OT:Gmail and Mail
I have just set up a Gmail account (through Google). Sounds good, with 1GB storage and all. Anybody have this and set it up with Mail yet? How do you like it so far? Googled for this and no clear instructions yet I have not used Mail that much, it is set up for my Hotmail account with HTTP plugin by Daniel Parnell. A short tutorial about how to set it up with Gmail would be very much appreciated if anyone has that info. TIA, Dan- -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... video problem iBook G3
I just bought a G3/800 iBook with 32MB VRAM and have a weird problem. It had Panther installed (not in English) and I wiped the HD, made 2 partitions and installed 9.2.2 on one and Panther + 9.2.2 on the other. 9 installed fine in both cases and everything worked okay, but after I zapped the PRAM and rebuilt the deskop, the desktop on screen turned, and has remained, small, covering about 2/3 of the screen and sitting right in the middle. Checked the monitor control panel and it gave me 2 displays, including an external one: though none was attached. I attached an external display, which showed up mirrored, but the desktop on the iBook remained 2/3. I then installed Panther and the desktop was normal. Everything also worked fine with external monitor attached. I then booted back into 9, with the external monitor attached, and the iBook's desktop filled the whole iBook screen, plus the external one was okay. I then detached the external monitor and rebooted the iBook in 9, and the small desktop problem returned. Any suggestions? Thanks, Chris -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Re: Lost Network connection ???
From: Laurent Daudelin [EMAIL PROTECTED] I'm not sure what is wrong, but in my experience, D-Link routers, when acting as DHCP servers, provide IPs in the range of 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.199 by default. I don't understand how your working Mac can get an IP address of 213.66.212.57. What I think is happening is that your D-Link, for some reason, isn't acting as a DHCP server and doesn't distribute IP addresses anymore. The one your working Mac has is probably provided by your Internet Service Provider DHCP server. When your Mac 2 tries to connect, the DHCP server of your ISP denies giving it an IP address, so it defaults to 169.254.244.32. So, I would check your D-Link configuration, specially the section about DHCP... I think you're right as when I try to log onto the router (192.168.0.1) nothing happens, nor does the print server part of it work anymore. When I've finished with Carracho I will check out the firmware status and reset the thing. Maybe... Cheers! Larry _ Don't just search. Find. I've used them for all sorts of stains where I previously used solvents, with no scratches or damage to the plastics. They should probably work pretty well on that, I've used them to clean slightly textured plastic surfaces before in addition to smooth metal, they're amazing for stuff like scuff marks and whatnot. I should have tried that on the little black mark I had on my old PB on the metal on the side of the screen and beside the keyboard where it contacted it...have no idea what caused it, could never get rid of it... -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... I just checked out the link you gave me. I also poked around that web site and found that they have the same battery listed under different part numbers at different prices. The link you gave me listed it for $103. This link list it for $129 http://www.laptops-battery.com/catalog/product_info. php/products_id/5398 And this link list it for $149. http://www.laptops-battery.com/catalog/product_info. php/products_id/6375 I am wondering if their is a difference in the bateries? Does any one have expierence in purchasing from this company? I did purchase one for my Pismo back then. The battery still performs like the original one. I found the one that was the cheapest and had no problem with it.
