Tiger in Lombard (again...)
I just thought of something... What if one stuick the Lombard drive on one of the IDE buses in a QuickSilver and installed Tiger. Obviously using one of those 3.5 IDE - 2.5 IDE converters... New Hard drive question
I'm considering buying a new hard drive from zip zoom fly. They describe the drives as bare, not coming with cables, etc. I intend to put the drive in my Pismo, which currently has the original drive. Do I need cables or what does this mean? I don't know about tiger, but I'm having lots of truble with 10.3.9 and all 3 of my dual usb iBook batterys after installing battery update 1.1. You'll have to remove the old drive from the drive carrier in your Pismo and place it on the new drive (4 screws maybe) and then plug it in. You shouldn't need any extra cables or screws. Debra, No cables needed. Google replacing a hard drive in a Powerbook Firewire and you should get several great sites with photos and step by step procedures. I replaced mine several months ago. It went very smoothly. Easy to access. My first drive was giving me some strange error messages and was somewhat loud. I upgrade to a 40G Travelstar and have been very satisfied. Of course now I could easily get an 80 for what I paid, but 40 has been fine for me... You might also want to consider getting a firewire enclosure for your old drive if it is in good working order and big enough. Makes for a cheap, portable external drive. Also then it is very easy to transfer your data. Haven't tried CCC, but hear a lot of good things about it. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
