On another note, I found a 20gb hard drive at ecost: http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/detail.asp?dpno=399093 I googled the mfg. part number and it turns out it's a Toshiba: http://shop.store.yahoo.com/priorityelectronics/djsa2ibmun20.html Am I correct in assuming this will be compatible with the pismo? -thanks again. Any 2.5 drive 12mm or less will work in a Pismo. If it's cracked in front, make sure the battery charge board is seated correctly. I think you mentioned that you looked at connections, but sometimes it's worth the effort to unplug/replug everything. --- JSH TiBook -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... You can get a 30GB drive in a Firewire case for $90. That may give you a case to use with the old drive, too. --- JSH TiBook -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Panther, Groovy, iChat AV
Yup, finally installed Panther on both the G-4 powerbook and the Pismo. Flawless, swift, excellent. For iChat AV to work, does it require certain hardware? On the Pismo, it said I didn't have the right gear. I need more than firewire? -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... No, you would actually need more speed. iChat AV requires a G3 processor of at least 600MHz. I'm using the shareware iChatUSBCam from Ecamm Network at Ecamm.com to remove this limitation. -Laurent. -- Laurent Daudelin AIM/iChat: LaurentDaudelinhttp://nemesys.dyndns.org Logiciels Nemesys Software mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Fortrash /for'trash/ n.: Hackerism for the FORTRAN (FORmula TRANslator) language, referring to its primitive design, gross and irregular syntax, limited control constructs, and slippery, exception-filled semantics. -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Lombard won't boot after HD replacement
I'm stumped...I was running Panther on my Lombard 400 with 192 MB Ram and the original 6 gig hard drive. I decided to replace the 6 with a 10 gig. So I go thru the install of Panther and when it finishes the first disc it goes right back to the beginning of the install processnever asks for the second disc. Reboot won't see the hard drive to startup but goes to the cd and boots off the disc. The hard drive shows up on the desktop but it won't boot. So, I went through the whole process of Norton, Disk First Aid, Initializing, etc...no luck...same thing...so i tried to install OS 9.1 first and the install went through fine but again it won't startup from the hd. It keeps going to the cd. If I take the cd out, I just get the flashing question mark in the folder in the middle of the screen. I checked Apple's web site for any updates and it doesn't list any needed. Tried the Firmware updates anyhow but it states they are not needed for this machine. Any ideas? I've taken out the top RAM and still nothing. My next step is to put the 6 gig back in. ugh! --- Kevin -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and...
