Usually, it's a refurbed. Sometimes, you get a new one. Never the old one
fixed. Sometimes, you might even be lucky and get an "upgrade". For
instance, I had a Maxtor 120GB that died within the first 30 days. Sent it
back to Maxtor to get a replacement. I got a new drive, but instead of a
120GB, it was a 160GB!

Ones that are sold OEM e.g. to Apple for use in Powerbooks have a 1 year.

be sure to call IBM and check on the warranty on that drive before you
chuck it. Many of the travelstar drives have a 3 year warranty. Even if
you need to purchase a new drive sooner, you can have that one fixed
under warranty and get a working drive back to use in an external case,
or sell to offset the cost of a new drive.

Ok, I have a 500mhz Pismo. All has been fine, I tried to start it
up,
but all I get is click, click, click from the drive. It has a 48 gig
Travelstar in it. After the clicking, it shows the question mark and
the finder folder. I tried booting with tech tool pro, all it found
for volumes was the CD!! I really hope this is not the end of my hard
drive.

Please help!!!
