Howdy, After reading your message, I am thinking a used Pismo might indeed make a good bedroom system. I have two questions. 1. How quiet is the Pismo? I have never used one. Some laptops have noisy fans, but I don't know about this one. 2. This one is a long shot. Do you know how much power it consumes? I would hope it draws a lot less than the iMac that started this thread. I use a Kill a Watt to measure true power consumption on my computers. You don't happen to have a device like that, do you? Re: Blueberry iMac
I have had a Pismo for almost 10 years now. It is a great machine, very reliable. I put a new 120gb hard drive in it because I needed more space. It is powerful enough for most applications I use and for its day. The 15 inch screen is so nice. My only issue is now it needs a new battery and the video quality for some of todays applications shows its age. I dont have power consumption info but my Pismo is quiet. Thanks, Dennis Dennis Myhand If you want an optical (laser) mouse, Dennis, and don't want to tear apart the old one, keep your eyes open for the apple pro mouse. It's from about the same era as your mac, so it should match your equipment just fine. Besides, most people find the old puck mice rather uncomfortable, anyway. --James Chapel -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. Re: Blueberry iMac
Uh...I am 53 years old and still have most of all ten fingers (some shorter than others, your finger mileage may vary) and I have not intention of doing anything to a mouse with an x-acto knife! I will use a M$ Intelli-mouse or something like that and keep the puck for looks. I mean, how hard is it to upgrade the processor, memory, and hard drive? I want to make it go faster, not work on a mouse! How do I find out which revision it is? It is a tray loading model, not slot loading. and it is running 8.6 Ralph Green wrote: Howdy, I'll start with the mouse. It can be upgraded to a LED mouse, but it is a pretty fair amount of work. Thanks, Dennis There's a tray you can pull out that lets you access the RAM for upgrading; Hard drives takel a little more work, but it doesn't require any special tools. http://www.macworld.com/article/2496/2001/10/howtoimac.html -- Bruce Johnson Wherever you go, there you are B.
