Keyspan or Kensington?
Hi guys, I was wondering if any of you had had any experience with using remote controls with Keynote. I was checking out the Apple Store and the choice seems to be between the Keyspan Presentation Remote and the Kensington Pocket Presenter Wireless Laser. They cost the same, they same pretty similar. I'd be grateful for any opinions. (I have a 12 1.33GHz AlBook) Thanks a lot! Walter -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Acrobat Bar - Excel 2004 ???
Since installing Acrobat, every time I open Excel a tiny bar with two Acrobat icons appear between the two standard toolbars in Excel 2004. This in turn causes the top of the spreadsheet window to lie underneath the lower toolbar, closing the Acrobat buttonbar moves everything up, including the top of the window. EVERY TIME I OPEN A SPREADSHEET :o( Doesn't matter if I close the Acrobat bar, save the document and restart Excel, it's there!! Doesn't matter if someone else finds it useful, I don't and I never wanted it in the first place. Aaargg... Is there anyway of permanentlyu removing the stoopid Acrobat bar ? 512 sticks in the Wallstreet, feasible?
We all know that the Wallstreet can address only memory modules whose RAM chips have a density not higher than 128 Mbits. So the only way to get a 256 MBytes module work on the WallStreet is to choose those with 16 chips: 128 megabits x 16 chips / 8 = 256 megabytes. Well, I have a two spare 512 MByte module taken from dead G3 iBooks. I had a distract look at them and discovered they have 16 chips: so it must be: 256 megabits x 16 / 8 = 512 megabytes. So I put it into the bottom slot of my Wallstreet (With the 500 MHz BlueChip from PowerLogix), since they are 144 pins and the form factor is the same, and surprise! The WallStreet, of course, addressed only 128 megabits for each chip but the results was: 128 megabits x 16 chips / 8 = 256 megabytes. So now my WS had 512 MB. The problem is that the system is now very unstable (either under OS9, VM on and off, or OS X 10.2.8), although it recognizes correctly the two 512 MB sticks as 256 MB. The instability is related to the 512 MB SDR PC 133 (the 384 MB configuration with the original PC 100 sodimms works just fine) or to the top 512 MB that I have reached? Power Supplies --- Mac and PC
I have a 15 Mercury as my personal computer and also need (regretably) to travel with a HP Laptop. Rather than carry 2 Power Supplies, is there something out there that can work with both. I noticed on Kensingtons Web-Site that are ones for PCs with multiple Power Tips and a different one for Macs, but not both. Does this sound like I might need to do some wire cutting and soldering. I'm actually visiting in San Francisco and was going to visit the Apple Store while here. It wasn't very good at moving the mouse pointer, and with our Mitsubishi projector we had to constantly re-activate the mouse mode on it. Real PITA. This was with Windows systems, though. Powerbook Wall Street 266Mhz Problems
Hi, I was wondering if anyone out there could give me a bit of advice. My old Powerbook WallStreet 266Mhz has endured something of a hard life but has always toiled away on my behalf relentlessly. However recently and without warning the hinges sheared and took out the video ribbon cable (the left hand side cable as you are facing the machine from the front). I sourced a pair of hinges and a replacement video cable at reasonable cost and set about replacing them. I was very careful in replacing the ribbon and the hinges (the ribbon is a fiddly job but I got it in place so it rested in the intended way). However when it came to booting up the machine the screen is still dead. Could it be possible that in tearing the ribbon it's possible that the screen could have been knocked out as a result. Prior to the cable getting torn, the display was perfect and never gave me a moments trouble. It seems as though there is no power to the screen whatsoever. Has anyone on the list got any ideas to something I could have disturbed during the process of stripping and rebuilding the machine. The machine still boots on an external monitor just fine, but if at all possible I would like to get the old thing back in working order. It's still my favourite Powerbook.
