Bill,
MUCH cheaper to live with it, use external speaker set when you
can (and for better sound) and headphones or earphones when you can't.

Unless its under warranty.
Good luck,

FYI, even though I've never had overrun buffer problem, I found that if I
was burning at the media max speed, sometimes the resulting CDs wouldn't
always play well. At some point, I just decide to burn them slower and
haven't had any problem since. Just a thought...

You can only replace it with another Mercury MLB, later 'Books are too
different to swap.

The only TiBooks which have any real degree of commonality are the first
and second generation DVI 'Books (667/800 and 867/1gHz) which are nearly
identical throughout.

Extreme angle lights out resolved?

The problem I reported several days ago was the iBook screen light
going out in the last few degrees of opening to full. Sent it back to
Apple, they took out a newly installed memory and blamed it on that.
And so it was fixed. And so I put the memory back in to see for

element of function so incrementally? Very strange.

Sorry about the blank reply, I hit the wrong button. Try pressing the
reset swith. It is a little pen-hole switch located inside the port
door. I think it is labeled with a sideways triangle, but I could be

If anyone has any experience using a different Logic Board in the 1st
Generation Titanium, please let me know.
Only the 400/500 Mhz models have the same ports on back. The 667 and
up went to a DVI port instead of the 'standard' db-15 video port. I
also believe the last models changed the configuration of the USB/FW
port locations also.

Questions about replacing a G4 Ti Logic Board

2004-12-06 Thread Bill Gau
Good day all:

I have a newly-acquired Ti Mercury (400Mhz) that has no internal
speaker function . . . the external audio jack works fine but internal
speakers do not.

The Apple resolution for this (after exhausting all non-hardware
efforts) is to replace the logic board, which is what I intend to do.

I am wondering if there are any logic boards from succesive models
that will work in this Powerbook, i.e., 550/667 Logic Mother Board
(non-DVI), etc.

If anyone has any experience using a different Logic Board in the 1st
Generation Titanium, please let me know.

Regards,

Bill

Re: Palm OS ugrade path for Pismo

Subject: Palm OS ugrade path for Pismo

I have Palm OS 2.5 on my Pismo and will be buying a Treo 650 soon. Will
the new Palm OS be able to take all of my 2.5 info and upgrade it so
that it will appear on the new Treo and my Pismo? BTW, I'm using OS 9.2
on my Pismo and OS 10.35 on my G4 MDD.

--
Regards,

--

It should be a fairly painless upgrade. Just read through the
instructions on upgrading and you should have no trouble. Basically you
install the new Palm desktop that comes with your Treo and then sync
your old Palm to it. Then you sync your Treo.

However there a number of old Palm programs won't run on a Treo or any
other Palm OS 5 handheld. The reason is the OS 5 handhelds use
completely different hardware than the older Palms. The new Palms use a
Intel XScale processor while the older models use Motorola DragonBall
processors. Theoretically the Palm desktop is supposed to remove the
problem programs and not install them on the Treo, but this doesn't
always work. If it installs one of these old programs it will lock up
the Treo and you will have to do a hard reset. Then you will need to go
through the sync folder and remove the old programs. Most of these

that you can't live without you may want to check first.
