Re: Authenticating a FreeBSD users to Win2K Kerberos

2003-02-13 Thread Matt Smith
The AD DCs work just as an MIT KrbV KDC works. A couple things to watch
for:
*For Kerberos authentication, your realm will be the same as your FQDN
Active Directory domain, in UPPERCASE.

The KDC will be automatically found if you are running W2k DNS (or the
proper SRV+TXT records in your DNS) If you add the following to your
krb5.conf file:
[libdefaults]
...
dns_lookup_kdc = true
dns_lookup_realm = true
...

This lets you simply type kinit [EMAIL PROTECTED]

To use the AD as your default realm, use this:
[libdefaults]
...
default_realm = MYAD.MYDOMAIN.TLD
...

The above will let you use pam_krb5 to authenticate your login ID as
your Krb princ.

Good luck!

OpenLDAP + Kerberos

2003-02-13 Thread Matt Smith
I have MIT Krb5 installed from ports, as well as the base system
(Heimdall?) kerberos. I am trying to compile the openldap2 port with
Kerberos support. Specifically, I am looking to have Kerberos enabled
clients: ldapsearch, ldapmodify, etc. Unfortunately, I am having no
success, using the port. Are there some special flags I have to set?
Does anyone have this configuration working?

US Robotics WinModem

I recently ordered a modem, but the wrong one was delivered. The one I
ordered claimed to support Windows + Linux, but the one I received is a

I can get this to work in FreeBSD? I know it's a winmodem, but it may
be less painful to try and make it work, than to return it.

need help on easy ways to maintain a second server, that will perfectly

multiuser screen broken in freebsd 5.0-release?

2003-02-03 Thread matt bedynek
I recently setup a new system under Freebsd 5.0.

I use screen multiuser for some applications and have made no change
other than the upgrade.

For some reason, I am unable to attach to these multiuser sessions. :-(

Screen gives me the error:

Attach attempt with bad pid(498)!

The only thing I could see that might cause this is screen not being
setuid root, but it is! In addition,
the file sizes of the binary are exactly the same as they were under
4.7-RELEASE. Same version,
of course too. (shrug)

Re: vnc at start-up

2003-01-30 Thread Matt Smith
Try this:
http://www.dei.isep.ipp.pt/~andre/extern/ixvnc.htm

The newest versions of XVnc have the patch built in. Effectively, this
allows a XVnc session to be launced via inetd, and upon initial
connection you are presented with a [XKG]DM login screen. You can even
configure the web component to do the same. And, with some clever SSH
tunnels created on bootup, you can encrypt your VNC session.

 server running.

I tried putting a start-up script in /usr/local/etc/rc.d and it works, but
in the vncserver script itself there is a loop which checks for the
availability of commands, including xauth. Apparently during boot-up the
PATH doesn't include /usr/X11R6/bin, so on boot-up one of the messages I
get is 'vncserver: couldn't find xauth on your path' and the server isn't
 started.

Can anyone suggest what I should do to make this work?

Re: FreeBSD-5.0 xl0 problem

2003-01-27 Thread Matt
I currently installed FreeBSD-5.0 and having problem configuring xl
card. Dmesg shows that kernel picks it up:

*snip*

I also use 3com's with the xl driver and I have no such issues:

xl0: 3Com 3c905B-TX Fast Etherlink XL port 0xe400-0xe47f mem 0xea00-
0xea7f irq 12 at device 15.0 on pci0
xl0: Ethernet address: 00:a0:24:ac:e1:b4
xl1: 3Com 3c905-TX Fast Etherlink XL port 0xe800-0xe83f irq 11 at device
17.0 on pci0
xl1: Ethernet address: 00:60:08:6d:1e:3b

Both are configured and working first on FreeBSD5.0-RELEASE and now on 5.0-
CURRENT after I cvsup'd over the weekend.

The only problems I have seen which I did not see with 4.x-STABLE was the
following errors:

xl1: transmission error: 90
xl1: tx underrun, increasing tx start threshold to 120 bytes

This occured as I was transferring a large amount of data over a samba mount,
but I have not seen it since and the card is still working normally.

Upgrading perl 5.6.1 to perl 5.8 via ports

2003-01-26 Thread Matt
Hi,

I am currently running freebsd 5.0-current and so do not have the perl
installation as core. Perl 5.6.1 was installed as a dependency when I
installed irssi from ports and everything has been using this since. I
assume because this is the version mentioned in /etc/make.conf:

PERL_VER=5.6.1
PERL_VERSION=5.6.1
PERL_ARCH=mach
NOPERL=yo
NO_PERL=yo
NO_PERL_WRAPPER=yo

What I would like to do is remove the perl 5.6.1 port and install the perl
5.8 port instead but before I go off and try this and break lots of things I
would like to know what I need to do to change all my currently installed
ports that have been installed to depend on perl 5.6.1 and the modules
in /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/ so that they all work in 5.8.

Is it just a case of backing up site_perl and forcing a deinstall of the
5.6.1 port and installing the 5.8 port and copying all the site_perl stuff
back but under /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8 instead? Or am I going to
need to reinstall all the ports that depend on perl? Plus I guess changing
the /etc/make.conf to 5.8 (though I guess the port will do this). Also am I
right to assume that the ports use the config in make.conf to decide which
version of perl they depend on?

Any advice appriciated as I do not know a lot about perl.

Regards, Matt.

4.7-Release Won't Boot

2003-01-12 Thread Matt Rudderham
Hi,
I am attempting an installation of 4.7 Release made from ISO a few days ago on the
following system: AMD Athlon 1400 Aopen AK77-333 MB Western Digital Caviar 20GB Hard
Disk

The system boots from CD A OK, and runs through the install without any problems, upon
reboot after the install is complete the system reports a disk error and FreeBSD will
not boot from the hard drive, it does not begin loading FreeBSD or anything at all.
Other OS's have worked on the same hardware with no problems, I verified the C/H/S
settings for the FDISK, and they are okay, I have tried installing with the FreeBSD
boot manager, as well as with the old Dangerously Dedicared mode, to no avail. I'm
not really sure where I can go from here. I suspected a problem with the hard disk at
first but I have run all the Western Digital diagnostics on it, and they come out
clean. It is running at ATA100 with the proper cabling, and FreeBSD detects this, it
also appears that all of the install files DO copy to the drive, as I can use the
system immediately after the install from the Emergency shell on VTY4, right now it is
online as such running Seti@Home packets without any problems, any help would be
MUCHLY appreciated, thanks!

S3Virge DX causes X and Text screen corruption

2003-01-09 Thread Matt Smith
I am trying to configure an S3Virge DX for XFree86. When X loads, the
screen looks fine initially, except for the mouse, which has some odd
corruption around it. As I move the mouse around, start programs, or do
anything that changes the screen, the areas of the screen that change do
not seem to refresh properly.

In addition, just after I start X, and an instant before the X interface
actually begins, I see my text console get corrupted. It almost looks
like the monitor is shifting everything roughly 3 inches to the right,
and wrapping lines around the screen. Text near the bottom of the
screen gets corrupted.

I have tried using the following options, with no success:
noaccel True
Xvideo False
SWCursor True

But I don't know enough about the other options to guess which I should
try.

Below is my XF86Config file. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi,

you might try writing your space character as an ascii escape sequence (\040).

 bye,
   Tom

Tom -- thanks for the reply. I found the same info on google, but it was from Linux
sites. Ufn, no luck -- now I get:
smbfs: unable to open connection: syserr = No such file or directory

To use the ascii escape sequence, do I need anything more than:
Account@NBName/MY\040SHARE /mntpointsmbfs
rw,noauto,-W=AccountDomain,-I=RealName.My.Domain.Edu 0 0

Even the following fails from a command line:
#mount -tsmbfs -o -I=RealName.My.Domain.Edu,-W=AccountDomain
//Account@NBName/MY\040SHARE mntpoint/

This show a little more info (note the -d -v):
#mount -tsmbfs -d -v -o -I=RealName.My.Domain.Edu,-W=AccountDomain
//Account@NBName/MY\040SHARE mntpoint/

Which returns:
exec: mount -tsmbfs -d -v -o -I=RealName.My.Domain.Edu,-W=AccountDomain
//Account@NBName/MY040SHARE mntpoint/

Which seems to mean that \040 resolves to simply 040.

The following works (using \ ) from a command line:
#mount -tsmbfs -o -I=RealName.My.Domain.Edu,-W=AccountDomain
//Account@NBName/MY\ SHARE mntpoint/

But \ does NOT work in the fstab file.

Any other ideas, anyone?

archos and freebsd

2003-01-03 Thread Matt Gostick
Hello,

I got an Archos Jukebox Studio 20 for Christmas, and want to hook it
up to my FreeBSD box. It's uses a usb cable for data transfer, and I've
never had to use usb on FreeBSD before. I've done some research and the
best page I could find with instructions was
http://www.stalker.org/~sean/freebsd-p2040/... but the kernel config and
supplied archos.sh script doesn't work for me. I'm a little behind when
it comes to usb... is that what firewire is?

On his page it says to compile firewire, sbp, scbus, da and umass.
I'm cvsup'ed to 4.7 stable from release and did what he said. When I
try and 'mount -t msdos /dev/da0s1 /archos' I get 'Device not
configured'.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Could you reply to my email
address as well as the list please b/c I'm not subscribed.

Thanks,
Matt.

Re: archos and freebsd

2003-01-03 Thread Matt Gostick
Okay - I added a couple more things to my kernel config file - but for
all I know they have nothing to do with getting what I want. From what
I've read, this is just supposed to work. I feel like I'm taking shots
in the dark trying different kernel configs, etc.

I did read the firewire/00README file - but given my level of knowledge
with kernel source and modules it didn't really help much. I assumed
that everything was done when I did a build/installworld to 4.7 stable.
I have tried the two methods that I thought would work... first was the
complete build/installworld. When that didn't work I did what the
firewire/00README file stated, downloaded the latest firewire tarball
and made it manually. Neither worked.

I'm still getting 'Device not configured' when I try and mount
/dev/da0s1.

Here is my dmesg from boot -v

Please forgive me if I have worded this wrong, I am also new to using this type of

RE: VNC

2002-12-16 Thread Matt Smith
The inetd.conf entry must be all in one line.
/etc/inetd.conf:
Xvncstream tcp nowait nobody /usr/local/bin/Xvnc Xvnc -inetd
-query localhost -once -geometry 800x600 -depth 24

As well, you must have a services entry
/etc/services:
Xvnc5900/tcp #VNC Server

Also, inetd must be running:
/etc/rc.conf:
inetd_enable=YES

Proper host access must be configured:
/etc/hosts.allow:
Xvnc : xxx.xxx.xxx.0/255.255.255.0 : allow

Lastly, XDM (or GDM, KDM, etc) must be running, and configured to accept
requests, DIRECT or INDIRECT . The above inetd.conf entry will allow
for DIRECT queries, INDIRECT can be used by replacing -query localhost
with -broadcast.

I use -query localhost to make Xvnc grab XDM only from my local box,
but this param can be configured to grab the XDM login from another box.

I would suggest reading about iXVNC from the VNC page -- the inetd
functionality originally came from this patch, but is now a native part
of the XVNC daemon:
http://www.dei.isep.ipp.pt/~andre/extern/ixvnc.htm

!!!Warning: As configured, simply connecting to Xvnc service passes
everything plaintext!!! I STRONGLY recommend tunneling VNC traffic over
SSH (or other secure tunnel).

Good luck!

Dell I8K Screen Blanking (fn+d)

2002-12-13 Thread Matt Rickard
I'm running FreeBSD 4.7 on my Dell Inspiron 8000. On the I8K, one of
the function sequences, Fn+D, turns off your screen.

The problem is, when I hit Fn+D, the screen will momentarily go blank,
then within a second or so it will again come back.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get this blanking to work
properly? Is there some kernel option I need to change? I'm using
GENERIC right now.

As a side note, this blanking works as expected in NetBSD and Linux. What
is it that FreeBSD is doing differently?

Thanks for replying so quickly. My existing drive
seems now to be in the process of dying, so copying
its contents has been more time consuming than I
expected (due to many IDE timeouts). This means I'll
be getting a 3rd drive to use for the mirror, too.

Anyway, I'm assuming that with this original
configuration:
drive drive1 device /dev/ad0s1e
 volume var setupstate
  plex org concat
   sd length 256m drive drive1
 volume usr setupstate
  plex org concat
   sd length 0 drive drive1

this second configuration should work:
drive drive2 device /dev/ad2s1e
plex name var.p1 org concat volume var
  sd length 256m drive drive2
plex name usr.p1 org concat volume usr
  sd length 0 drive drive2

assuming equal-sized drives, and that a start var.p1
and start usr.p1 should get them going.

There was a little more in that excerpt than I needed,
which made me confused initially, but I think I've
sorted it out now.

Thanks again for your help,

Ontrack and track boundaries

2002-12-12 Thread Matt Ronge
Hello all!

I just recently wiped out my FreeBSD system for reasons I won't get into
here and began installing a fresh copy.

Anyway, my computer requires the Ontrack Dynamic Drive Overlay because of a
BIOS limit of 33Gig. I have installed the DDO software just like I did
before but when I go to install FreeBSD, FreeBSD complains. Fdisk shows that
the drives offset starts at -63 and when I try and create a partition it
complanes about incorrect track boundaries.

Here is what I do in order to install BSD:

1. Boot up off Ontrack DDO floppy
2. Tell drive to report as 33G instead of 80G and restart
3. Format drive using Ontrack as fat32 inorder to install software
4. Boot up with FreeBSD to try and partition
5. Error!

A side note is that if I don't format the drive as fat32 first DDO doesn't
installed and BSD only sees 33G. Also my drive is an IBM Deskstar80GXP I
believe.

I know it works since I had it running before.

Thanks

How do I block spam locally? (WAS: Re: Reacting to spam targettedto freebsd.org [was: Re: PLS GET BACK TO ME.])

2002-11-21 Thread Matt Smith
I agree, but how do I run spam filtering locally?
As an average desktop user, I simply use a client to POP mail from a
server -- are there client plugins that filter for spam? I currently
use Evolution, but am willing to change if there a spam filter plugins
for other clients.

As a slightly-more-than-average desktop user, I just figured out
fetchmail to fetch a POP3 account to my local sendmail (base system,
default install, set for local deliver only). Is SpamAssassin the
best way to go? Is it a plugin for Sendmail? If I'm going to start
messin' with my local MTA, should I try something besides Sendmail? The
config options of Sendmail are somewhat daunting -- it seems like an
SMTP handler should be simpler.

Thoughts?

For what it's worth, I run SpamAssassin locally, and use it to *mark*
possible spams, but never drop them. Then I configured my client to filter
based on the `X-Spam-Status' header into a spam folder that I periodically
check. Once a month or so, I find a piece of mail that *should* have passed
but was marked, so I have to adjust my rules and/or whitelist accordingly.

Netbeans

Anyone using NetBeans for Java development on FreeBSD? Good, bad, ugly?

Also, are there any good multi-language GUI IDEs for FreeBSD? At the
moment I use SciTE for my coding (lots of languages supported for syntax
highlighting), then Makefiles for project management, which is pretty
good.

I would like something similar to the NetBeans interface, but with
support for other language plugins (providing project management,
syntax highlighting, compiler configurations, GUI interface to existing
debugging tools, etc), AND an existing archive of plugins for numerous
languages, since I am too lazy to write my own. ;)

I am not interested in using vi or emacs, or any such spin-offs. I am
primarily looking for language support for C, C++, Java, PERL, PHP,
Python, and LISP.

I would prefer something free and in the ports collection, but I am open
to commercial offerings as well, as long as it runs on FreeBSD (because
I am not willing to switch to Linux).

My card is supposed to go to 1600x1200 at 24bits but just does not do it -

I put this on chat becuase it's a bit off topic, and it has yet to be
answered on the xfree lists. I just installed fbsd 4.7 on a new box, at
the prompt to configure the x server said no, and finished the install.
I then ran XFree86 -configure and copied the XFree86Config to /etc/X11/.
When I start X it starts okay except it will only run in 4 bit mode.
Even when I try to force it to 16 bit at the startx prompt, it will
default to 4. I tried to comment out the 4bit subsection the XFree will
only complain that it's not there and fail to load. I know the video
card and monitor will do 16 bit and 1024x768, it was on the previous
install, and the box dual-boots win2000, which is using that config. I
noticed there are no lines for modes in the screens subsections, so I
added one to the 16bit subsection, it only breaks X again. I've included
the XFree86Config at the bottom of this message.
Hopefully someone will be able to help me here. :)

Regarding JDK ports

2002-10-19 Thread Matt Garcia
Hi,

I was wondering how would i go about configuring the
jdk1.3 port to work under freebsd so i can use java
applications ie... chess on yahoo... i know there is
xboard which i use but i enjoy playing on yahoo more.

I download the jdk1.3 ports collection and made a
clean installation of it however i think there are
some other steps that are required in order for it to
work? cause when i tried playing chess on yahoo the
applet wouldn't load.

Any help would be greatly apperciated.

Re: Best practice when building a -STABLE branch kernel

2002-10-18 Thread Matt Smith
List, please correct me if I am wrong:

The business-as-usual practice would be to not run -Stable, but rather
run a -Release. -Stable, although more stable than -Current, should not
be run in business-production, although my hunch is that many small
environments do.

If you are running -Stable, then chances are you have some technical
knowledge, and could contribute back to the project, in which case
including debugging options could be helpful.

Any other thoughts?

Re: directory structuer for a web server

2002-10-08 Thread Matt Smith

I have always like the DNS style layout:
/www -- dedicated file system
/www/com/
/www/com/mycomdomain -- website for mycomdomain.com
/www/org/
/www/org/myorgdomain -- website for myorgdomain.org
...
etc
...

this filesystem matches DNS, and LDAP (for authentication and other
info), which makes for some neat scripting possibilities

Re: need help with x server and mouse

2002-09-23 Thread Matt Smith

Try:

Section InputDevice
Identifier Mouse0
Driver mouse
Option Protocol auto
Option Device /dev/sysmouse
Option ZAxisMapping 4 5
EndSection

If you have a wheel mouse, you don't need the Emulate3Buttons -- push
the wheel for button 3.
Also, try the auto protocol -- it usually works out.

Good luck!

Re: Using MFS for the first time

2002-09-21 Thread Matt Smith

What is the /dev/null component in the MFS line below? I have seen the
swap slice used, but never /dev/null. For that matter, I don't even
really know what that component does -- why do I need to list a device
for a RAM disk? Could someone fill in my knowledge gap?
Thanks

Okay, so I've been using Windows, so what?! Sure it crashes alot, and
has a serious number of fatal errors, but it compatible with an easy to
configure Ram-disk program. In a matter of seconds, i had a virtual
drive running off of my 512 mb of spare ram.

That's right, the old RAM-Disk driver even existen in the
old DOS days, 15 years ago, and that's where it belongs.
It is static and non-swappable. Not even perfect for a
 single-tasking system like DOS. ;-)

Okay, so maybe i exaggerate a little. I'm not too fond of Windows.
Freebsd is the best choice i've made by far. However, i am quite new to
MFS usages, and Kernel compilations. I'm hoping that an expert in this
field can point out the pro's and con's, usages of, maintenance of MFS.
Btw, this is just a standalone system, a personal computer, u might say.

I'm not an expert, but I'm using MFS myself. It's pretty
easy to set up: Add a line like this to your /etc/fstab
 file:

 /dev/null /tmp mfs rw,nosuid,nodev,-s=204800,-m=0,-T=minimum 0 0

The number behind -s= specifies the maximum size in disk
blocks, where one block is 512 bytes. In the above example,
the MFS filesystem would be 100 Mbytes. It is mounted on
/tmp, which is the typical usage for an MFS.

Pros: Well, it's faster than a physical disk, as long as
there is enough RAM to back up the data. If you run out
of RAM, the contents of the MFS are (partially) paged to
the swap area on your harddisk, just like a normal process
(and unlike the DOS RAMdisk driver).

Cons: If you're really low on RAM, and MFS won't do you
any good -- quite the opposite: It takes up valuable RAM
which ends up being paged to disk anyway if there's not
 enough RAM left.

Another disadvantage is that the contents of the MFS are
lost when the machine reboote (obviously). On the other
hand it could be seen as an advantage, as the contents of
/tmp don't have to be cleaned after a reboot.

Be careful not to mount an MFS on /var/tmp, because this
directory is expected by several tools to survive a reboot
(for example to save vi editor sessions)!

 Regards
Oliver

Re: IRQ problems

2002-09-20 Thread Matt Smith

/Most/ of this config was autocreated for me by XFree86 -configure,
but I had to add the ZAxisMapping by hand. The following InputDevice
section can be added directly to your /etc/X11/XF86Config file.

However, I see a number of other responses with alternate InputDevice
sections. You might want to try them all, based on your specific
config.

Section InputDevice
Identifier Mouse0
Driver mouse
Option Protocol auto
Option Device /dev/sysmouse
Option ZAxisMapping 4 5
EndSection

Hope that helps,

Let me tell something about my hardware and settings, maybe this will

   IRQ Problems:
I am running WindowsXP on an ASUS P2B motherboard. It is a dual
  processor
board, but I only have one P2 (450mhz) processor (I am running
  hal.dll).
When I run Winmsd.exe (in safe mode). I show the display adapter
  (Matrox
   G400 Max) at IRQ 16.

In the BIOS I have the PnP OS variable set to OFF. When I power up the

machine and I see the display of most of the system devices, their
  address,
names and IRQ values. Here, the display adapter resides at IRQ 12.

During the installation probe of freeBSD there is no option to set the

display adapter IRQ. The mouse comes up as IRQ 12 and will not let me
  edit
it. So I think I have an IRQ conflict, but I don't know how to resolve
  it
on the pc end or the freeBSD end. I even tried fooling the BIOS into

thinking that the display adapter had a different IRQ so that it would
  not
occupy IRQ 12. Alas, to no avail.

I would love to send the startup log, but I haven't figured out how to
  do
that. The machine assumptions are different every which way I look
  at
them. In windows safe mode I see what looks to be a complete
  accounting of
config values. In normal mode, running Winmsd.exe I get a different
  set of
values. Looking at the device manager reveals some different twists.
  The
machine level/BIOS assumptions have subtle but important differences,
  and
finally the freeBSD probe reveals different values all together. For
  me it
is a little like hitting a moving target that is on a moving target

IRQ, I/O and memory addresses (all I care about is wow they will work
  in
   freeBSD).

   2. A way to view and edit IRQ information on the freeBSD side other
  than
the initial installation. It takes a LONG time to re-install the
  system,
when you just want to change one value and test it (something like the

system probe). I have re-installed the system, probably 30 times now
  (I'm
   a little stubborn).

I am a newbie to be sure, but I really want to learn. I have a
  definite
goal in mind for setting this up. I want to set up an FTP and mail
  server,
and I have consistently heard that the BSD platform is THE way to go (I

also love this sort of challenge).

I will not be deterred or discouraged.

   Many thanks for any help.

Re: Can't mount my fat32 partition

2002-09-20 Thread Matt Smith

Are you running Windows 2000? It looks like you have an NTFS partition
on ads02, which would probably be your C: drive in Windows. Is that
what you are trying to mount? If so, you really need:
mount -tntfs /dev/ad0s2 /mnt
which will mount that drive read-only (NTFS is not writable yet, AFAIK)

OR did you create a different FAT32 partition? If you created your own
separate FAT32 partition, did you create a logical partition, IN the
extended partition? if so, try:

cd /dev
sh MAKEDEV ad0s5
mount_msdos /dev/ad0s5 /mnt

Hope that helps,
-Matt

As you can see, fdisk (and partition magic 5.0) thinks
that the fat32 partition is extended, but it is
numbered as 3, when extended partitions are supposed
to start at 5 (so I've read). Well ad0s5 doesn't
exist and ad0s3 is clearly the 3gig fat32 I just
formatted. Please help a poor confused soul.

Re: OT sed help

2002-09-19 Thread Matt Smith

Try these
Use this if part numbers are numeric only.
  cat my_flat_file | sed /^[0-9]\{8\}[^0-9].*$/d

Use this if part numbres are alpha-numeric, and columns are seperated by
whitespace
  cat my_flat_file | sed /^[0-9a-zA-Z]\{8\}.*$/d

These will both simply delete(from view, not from the file) compliant
entries, displaying only non-compliant entries.

Re: Administrators - GUI's or Command lines

2002-07-22 Thread Matt Snow

I prefer just command line, I see absolutely no point in even install X11
if all I am running is pop3, Postfix, apache, mysql, BIND.
These are all server app's, I script in console, I read e-mail in console,
and when I am on the road i use ICQ/IRC in console.

offtopic
But I am also not the biggest GUI fan when doing work, I run fluxbox with
keybinding's for everything imaginable so I pretty much don't even use the
mouse in X.

There is something extremely wrong with every single
person in this world. They seem to be part of a
 pointless simulation.

The Matrix has portrayed this idea somewhat, yet we
watch it and go back to our daily lives. Yet in this
very life, underneath the seeming diversity in
people's opinions, values, talents, and interests,
there is something that makes everyone the same. It
is as though this planet is populated only by mindless
fakes, objects that provide the appearance of
intellect on the surface but are based on only
mechanical reflexes and primitive thought patterns.

I don't really care if anything I say has been said
before, if it was portrayed in movies, in books, or in
the lyrics of some useless song. With 6 billion people
covering the globe at any given time, thousands and
thousands of years of written literature, probability
dictates almost any combination of words has occurred
numerous times. Yet there is clear evidence there was
no action, so those words, just like the people who
spoke them, must have been just more fakes. I am
forced to use this language (also created by the
fakes) because there is no alternative, so everything
I write here could be misunderstood to make me sound
like one of them, but it will be the action that I
take and the dedication that will separate me from
 them.

In my estimation the fakes that occupy this planet
don't make up 99%, but more like 99.999% of the
population. I know this because I've searched, and in
my search have so far only found one true ally (I have
found him via the internet as well). But even with
those numbers we would not give up because there is no
 logic in giving up.

The people on this planet are all fakes because the
societies have made them this way. Ideas that populate
people's minds have no logic or purpose. Concepts such
as religion, god, morality, individualism, freedom,
identity, happiness, love and billions of others are
all just memes. Like parasites they infect the minds
and spread from one person to the next. They have no
point or purpose; they exist without any logical basis
or foundation. The fakes are completely controlled by
them, and they will never see beyond them. To not be
controlled by them one must do more then just realize
that they exist. One must resist any ideas that have
no point, endlessly question, and never accept
imperfection or compromise in any answer.

We (myself and my ally) are different though. While we
have had the limitation of existing only in these
societies, something has made it possible for us to
resist being indoctrinated into becoming one of those
fakes. We have no arbitrary wants, needs, desires, or
 preferences.

If this world continues to exist the way it is then
nothing in it will ever have a point. It will always
be just a product of random evolution, one with no
importance or relevance. The only logical goal is to
dedicate our lives to increasing our numbers, those
that aren't fakes, so that in thousands of years our
numbers may be such that the fakes would no longer be
 a threat to progress.

Those that join us must see every other person
occupying this planet as the enemy, and us as their
only allies. Like us they must have dedication only to
taking the most logical action, and to nothing else.

To tell you more about us, we've posted some personal
information about ourselves on a website. You'll also
find past responses to us on that webpage.

Obviously anyone reading this email is most likely
just another fake. Do not simply reply to this email,
if you do your message will almost certainly be
ignored. If you do wish to communicate, first
demonstrate your interest by taking the effort to
find us online, one of the ways to do that is
 described below.

Use a major search engine to search for every
combination of any two words from the list below.
The order of the words shouldn't matter as long as
you do not search for them in quotes, but generally
it should be clear what words can go together and
in what order. Also when you pick the right
combination you shouldn't need to look at more
 then the first matches.

There are actually at least 7 (or more) different
combinations and websites you can find by searching
this list. The one you should contact will clearly
say it is the 'communication' page and will have
three forms to fill out. Mention what sites you did
find, the more effort it seems you took the more
likely we would believe in your dedication.

There is no trick to this and this isn't meant to be
quick, it should, however, be fairly clear if/when you
find the right site. The following search engines were
verified by us, please use any of them as other search
engines may simply not list us correctly: Yahoo,
 Google

Are you sure your ISP does not support webmail? Most of the better ones have

I use kmail and can set it up to check my e-mail automatically and set up a

Can you do something similar with your pop reader now?
