This is because FG reports the upper side of the static Aircraft as
ground and not the ground below them. The Jeep gets the collision info
from FG, but the walker depends on the heigth geo.elevation reports.
This might change in a future release.

[Flightgear-devel] Res: Building fails cannot find plib library from CVS

2008-03-17 Thread Cleber Santz
Fred,

Tks for reply, but like i say, i have the lasted plib from CVS (1.8.5).

I get from CVS plib, osg, simgear and flightgear, all updated together.

I check for include dir, and see that osg, simgear and flightgear headers are
under /usr/local/include, so i make syslink for
/usr/include/plib->/usr/local/include/plib. But it even fails.

Cleber.

Re: [Flightgear-devel] Rogue objects at KSQL

2008-03-17 Thread George Patterson
Hi Drew,

Thanks for that and I think I may have found the other object that i
reported. (or at least further information.

Using flightgear, I taxied along side the object which is around 37*
30 43.9N 122*14 56.5W
Which I think is the following line, though upon test but has it
didn't change when I edited the stg file.

OBJECT_STATIC sanmateo-fb.xml -122.25 37.5831 -0.6 140

Using the c172 I tried flying into the beam and was solidly tossed
around when the beam crossed with my flight path.

I'm out of ideas for the evening. I might try stripping down the .stg
file and slowly add the lines back in. Or rather remove half, retest,
replace with the other half and re-test. This still doesn't explain
why the light is so solid. :-)

Regards

George

[Flightgear-devel] Res: Res: Building fails cannot find plib library from CVS

2008-03-17 Thread Cleber Santz
Hi Jester,

I think it too, so i reinstall the system from zero and compile all again but
the problem persist.

this could be a missing parameter in ./configure ? prefix maybe ? i run
configure only with --enable-osgviewer for flightgear, for plib and simgear
without any parameters.

Maybe you have old plib installed too? From distribution package, maybe?

Re: [Flightgear-devel] Res: Res: Building fails cannot find plib library from CVS

2008-03-17 Thread Curtis Olson
My suggestion would be to search your system carefully to make sure you
don't have left overs from an earlier version of plib ... start in /usr/lib
and /usr/local/lib, also check your packaging system to make sure it didn't
install it's own version. It appears as if you are compiling with
1.8.5headers and
1.8.4 libs ...

Regards,

Curt.

Re: [Flightgear-devel] Walking around

2008-03-17 Thread Gijs de Rooy
Hi,

It's a very nice function and I would like to add it to the Follow Me car,
i'm working on. But to make it more real, is it possible to get a man walking?
So could we make an object that follows you when you're "walking" around
in the FG-world?

It would be very nice for the Follow Me, because we could have a man out
of the car to let the aircraft stop at the right distance of the gate...

[Flightgear-devel] comprehensive preferences.xml manual

2008-03-17 Thread Vikas N Kumar
Hi

It seems that after spending time searching a lot on the wiki, mailing
lists, source code docs and the web, I have not found a detailed or
comprehensive account of the preferences.xml file, all at one place.

I understand that it takes time to write one. All I can find are very small
bits and pieces of how to edit the file for very specific requests.

Is there any documentation in the works for this ?

Regards
Vikas Kumar

[Flightgear-devel] Matrox TripleHead2Go

2008-03-17 Thread Curtis Olson
Has anyone seen this little device?

http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/products/th2go/

It plugs into your standard video card, and looks like a 3x wide monitor.
Then you plug 3 monitors into it and tada ... a wrap around visual system.

I'm pretty confident that FlightGear could support this out of the box,
simply by drawing to the normal display and honoring the 3x wide monitor
resolution, however this will only look correct if you arrange your monitors
in a flat plane ... like a video wall. If you arrange your monitors so they
face directly orthogonal towards your eyes (i.e. the outer monitors angled
in) to form a "wrap around" visual system, then this scheme won't look
right.

Would it be possible to draw 3 separate view perspectives into the 3 regions
of the screen (possibly with additional center offsets to compensate for the
frame between the displays. That way we could setup a true wrap around
display system rather than a "video wall" style display system.

How close are we to making something like this work in our OSG version?

Regards,

Curt.

Quite close. We already have the ability to render to slave cameras that are
offset from the main camera. Currently the offsets are assumed to be in
projection space, but OSG can handle offset viewing angles as well. The current
code in fg_os_osgviewer.cxx also assumes that the cameras will be set up on
different graphics contexts i.e. different windows, but that is not an OSG
requirement either; the OSG example osgcamera shows how to assign slave cameras
to different parts of a single window.

[Flightgear-devel] KSFO ATC background chatter and more

2008-03-17 Thread Tobias Ramforth

Hello everyone,

as already mentioned in a previous mail I am currently trying to extend
the ATC background chatter files.
At the moment there only is a directory "UK" containing British chatter
files.

I would like to have your opinions on the idea for the following change:

- change "UK" to "default"
	- add a directory for each ICAO region (e.g. "K" for USA, "E" for
Europe etc.)
	- add the corresponding country codes (if any) as subdirectories to
the above mentioned dirs
	- add a directory for each airport to either the region dir or the
country dir (depends on which one applies)
	- add (as a first step) chatter files for each airport (if any) to
the airport directory

(as a second step, add subdirs for ground, tower and
clearance...)
	- add "fallback" chatter files for regions/countries (in case there
are no airport chatter files)

- use "UK" -> "default" as global fallback

Then in flightgear automatically select the best chatter directory by
script, depending on the current airport-id. I am reading
"/sim/presets/airport-id" triggered by a listener. If that is the wrong
thing to do I would appreciate hints to the _right_ way of getting the
airport-id for chatter.

I already have about 70 brand new KSFO ATC background chatter files to
start with for the most popular airport in flightgear. If anyone is
interested in these, please let me know.

Tobias Ramforth

Re: [Flightgear-devel] osgViewer patch for Mac OS X

2008-03-17 Thread Tatsuhiro Nishioka
Hi,

I uploaded a binary version of FlightGear-CVS/OSG for Mac with this patch.
It's available from:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=126825&package_id=212565

Known issue related to osgViewer at this moment are:
- it likely causes segmentation fault or Bus error, especially on quitting at
splash screen
(it sure does segmentation fault or Bus error with specifying --help option)
- mouse click sometimes doesn't work on GUI menu inside FlightGear main window.
- Control-click doesn't work as a right click.
Use right click of USB mouse or enable "tap trackpad using two fingers for
secondary click" from System Preferences.

Please try it and give me some feedbacks on this.

Best,

Tat
