iTunes gift certificate. [semi off-topic]
I know it's not really about notebooks, but I don't think there's a LEM list perfectly suitable for this. Anyway, the iTunes Music Store opened today in the Netherlands, which opens many possibilities... and already one issue. My friend is having a birthday soon and I thought of giving her a gift certificate. As far as I understand it, the moment I fill in the form, she will receive a nice looking certificate in her email, and she will be able to redeem it. Question 1: Will she be forced to register in any way to redeem the certificate? I'm especially concerned about such issues as credit card, etc. I don't want to give her something she won't be able to use. Question 2: I would prefer to give her a certificate in print, and I'd prefer to test it earlier than on her birthday (otherwise I still have time to regroup and think of something else :) ). Would it work if I sent a certificate to one of *my* emails, and then print the necessary information? I suppose there's some sort of code or link involved, or is it more complicated? The info on iTunes is pretty sketchy, and while I can test it all myself, I'd rather ask first, hoping some of you already know the answer. Thanks! As far as I can tell, she will have to create an Apple ID to get on the iTunes music store. There is no way around the credit card. I setup an account for my son recently and tried over and over to find a way around the credit card. I don't know if I overlooked something, but I couldn't find any way around it: if you want to use the iTunes Music Store in any way, you need to have an Apple ID. If you want to create an Apple ID, you have a some point to supply your credit card number. I don't know about mailed gift certificate since I never used them. But I think it will be a moot point since she will have to create an Apple ID anyway to redeem the certificate, no matter if it is electronic or printed. I wish someone will prove me wrong, but I'm not holding my breath... -Laurent. -- Laurent Daudelin Developer, Multifamily, ESO, Fannie Mae mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]Washington, DC, USA Usual disclaimers apply *** -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... You might be right, the fine print says open only to persons above the age of 13, but details mention that when you're below 18, you have to get your parents' permission (and probably credit card number) -- unfortunately, my knowledge of Dutch is rather basic.
