I´ve been working on a port of Zarafa which should provide the same
features. The hold up is currently my computer issues and the fact that
I am in the process of setting up a second environment to test the LDAP
user connector with.

If you don't use that feature, the port should be functional, just rough
on the edges (it might leave some files behind after deinstall and it
needs one or two more rc scripts).

Zimbra mail exchange port for FreeBSD

2012-05-02 Thread Kaya Saman
Hi,

is anyone working on a FreeBSD port of Zimbra?

I am just wondering as I am more in favor of using FreeBSD then Linux
and currently I run an old version of Zimbra on CentOS, which I would
like to upgrade to a version running on FreeBSD.

I know a few years ago some work was being done on this subject but it
looks as though there still isn't anything substantial; can anyone
fill me in as to the progress/status of this?

Never tried Atmail

Just checked it out though and looks cool, even Thunderbird
integration which is good.

Will try it out and see, though would need to work out a migration
plan between Zimbra to it.

As long as it's FREE it should be ok :-)

Thanks for the suggestion will just need to work out if can integrate it.

Kaya

ports version on one version back. if you submit a pr to update it
(which patches), cc me and I'll see how quickly I can get it committer.

the port is pretty old, and I suspect the current maintainer isn't using
it anymore, but you might want to ping him before you submit a pr. just
in case he knows something about the new version.

It has been ported, but not put into the tree at this point. I don't believe
it is complete, but from what I've seen it isn't far off.

Yes, however it is a reference and there is nothing stopping the port
from being upgraded to be supported. Furthermore, there is nothing stopping
anyone from contacting or joining the zimbra thread to update it or
collaborate with others.

I used Zimbra for a long time, and on FreeBSD, when they had distributed
packages for it. Unfortunately, they aren't doing it now, but it was done.

Tried php52, also php4.. no joy :-(

The base URL doesn't even display. The standard php5 port works best but
bombs out at the create DB screen.

try 1.0.5:

edit the /usr/ports/mail/atmail/Makefile, change 1.0.4 to 1.0.5

edit the distinfo

put this in there:

SHA256 (atmailopen.tgz) =
f7ad76b91613bfe0b2edb907099b728c29c5d223aa9cd54285dabad8fb504a9c

SIZE (atmailopen.tgz) = 3447336

delete old distfile : rm /usr/ports/distfiles/atmailopen.tgz

make clean deinstall reinstall

see if that helps

if not, open a pr
http://www.freebsd.org/send-pr.html

explain IN DETAIL what you tried. (read the Writing FreeBSD Problem
Reports, link above)

explain that your original problem was with 1.0.4, buy detail what you
tried when you updated to 1.0.5

(was it the same? different problem?)

Q: do you have current PEAR? you running a supported version of FreeBSD?
7.4, 8.3, 9.0?
did you update portstree? (portsnap fetch update, or cvsup, or cd
/usr/ports make update)?

Thanks so much for the help btw Michael :-)

Unfortunately the upgrade didn't work either I didn't have PEAR
previously - I have installed now but still no luck in getting it to work.

However, in the meantime I have been contacted by the package maintainer
who is looking at the issue and the port upgrade.
