They're definitely less expensive, but not, in general, less
power-hungry. The Intel chips are better at reducing power
requirements when idle.

The Apple portables are anyway much better at being portable
than their x86-based counterparts---things like near-instant wake-up
from sleep, battery life(?), general robustness, both physical and
software-wise. I'm not sure how much of this would transfer across to
an x86-based design.

Where did you get the BTI adapter for your Pismo, cost and doesanyone have an Apple tattoo?

2002-09-07 Thread Dwight Hines

I am in the same budget range as you are, about $25, including shipping.
This now should be possible since the PB1400, PB3400, the G3 series, the DUO
200 and Duo 2300 powersupplies will work on a Pismo.

But where did you get your adapter?

Finally, does anyone on the list have an Apple tattoo. I'm thinking about
getting one.

d

P.S. Where does the name Pismo come from?

while I struggled to get a replacement. Initially, I was looking on
LEM-Swap and ebay for an older one, but they all seemed to be going for
over $25 on ebay, which was more than I wanted to pay for something
 used.

Hopefully its going to end today with the arrival of the FedEx truck!

Have a look at the keyboard preference pane 'Full Keyboard Access' maybe
that enables you to accomplish your goal, but it works slightly different
from the description above.

It's apparently a very common things to have stuck pixels on a laptop's

as I've read a few times that this sometimes help. If there are just a few,
then I wouldn't be too concerned, although my Pismo doesn't have any.

Re: f-keys on PB G4 (OS 10.2)

When my G4 PB was running OS 10.1.5, I managed somehow to switch the
f-key actions so that I could use the f-keys for various applications

upgraded to 10.2 and I can't get the PB to do this (I need to do it).
 Can anyone advise me?

You have to restart in 9, go to the keyboard control panel, I think in
Options. That's where you'll find those settings. Close the control panel
and restart in X. Your changes will stick.

a `segmented' architecture (like that of the 80x86) in which addresses are
composed from a base-register/offset pair (segmented designs are generally
considered cretinous).

Very correct

They sell everything from Gas to food to electronics, mainly outside
the States. I have seen them in Korea and the Middle East.

Spyware? For push and pull services? Would this spyware be
something to synchronize with .Net?

I don't know if it actually has spyware in it, I just know it's
Microsoft's reputation to often include spyware in many of their
products, sometimes disguised as security updates. I'm not sure about
IE, it's just possible.
