Re: [Audyssey] idea regarding monty
Hi. I may do that once it gets to a beta point. Right now it is just entering Alpha stage which is a testing cycle that comes before beta. All that says is the game is very incomplete, many features are not supported, but it works. Yohandy wrote: > How about releasing a purchasable beta? like is happening with rail racer? [Audyssey] star wars
NB: This email and its contents are subject to our email legal notice which can be viewed at http://www.sars.gov.za/Email_Disclaimer.pdf Hi all I read all the posts sent about star war games. I play the demo of trek 2000. I must say that's a difficult kind of star war game. There's so many concepts that is totally greek. I don't understand degrees and all that, there's just a lot of difficult concepts in trek 2000. Is USA'S games's star trek also that difficult? Take a game like dark destroyer. I think you can also classify it as a star wars game. Can't USA games develop a star war game similar to dark destroyer where you also move with your space ship through space and shoot down enemies? I thought it can be done like this: you travel through space, say you have 100 levels in the game. For example, you visit 10 galaxies and on each galaxy you visit 10 planets. ON each planet you have to destroy enemies before they land on earth. There's also bonus objects like stars that you must shoot to get bonus points. If they land before shooting them, they won't cause you to loose the game but you just miss out on bonus points. Say for instance you move your space ship. When you hear a star descending directly to the left of you, you press control+left arrow to shoot it. If it is not directly to the left of you you have to move with left and right arrows so that it's volume is loud enough. Then you press the control key together with the corresponding arrow key to collect it. ON each galaxy there is a boss you have to win before going on to the next galaxy. This is just how I would like to play a star war game. Trek 2000 is too technical. I read through the manual numerous times now already and it seems to me you really have to be super intelligent to play that game. I'm really crazy about star war games, but I don't want to purchase a game where I must really make an in-depth study to play it, I want to enjoy it without having to swot the manual first. Thomas, if you can give it some thought in the future, to release a star wars game similar to dark destroyer but with more ships to shoot and bonus objects like stars to shoot. If you make such a game with 100 levels for instance, you can make it a purchase game. That's just my ideas on a star war game. ___ Gamers mailing list .. Re: [Audyssey] stfc demo question
Hi, Ivan. Well, if you are in to either Star Trek type games or strategy games you will like it. If you are neither you will just have to try it and form your own opinion. For a beginner the game takes quite a while to master as the key to success or failior is the strategy you use to beat the enemy fleets, and well it puts you in the admiral's seat, and you get to command an entire fleet of ships and bases to hopefully stop the enemy invasion. The second half is a strategy to finish off the enemy by successfully entering each enemies home space and clearing out the remaining pockets of resistance. [Audyssey] Moderator note was free game!
Hi, listers. I think as a mod I need to step in on this subject and lay down a couple of small ground rules. When a fellow lister emails you asking if you want something please send your requests directly to that other lister via his or her email address directly and not to the list. Most of us want to discuss games or how to make games here, and don't wish to receive several, "can I get it to," type emails. Second, is probably some advice for Ivan. In the future you might want a fellow game developer to test and post your game on a web site so you don't have to email out several copies. Also many people are concerned with getting email attachments, and many email clients now have attachment blocking and stripping features for this reason. ___ Gamers mailing list .. [Audyssey] borg hint was Re: difference between Trek2000 and stfc
Hello Ron and list, Ron when i saw your byline "The devastated" i had to write to give you a hint against the borg. And then i thought, the list can use this too, so here goes. When engaging the borg do not, i repeat do not, attack them with a single ship, unless you intend for that ship to be sacrificed as a delaying action, giving the rest of your fleet time to gather elsewhere. Re: [Audyssey] stfc first impressions
Hi, Allan. That is one reason developers have public betas to get feedback on what is working and what isn't. The game you are playing today wouldn't be possible without all the testers and fans who sent countless suggestions, ideas, request, etc which all added to the enjoyment. I was merely the tool which made those request a reality, and well had to make developer decisions on what was and was not possible. I also had to do allot of thinking on how to balance things out so the game was tough but fair. allan thompson wrote: > Hi Thomas, I only managed to play one fight in the beginner level and I was > shocked to find myself losing! Hi, Ryan. When you press the jump button or key Angela jumps up, and in the direction she is facing. If Angela is facing right she jumps up and then over to the right. If she is facing left she jumps up and over towards the left. If she is facing up she jumps strait up only. So point is no matter the direction she jumps in to the air but if facing left or right as she is jumping up she is also heading in that direction as well. ___ Gamers mailing list .. Re: [Audyssey] What's ahead for Montezuma's Revenge.
What the heck? Here's my thought. Tom, I mentioned before that I believe your artistic integrity to be the sole deciding factor in how you handle your game production, but seeing as how others are clamoring for Arizona, why not make him unlockable? At the end of the game, if you scored a certain amount of points, you could use Arizona Smith. If you wanted to, you could make him slightly different--give him less health, make him slower, or some such. Heck, if you finished the game with Arizona Smith and enough points, you might even unlock the original Panama Joe--a pixilated, 2 bit sounding character with one point of health. Sort of anachronistic and charming in its own way. Ryan -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Thomas Ward Sent: Monday, May 22, 2006 2:16 AM To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: [Audyssey] What's ahead for Montezuma's Revenge. Hi, listers. Many of you are wondering about details on the new Montezuma's Revenge. So here is what is currently happening with Monty. * As of the latest build, 5/22/2006, Monty now has one of the highest quality sounding environments of any accessible game on the market. It sounds so real it sounds almost as good as a dvd or like you are in a movie. I guess it has to be heard to be believed. * Some bugs have just been fixed such as the game having slow proformence while moving the game character such as walking, jumping, climbing, etc. * Joystick and game support is now fully apart of the game. Some issues remain with the functionality, but I am working towards addressing that soon. As well as a built in joystick button mapper so that you may map your joystick for your preference. * Temple 2 is now in the works. Once I am done with temple 2, and I am sure everything is stable to test I will post Alpha 1 for release. Which means we could have a release by June to play with. All depends on how much time it takes tracking down the current issues. Finally a question. I have had a few requests on the directed to USA Games sales asking us to put Arazona Smith back in to the game. Anyone else agree with this, apose this, or don't care? Send us your thoughts. Re: [Audyssey] Montezuma's Revenge Users Guide.
Tom, I'm assuming from this manual that the jump button actually jumps you forward instead of jumping you straight up? 99% of the games I've ever played had the jump key move you straight up unless you pressed an arrow with it, in which case you would jump left or right. The one exception which comes to mind is the old version of Conan the Barbarian. Can you shed some light on this? Thanks, Ryan ___ Gamers mailing list .. Hi, Raul. No problem. I was thinking of doing that anyway so you are just reinforcing my own ideas. [Audyssey] USA Games suggestion
Hi. I write this here in the hopes it can be seen by others to get opinions so Tom, I hope you do not mind. I'm wondering if you would be open minded to a couple of changes or suggestions in the documentation for your games. I was going over the Final Conflict manual and have the following suggestions to make. 1. Make the manual in either .txt ascii or .htm html format. 2. Add a simple navigation system lsimilar to what BSC Games and GMA Games does like plus signs, minus signs, or at signs to separate sections. If making the manual in html format this could easily be accomplished by the use of heading tags. What do you think? -- For every credibility gap, there is a gullibility fill. -- R. Clopton Raul A. Re: [Audyssey] free game!
Hi Ivan, It's great that you are giving away a free game, but without you having a web site and contact information asking people to try it out is a possible security problem for them. Just a few months ago someone on the Blind Cool Tech list said that he was working on a free sound editing program but people trying it out found that it was a virus that attacked JFW. So unless someone I know downloads and tries it out first I do not want to be a guinea pig. Re: [Audyssey] What's ahead for Montezuma's Revenge.
Hi Tom, I am not sure if this would work, but I was thinking that allot of developers put all of the sound files in a sub folder, well I was thinking that you could have a separate sub folder, one for male and one for female and then the choice in the game would select which voice sub folder to use. Just thought that might be an easy way to include both voices. BFN Jim Money can't buy happiness, but allows a choice of misery. [Audyssey] STFC SP1 released.
Hi, gamers. USA Games Entertainment would like to announce the immediate availability of STFC service pack 1 in a galaxy near you. This service pack fixes several major and miner bugs in 1.0 beta. Among the issues addressed is problems with the autopilot menus, repairing of Defiant's cloaking device, starbase and starship power-ups, updates to the Borg AI, and more. In addition as per popular request standard Federation phasers are much stronger, but less than the Defiant's phasers. So warp on over to http://www.usagames.us go to the downloads page and download the service pack from the STFC SP1 link. Enjoy. ___ Gamers mailing list ..
