TjL Hello Tim, I have Apple Care on my eMac and in the agreement it says IMAC. It is apparently either one. I called Apple to confirm this. It is very possible that iBook and Powerbook are grouped together too. RK Rossi -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... When I got a confirmation, it now said 5-7 business days after order. Even worse, they waited 3 working days (5 total) after I ordered (again, I'd spoken to a live customer rep, and had gone through the whole financing thing with him) to call me and ask whether this was a real order. DUH! Now, I've just gotten an e-mail saying it won't be shipped until Sept. 2. I never would have gone through the online Apple Store if I'd known the delays were going to be that long. Hope others may benefit from my sad, exasperating experience. -- W. They are extremely reliable. I made the mistake once and ordered from another well known Mac reseller and was very disappointed with their service. Clamshell iBook-USB Storage Support Update
I tried to upgrade my OS 9.1 USB Storage Support software to 1.3.5 on the Apple site. Got it downloaded, read the requirements, says my computer is compatible. However when actually try to install it I get a message that it can't be installed on my computer. I have to use OS 9.1 on this computer because I use a program which is compatible with up to 9.1 only. Thanks, RK Rossi -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... From time to time people ask if there is some way for me to print them. While this is not something I'd have a lot of use for, I thought that maybe a black and white large format printer might not be too expensive. Can any of you give me a recommendation for an inexpensive black and white large format printer that would be compatible with OS X and would print jpeg images? And I'd also like some idea of a price range. Thanks in advance. Oh, and I'd be printing from my Wallstreet II 233/12 inch, running 10.2.8. John Slavin Hello John, Kinkos, in WA State, uses one similar to what we use in our sign business, an Encad Novajet, 300 dpi [ours 600 dpi]. You can find used ones on the market for under $5,000. We found one on eBay, great working order, for less than that. The cable cost is an extra $125.00 to $250.00 or more depending on the printer to interface with a Mac. Epson, HP, Canon also make large format printers. http://www.large-format-printers.org/ The above domain name is self explanatory. : ) RK Rossi -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Clamshell Original: Need Help to Install CD-ROM Drive
New to this group but not lowendmac lists. I have an iBook Clamshell with a CD-ROM drive which no longer accepts CDs. I need a replacement drive and then instructions on how to do it. I feel confident enough that I could do it on my own [learned how to take apart an 8500 over the telephone]. Also it currently has OS X 10.2.x but I would like to go back to OS 9.1. The reason: I have a software issue. So can I just insert an OS 9.1 disk? Or is there one specifically for the iBook? Thanks for any help. - RK Rossi -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and...
