As I understand, based on an earlier conversation with Eric, one line of
the parallel interface is used in a serial fashion to convey information to
and from the tuner. I suspect from your correspondence you have a problem
with the parallel port and its communication with the SDR-1000.

I'd also verify that if the usb option is desired, that the appropriate

unset itself in the past.

Re: [Flexradio] sdr-1000, problem with atu

2007-08-15 Thread Thompson_Peter
If you're having problems communicating with the ATU and problems reading
forward and reflected power this seems to point to the parallel port connection
on the back of the radio. I think these two things you're having a problem
with are separate functions that both rely on the parallel port to work
properly.

Have you changed anything at the PC end - is the usb cable plugged into the
same usb port that used to work. Might be a power issue on the usb end - I
think it's been reported that all usb ports are not equal.

Hi Ruben

Try these steps

Look at the LEDs on the ATU, they tel what the tuner is doing,
must be somewhere on the web what they show (OFF BLINKING or STEADY)

Disconnect the ATU, Put in the jumper on the PA bard and see what happens
(the jumper connects to-ATU and from-ATU connectors together)
(it is possible that disconnecting the power from the ATU is enough,
but do not count on that)

I am not sure if the data from the ADconvertors in the SWRmetring
are using the same conector pins as some other signals,
I do not have the schematics on this computer
an will not be near that computer for a few days

I hope this helps you

Re: [Flexradio] sdr-1000, problem with atu]

2007-08-15 Thread Thompson_Peter
Agreed.

Actually, it just occurred to me that this could be RF getting into the
works. I seem to remember that the only time I've seen anything like
this was under a high swr situation where my tuner was having a
difficult time finding a match - I put it down to too much stray RF
getting in there and interfering with the control of the ATU, preventing
it from doing its job - never proved this of course, and haven't seen
that problem since. I wonder if attempting tuning with either a dummy
load on the end and/or reduced power might provide useful information to
help solve the problem. In any event, I see Eric is on the problem and
has posted some suggestions.
