[Freevo-users] DVD Playing issues
Hi All, I am using the latest svn of freevo 1.x and am having issues with not being able to play DVD's from Freevo. I see the DVD ok, but when it plays I get a blank screen with jerky sound, or some times I get the video, but it is jerky. Both mplayer and vlc play the DVD's just fine on that box. Any idea's anyone? Personally I find that XIne is the better DVD player and Mplayer has the best video format support and TVTime, while it does not have livepause yet, is teh best for watching TV. That is just me I run a Slackware box. As for Kass.display, I don't see it being much help for you with VLC, it does not have vlc support yet to my knowledge. The kaa.display support for mplayer is progressing but at the moment is not very good. Evan -- Come build with us! [Freevo-users] DVD Playing
Hi All, Just done an install of Freevo 1.9.0 on an Archlinux box. Arch does not mount DVD drives automatically unless I install Autofs etc. My question is: By adding the line "ROM_DRIVES = [ ('/media/dvd', '/dev/sr0', 'DVD') ]" to my local.config file, should it not allow Freevo to mount the CD/DVD? I find it is not seeing the DVD Title after inserting the DVD, and I cannot therefor play it. I can play it fine in VLC after mounting it in the file system. Anyone know how to do this? Also does anyone know how to set Freevo to use VLC as the prefered player for DVD's ? Cheers, Bernie -- Come build with us! [Freevo-users] DVD playing on xine
I'm using a 450Mhz P3 with ATI MACH64 AGP card. I'm working on playing DVDs. I can now succesfully play DVDs using freevo/mplayer using the Xv video driver coupled with MTRR support. mplayer dvd://1, etc plays my dvd just ducky averaging between 50-60% CPU load on my little P3. I can also play DVDS via freezo using the DVD Title menu. I'm now trying to get freevo/xine to play the DVDS. I'd like to take advantage of the nice DVD menus which xine provides. When I use xine -p dvd://, the dvd starts playing, but quickly skips through a dozen or so sequences of video/audio before getting to the menu. When selecting any of the menu entries, xine rapidly plays through the video/audio and returns to the menu; this all happens in the matter of a couple of seconds. I'm getting many liba52 warning messages, don't know if this is normal or not. The console log is below. I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced this behavior. If mplayer can play DVDs on my P3 without any problems, should I expect the same from xine? libdvdnav: Using dvdnav version 1-rc1 from http://xine.sf.net libdvdread: Using libdvdcss version 1.2.8 for DVD access libdvdnav: DVD Title: World Champion Patriots libdvdnav: DVD Serial Number: c010de9e libdvdnav: DVD Title (Alternative): World Champion Patriots libdvdnav: Unable to find map file '/root/.dvdnav/World Champion Patriots.map' libdvdnav: DVD disk reports itself with Region mask 0x00c0.
