It must me Mplayer related, I'll try to rebuild Mplayer with
--disable-lirc, see what that changes.
I'll post results here in the future. (see note)

note:
DO NOT USE XFS!!!

It's allready stated on the Gentoo page not to use XFS in
critical/server enviroments without UPS, and I finaly got the proof for
that.
After a power failiure both my XFS based systems are screwed up,
workstation was recovered, but my Freevo box has suffered severe damage
to the binutils/gcc packages.
It's running but compiling; no way.
So a note to all users, please use Ext3 or Reiserfs if you love your
system.

I have similar problems with some dvb-t streams. Setting the
interlacer to pp=md,phase=U solves this problem. It is already in
Freevo 2.0 cvs but I will port it to the upcoming 1.5.3.

I'm thinking of moving all get-info-from-www stuff to an extra lib for
Freevo cvs. Right now it's called mmnet, but the name sucks. Better
ideas? It will be able to get video info from imdb and amazon and will
be open for extra grappers using some sort of plugin style.

Scheduled for this weekend.

You use mga_vid with HT and it works? Which mga_vid sources do you
use? The "normal" once from the ebuild? IIRC I tried them and it
failed.

An avi with 640 pixel width uses 10% here with both mplayer and xine,
mga_vid between 8 and 9% on the framebuffer. But using mplayer with
Freevo is different. Freevo ads many options like post processing and
maybe software scaling. Doing that increases my cpu load to 30%. Do
you have X to compare the mga_vid results with xv?

I use the following mplayer audio flags to get mine to work, different

Hi, I have freevo configured to use mplayer with directfb (G400) and

I use the SPDIF output of my MAudio sound card. I have been able to
play DTS audio CDs via xmms. Am I missing something?
Thank you,

Probably I'm wrong, but the original description of you're lirc problem
gave me the impression lirc shares it's HW IRQ with another device. But
the strange thing would be that it only occurs after upgrading mplayer. So
probably mplayer asks more attention. something to do with NICE?

Off-course this works, but the funny thing is that it still works in my
recordserver, and it worked in the old setup too...
So record and view tv seem to handle the freq. in a different way.
Anyway this works, no clue why lirc is bugging while playing in mplayer.
