DiskWarrior problem

2003-12-02 Thread Michel Treisman
Thanks to Phil Burk and Darin for comments. I tried running DW from the
CD but even that does not
seem to work OK. It found stuff wrong with one partition, rebuilt the
directory for the partition, replaced the
directory. Then I tried to rebuild the same directory again, and the
same stuff was wrong. Several times.

I am waiting for the next DW update.

Disk Warrior cannot run effectively when launched from a Panther
volume. An
update fro Alsoft is on the way. In the meantime, simply boot from the
Disk
Warrior CD and fix to your heart's content. Frankly, Using DW from the
CD is
always the best way to go.

Hope this helps.

Mike,
Is your Mac capable of booting into Mac OS 9? Next question... Do you have a
copy of Disk Warrior prior to Disk Warrior X. I think the version was 2.1.x.

If you can boot into 9 and have the Disk Warrior CD, try running it from
there.

Otherwise, I'm stumped. Please let us know how this situations pans out.

Good luck.

Mike,

Two things. One, got a recent backup? *grin* Two, contact Alsoft
tech support with this issue if you have a drive that never seems to be
repaired with DW. If you are using DW 3 does the SMART check return
that the drive is functioning OK? I suspect that you may have a
hardware problem if DW cannot fix recurring errors.

DiskWarrior problem

2003-12-02 Thread Michel Treisman
Darin,
I have a Tibook, 1 GHz, which doesn't boot into OS 9, as far as I know.
From the CD, DW rebuilds three partition directories, but on the
fourth partition,
as I said, the rebuilding doesn't take. If it worries me too much, I
will erase the
fourth partition and reinstall 10.3. Till then, I'll wait for Alsoft
to update DW

All the best,Mike

If I'm not mistaken you shouldn't be able to successfully run DW under
Panther. Boot from a Jaguar disk.
