Re: New Hard drive question

2005-05-22 Thread Amanda Ward

Hi Debra,

No worries. Swapping drives in the G3 powerbooks is pretty easy. I replaced
the 10GB drive in my iBook with a 40 and then put the 10 in my Wallstreet.
Everything took about an hour and most of that was spent on the iBook.
No extra parts are needed, just watch how everything comes apart and put it
back the same way.

Try this link for your Pismo: http://www.pbfixit.com/Guide/6.0.0.html

HTH,

Amanda

I'm considering buying a new hard drive from zip zoom fly. They
describe the drives as bare, not coming with cables, etc. I intend to
put the drive in my Pismo, which currently has the original drive. Do I
need cables or what does this mean?

 Thanks!

Would the QuickSilver be too different and affect the software
installed or is OS X truly a one system for all ?!?...

That should work just fine.

Don't use it.

What about with a seemingly DEAD battery in a Lombard ?!?

Nothing to lose, but could it wake it up ?!

Burning CD's with Disk burn

2005-05-22 Thread John . E . Abraham

Hi Lister's

I have a Wallstreet 300 Mhz running OS X 10.1.5.

I am trying to backup some of my files to CD's before installing OS X
10.2.

I have come across a problem which I have not had before.

I have placed a new CD-R or CD-RW in the drive an MCE CD-RW, after
naming it, it mounts OK.

I then copy files to it making sure I do not over load it.

When I am ready I drag the image to Disk burn in the Dock, it then
starts its process.

It prepares for burning and starts to burn but then after a few moments
a dialogue box appears.

It relates to being unable to complete the burn due to ERROR 6.

Could any one throw light on the reason for ERROR 6 and what it means as
I am unable to find it out.

I thought it may be due to H/Drive space but I have checked this and
there is 3.88 Gb left which should be more than enough for a 700Mb CD.

Any help would be appreciated

John Abraham UK
