0.4877) that prevents it from remembering the sampling rate if you
are using 96 KHz or 192 KHz SR rates on Windows XP when PowerSDR or the
 radio is shut down.

Try using the SVN version in \branches\test and see if that keeps the radio
from switching back to 48 KHz. Eric added some logic in the init process
that should correct that problem. Please let us know how that is working
 for you.
