I used to have a Pismo and a Wallstreet, then moved to a Ice Book. You get the same real estate with all three meaning same res 1024x768. But I find the iBook screen sharper and brighter. It just looks like a cleaner image. Depending on the iBook you are also moving into a computer that uses Quartz Extreme, which also just gives the screen a little more detail, things move a little better, etc. I got the 12inch iBook just for the fact that it's smaller then the 14inch. I have a 900mhz G3 iBook, it has QE. Yeah not till they made the 600/700mhz ones did you get QE. I find I have no need for a PC slot. The only time I needed one before was for 1 of 3 things, Firewire, USB, Wireless. Which the iBook have built in. Also unless you go with a Pismo all the other G3 powerbooks have 66Mhz buses, where the iBook have 100Mhz which just makes things run a little faster. One of my friends and a few guys from TechTV did the freeipods.com thing and it really worked. But you do have to join. Most people just joined InfoPhone or whatever it's called, cuz it's free. I do that. So I can load just the system I want. I don't use the localized files. I don't use all the extra printer drivers, stuff like that. Plus the computer normally ships with a system that is a couple update back. So I load the newest system str8 on it, so there is no needs to update. I find doing a clean install to the newest system, instead of update, runs a little better. I am running 10.2.4 on a Wallstreet Powerbook. My system profiler doesn't show me my RAM config. Nothing, not what's in what slot, not what size, etc. Why? Wallstreet start up problem (BIG!)
I am having a problem with my Wallstreet. When I start it up. It goes thru all the normal stuff. Gray screen with apple and then when it goes to the OS X start up screen where you see what is loading it goes dim. Where you can barely see what is on the screen after that loads the screen goes black and you can't do anything. I am running OS 10.2.4 on my wallstreet. When I start up I see the little happy mac. Then my computer restarts with the grey screen with dark gray apple. Why is this? OK Bus/Ram/MHz question. they made a 233, a 266, and a 300 Mhz of the powerbook I have. They all run with 66MHz bus. If the bus is 66Mhz, shouldn't all the processors end in mulitplues of 3? And if the bus is 66MHz, why do they use PC- 100 ram.
