Sonic DP83916 NIC
Hello all, maybe my question is somewhat off-topic, but anyway... I have a very old (10 years old!) ISA Ethernet NIC, made by Tulip Computers using National Sonic DP83916 (SONIC-16) chipset. My colleague was going to drop it away as some kind of crap, but I'd like to put it into use. The only problem I don't know what driver to use, LINT didn't help, and I have some bad feeling that this NIC isn't supported by FreeBSD at all. Any help? Rhett __ Do You Yahoo!? syscons & LCDs...
Hi, all-- Assuming a RELENG-4.6 system with the following kernel options: options VESA options SC_PIXEL_MODE ...how can you best optimize the syscons display for a LCD with a native resolution of 1280x1024? I'd really prefer to drive it at the native resolution instead, however...aka mode 263. If my best bet is to install X11, I guess I'll bite the bullet and do so, but I'd really prefer to use text-based consoles if I still can. -Chuck PS: If the hardware details help, the LCD is a ViewSonic VX900, and here's "dmesg": Copyright (c) 1992-2002 The FreeBSD Project. uname reports 4.6-STABLE not 4.6.2-STABLE?
Just made/installed world after a cvsup yesterday. Is it normal for uname to not report the tertiary version number in the STABLE branch? It's been so long since we had a three digit release revision I can't recall. In the event it is normal, is there a way to determine the .2 maintenance level? Even /usr/src/UPDATING doesn't seem to have a line in there about the 4.6.2 RELEASE date. --Morgan Davis To Unsubscribe: send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
Re: "filesystem is full" during installation of 4.6.2-REL
Yeah, after all it's pretty simple. The "Restart" thing in sysinstall is a gross hack and doesn't really work. You should have mentionned the restart issue in the beginning though, it would have clarified a lot of things. :) Maybe you could open a pr about this? A. It looks like this is exactly what was happening. Everytime I tried to install, the DNS lookup on ftp.uk.freebsd.org would timeout the first time round (a seperate problem), and I needed to restart the installation each time. After going through the whole process several times, the DNS lookup worked first time round and the installation went without issue. It looks like sysinstall does get confused when asked to restart an installation. Many thanks to all who helped out. Andrew.
