Re: Battery Time Left (Pismo)

I use it on a TiBook and an AlBook both with 10.4.4. I've never had a
problem with Panther nor Tiger.
Try deleting theorg.orange-carb.SlimBatteryMonitor.plist file
from your user/library/preference folder.

John,

I use SlimBatteryMonitor as well. In fact, that application is how
I first noticed my problem. What hardware/OS are you using? Some
others with a Pismo have had my same problem. SlimBatteryMonitor
stopped showing the time left, just about when I updated to Tiger.

In fact, after all my testing, I still run it in the Menu bar.

Just hoping for a fix so I don't have to switch to Dashboard every
time I want to see the time left...

Tjhis is a Pismo-specific Tiger issue. My wife's Pismo was also
unable to calculate the remaining battery/charge time after the
update from Panther to Tiger. It's a known - and unfixed - bug. I'm
not sure Apple cares too much about it.

Re: Battery Time Left

2006-01-19 Thread Daniel Colwell

On Sunday, Jan 15th, I started this thread:

For some reason I can no longer get info on how long my battery has
left in hours and minutes.

I can get the info in percentage, but if I ask for it to be shown as
time left, it says calculating... or is just a blank, depending on
which program I use to measure it. I have show battery status in the
menu bar checked in the Energy Saver Systems Preference. I also use
SlimBatteryMonitor. Both show the same percentage, but no longer the
time.

As best I remember this was working up till just a week or so ago.

I have a 400MHz Pismo, 40G, 768MB. I recently upgraded to Tiger and
then 10.4.3. Could have been the same time. Battery is fairly new. I
was getting about 4 hours or so last I remember seeing the time. Is
this a Tiger issue?

I tried running just on battery till it went to sleep (about 1-2 %),
then charging to full. Did this twice, still no joy so I tried
reset-

nvram, reset-all. Still nothing but %.

I've got the same problem with a 500 MHz Pismo running a clean install
of Tiger with 512 Mb RAM.
It's a new aftermarket battery so I haven't worried about it but it
would be nice to have.
I did try running it down till it shut off but that made no
difference.

Seems like if my 520 could figure out time remaining the Pismo should
be able to manage it.

Various upgrades to Tiger screwed up Apple's battery monitor
software. Try using one of the freebee aftermarket ones found at
versiontracker.com. They seem immune to the upgrade bug.

OK, I have downloaded several aftermarket ones from versiontracker.
None of them show minutes left. Any specific one that anyone knows

I repaired my permissions and downloaded 10.4.4 to be completely up
to date. Battery however is not Original Apple.

Still no time showing... So I thought maybe a Widget would work and
downloaded EVERY Widget that said it would monitor my battery. Some
of them wouldn't even show that I had a battery, some constantly
showed 0%, and one (miniStat Battery) not only showed the %, but
showed it up to a tenth of a % (89.5% instead of just 89%).

And then I struck paydirt. Juice http://www.islayer.net/
viewWidget.php?id=11 showed the time left! Not only when I was using
just the battery, but how long, in hours and minutes, it would be
until it was fully charged as I was charging it!! Now how can iSlayer
a small team of focused widget and web developers get the details
just right and so many others, including Apple, drop the ball.

Anybody know the best way to let Apple know and have the best chance
of getting something fixed? I would still love to have that info up
in the Menu where I could see it all the time. Oh well, give Juice a
shot (freeware at that), and let me know if it works. Or if anything
else does as well.

Thanks,
