I can start that, I have a just built current list application and

That would be great. One page in the wiki could contain everything

 Hello,

Hi, sorry for the late answer.

I have been trying to find out how freevo handles overlapping
 recordings.

It kills the first one.

I think it could be nice to be able to choose (on the web page or
globally in the config file) which program takes predecence when two
programs overlap, without having to set one of them favorite (it
will be shown only once so the favorite list would fill up if
they're not removed). Sometimes i want to see the ending of the
first program and miss the beginning of the second, sometimes the
 other way around.

That will be fixed in Freevo 2.0. The cvs recordserver has priorities
for recordings and also supports more than one card.

[Freevo-users] Re: Freevo hangs...

2005-02-14 Thread ErniTron
I think the problem of FREEVO hanging forever on scanning directory
containing bad DVD rips or bad MPEG stream and inf freevo cache is in
the mmpython/video/mpeginfo.py file.

My version of mmpython is actually a 0.4.8 on gentoo.
(i couldn't check this on CVS version)
At line 635 of mpeginfo.py there it seems a debugging line left for error:
   #if offset + 1000  len(buffer) and len(buffer)  100 or 1:
I think it should be:
   if offset + 1000 len(buffer) and len(buffer) 100:

[Freevo-users] Working alternatives for mplayer with long recordings?

2005-02-14 Thread Geert Decorte
Long recordings in mencoder, and the playbacks in mplayer are unsuable.
It doesn't just play.
Probably this behaviour is related to mplayer itself rather then freevo.

I'm already using one of the latest mplayers available
[EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# rpm -q mplayer
mplayer-1.0-0.14.pre6a.1.fc2.rf

As a workaround, I could split recording into two parts. (didn't try to do
this with transcode yet)

Anybody has some usefull hints/tips to solve this?

Geert

OK. It would appear as though Freevo 1.5.3 requires the audio mixer in
locol_conf.py to actually exist :) for the TV/DVB functionality. I did
not bother setting it correctly as I use an amp to control my sound from
digital PC output. Setting the mixer setting in freevo to the correct
device fixed the non-functional DVB. All is happy again.

Hi,

I have freevo installed and a mountain of deps :-) on Fedora Core 3 (no
xmltv) and using tvtime as default tv viewer. I can do everything I want
including record, but my recordings have no audio. I have tried a lot of
variants to get the audio working i.e. from the website and such, but
alas still no audio with recordings. Hardware is Pinnacle PCTV Rave
(saa7134) and sound card is SB Live (patch cable from tuner to sound
card line in).

After all the work it's gonna be something simple no doubt - Anyone able

I also have an saa7134 card, wich came with an audio cable to connect to
the sound card, but my audio was very bad quality. I finally found out,
that the cable is not needed at all, I was able to get the sound
directly through PCI. I had to load the module with oss=1 as an option
and then the audio in device was /dev/dsp1. The sound quality is much
better now.

[Freevo-users] Can't get DIRECTORY_AUDIO_FORMAT_STRING to work in 1.5.3

Hi,
I tried changing in /etc/freevo/local_conf.py the line
DIRECTORY_AUDIO_FORMAT_STRING = '%(t)s'
to
DIRECTORY_AUDIO_FORMAT_STRING = '%(n)s - %(t)s'
so I could display track numbers beside the audio title. However, it
does not seem to be working. In fact I have never got this to work,
tried way back in 1.4.0 and to no avail then either. What am I doing
wrong, it just keeps displaying the same title only. All my mp3's have
track numbers in id3v1 and id3v2.3 tags.

Thanks,

One question to start with is this problem all vidoe or just a

issue in Mplayer or at least teh way Mplayer is called. Have you

Also check in /tmp/freevo/ for log files.

[Freevo-users] Auto executing scripts in freevo? (Was: Re: ATI Remote and Keybindings)

ok, a little digging around, and i found starting X11 first
then execute xmodmap -e keycode 54 = Escape gave me the desired
result, but for some reason Debian isnt looking at .xmodmap or

works when X11 is actually up. Ok, is there an auto exec setup if you
start freevo? I like to have a startup script that executes, during

[Freevo-users] More help with DirectFB

2005-02-14 Thread Justin Wetherell
After further examination, I have seen this problem before but I can't
remember the solution.

I have installed DirectFB 0.9.21, SDL 1.2.8, pygame 1.6, and Freevo 1.5.3.
I recompiled DirectFB, SDL, pygame, and Mplayer. I can play movies fine
with Mplayer but when I start Freevo I either get a blue screen (when
primary-layer=2) or scrambled display (when SDL_DIRECTFB_MGA_CRTC2 is
set). When I compiled SDL I did see DirectFB... yes.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

This is just a guess, but:
Try to start freevo (or any dfb application) *twice*. I have a kernel
2.6.10, DirectFB 0.9.21 and Freevo 1.5.3. For some reason (related to
DirectFB implementation, I guess), the first dfb application never executes
but ends at dfb error. The second one starts OK.

Actually I have added a row
/usr/local/bin/dfbswitch 720x576
in the beginning to my freevo script in /etc/init.d
After that, freevo starts. It does not matter which dfb application you use.

Strange, isn't it?

Kari

I actually noticed that before but thanks that helped. I saw the Freevo
screen clear but didnt know how or why, so what you said really helps
alot. Have you tried DirectFB CVS? I and downloading it now. If I start
Freevo then play a short clip with mplayer on dfbmga then hit the remote
(to force a screen refresh, I guess) it works. Thats for the work
around, lets hope we can get this fixed.

I laos found that if you set OSD_STOP_WHEN_PLAYING = 0 and just play a
mpg file then when it exists the screen is fine.

IIRC is libfusion something from directfb

Under Gentoo, it's a Use flag called fusion

But AFAIK, Freevo has no use for it.

[Freevo-users] Fresh Install, configuration help needed!

2005-02-14 Thread Cuddles
Ok folks, I just did a fresh install of 1.5.3, and I'm needing some
MAJOR help (looked through the Wiki, googled forever, and still can't
get it). Here's my situation...

I'm on a dual-monitor setup (NOT using xinerama), and I'd like Freevo to
display on the second monitor. That part I can do easily enough. BUT,
when I watch tv, it comes up in the upper-left corner of the screen
(monitor's display is 1024x768) instead of full-screen. The Freevo menus
all come up full-screen with no problem at all. BUT, when I exit Freevo,
the monitor is resized somehow. The icons on that screen are HUGE, and I
have to scroll down about 2 screens worth just to see the taskbar.

Can someone PLEASE tell me how to fix this?
Thanks!
