Explorer has gone weird!

2002-11-16 Thread Kathryn Odell
I have a G3 Pismo with an airport card, connected to a Netgear wireless
router. Suddenly today, I'm experiencing some weirdness with Explorer, and
along with that I'm having one page on a web site refuse to ftp in
Dreamweaver.

The explorer thingit won't download, says I'm missing Flash player
plugins (I have the whole program!) and refuses to go to the Macromedia
site, but will go to other sites. Is my computer demon possessed? I know I
probably need to trash and reload, but can anyone tell me how to save my
favorites?

And in DW, I'm getting "parameters are incorrect" for my one page. I noticed
I had a / in the file name and thought, aha, that's it. Changed it, and re
uploaded. Not working. Works in "preview in browser" mode, but not when
actually on the net.

I've got your site bookmarked, I'll have to wait a while to get some cash
together. The ones noted earlier in this thread sold for considerably less;
as much as $89 in one case. Glad to know they are still available though.

Not to toot my own horn (too much), but we carry these (and many other pb

I ran 10.2.2 on a 600mHz ibook, and it ran fine. You'll need to boost
the ram to run it well though. 384 is pretty minimal for a solid OSX
machine. You can install off a retail 9.2.1 CD then update it to 9.2.2.
It should work fine. It'll be a little quicker under 9.

Hope that helps.

2002-11-16 Thread discoveryarts

I made it back a little sooner than expected. Ive got my 1st laptop =)
Though I had to go down to the Fed Ex warehouse today to get it. grrr. Over
all Im pretty pleased. Though the transition is going to take a bit of
time...went cold turkey... traded my B&W G4 straite trade for an iBook500.

Aside for the failed attempt at a top case color/mod it is
in very nice condition... (least he used paint thinner instead of sanding it
off)

G3 / 500
384mb Ram
Cd-rom
yo-yo psu
System CD's < should be here Mon. >

Im dying to pop this thing open and see whats inside, but I thought best to
get some opinions and research =)

*1 does anyone have a top case hood they want to part with ?

*2 what type dvd-rom's can I put in here < all laptop drives pretty much
the same like towers? >

*3 Can this model live without this OSx.2.1 thing thats on here? (Im sure
it is a very pleasant and tidy OS when you get used to it, but its a bit too
slow on a G3 500 with a 66mhz bus speed and 8mb vram) 9.2.1 ok? can I load
a retail version or do I need to wait for the system software cd?

*4 has anyone manipulated their MB towards a 600mhz/100mhz bus
configuration?

I guess that will do it for now
Thanks for any advice.

Screen problem on Wallstreet

Hi all

I'm using a 233Mhz series II wallstreet with the 14.1 TFT screen and from
about half way down to the bottom the Color appears to be washed out or
faded. Is this a inverter or cable problem or do I just have a well used
Screen here?

Thanks

Re: Wallstreet acting flaky

2002-11-16 Thread Seth Austen
I have had a recurring problem on my wallstreet for a few months now.
Sometimes when I touch the menu bar with the cursor, the finder will quit.
Sometimes it happens without doing this, instead, a program will just crash
on me (sometimes while quitting the program) and when I go to the menu bar
to restart, the finder will quit, then I have to do a force restart.

We've tried everything that we can think of. I have allocated large amounts
of RAM to hungry programs like IE, OE, etc. At various times I have run
Norton, Tech Tool (lite), Disk Warrior, have zapped PRAM and rebuilt
desktop. In addition, we've tossed every useless extension we can think of,
all to no avail! I'll also mention that for some time now, this PB will not
go to sleep, thus implying that something is running in the background, and
perhaps contributing to the problem??

I've pretty much maxed out this PB G3/300, specs are; 512 RAM, 20 G IBM
Travelstar HD, Macally USB and Firewire2go PCMCIA cards, currently running
system 9.1, but it started doing this while it was still system 8.6...

Thanks for any info!

Is $350 the total cost, or is it $350 + parts? If the former, it
could be a bargain; if the latter, I'd suggest checking out
http://www.dttservice.com/, who offer free diagnosis, repair for cost
of parts + $30. I recently suffered another common PB problem,
Lombard CPU death; they replaced it for under $300, including
shipping both ways.

Re: Pismo DVD/CD drive death...

2002-11-16 Thread Ryan Stewart
I don't know if this is true that it is only the DVD module that fails. My
LG 8080 DVD is now dead for the second time, and my battery is dead for the
third time. *BUT this time the two died at the same time* In the
previous repairs, apple has just replaced the modules, obviously this is
only a short (2 month?) term fixit. I think it is a complex problem
involving the motherboard and module, as the folks with the Mashita DVD
drives have a lot less problems.

My applecare is good until Jan 2004 thank goodness!
