Hi Sly!

Thank you for the url. I just put it in my favorites. Have you
downloaded the lw missions from 95 to 99i?
I have another 7 to 10 here pretty soon. I have read the manual on
audiogamemaker and it looks interesting. It does not look to difficult to
use. I think I will talk to David Greenwood about his engine.

Blessings!

Hello Tom. This is a great idea what you mention. That is one of the
things I especially like about Judgment Day. The game play is the
tipical space invadors, but what makes it have a lot of replay value is
getting the trophies and the unlockable bonus games, and the theater
stuff.

That is just my opinion though.

No. I was just thinging about that if the ship was disabled, you could pick
the loot option, and a random piece of tech would beamed to your ship and
there would be a 50 50 chance of it working or not. And I do know that such
things as transwarp coils will work with federation designs. Maybe it could
be a cheat or some kind after you've beaten the game.

What people have to realize is. I have to manually generate codes, and I
have been on a bus for 8 hours. I was really really tired last night and
fell asleep as soon as I got in. I'm tryign to keep everyone happy, but
there's aeen a huge demand for the game so I'm working as fast as I can.
I'm as excited about the game as you guys are, so give me some time, and
everyone will have unlock codes who orders it.

I think there is a load of bugs here.
I made a mistake in my birthday and well the server got a partual entery
except it wouldn't let me validate the first part.
Paypal worked for me for once although I wish there was another method.
I had to use sighted help to read the varification as the audio didn't play.
I got 2 recipts which I printed and stored.
NOthing else has come yet.

Re: [Audyssey] STFC 2.0 questionnaire.

2006-12-14 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,

Quote
I would love a real-time fleet-command game, but there is a
caveat. In order for that to be the most satisfying, the order
language would need to be sophisticated enough to allow for some
fairly fine control of your other ships.
End quote

That does seam like one reason for ruling out real time play. Massive
real time command and strategy is difficult to program at best.
As you probably know GTC has simple instructions like go north, south,
east west, follow, stay, etc... I was thinking the same although that
doesn't really help plan major offensives.
The AI needed to successfully play would be complicated as the
Federation starships would have to be able to not just react to enemy
offensives but be able to go on the offensive as well.

Quote
  I would also want the
ability to designate flag ships for different fleet elements and
switch back and forth between them, so as to be available to command
conflicts in separate locations.
End Quote

Yeah, that would be a problem. I wasn't thinking of switching commands
like that, but having one ship, and the others under AI driven commanders.
If you could switch you would potentially loose track of any offensive
under way under your previous command, and end up losing that ship or
ships to enemy attack.

Quote
This would mean that ships not
under command would need to have a fairly robust AI to handle
themselves in combat.
End quote

Yes, and is the most difficult aspect of going rts if it goes that way.

Quote
A fleet command (based at a star base) would
also be useful so as to be able to monitor the entire military situation.
End snip

Well, as over all commander of the fleet I would think you could gather
that info from anywhere you were.

Anyway, those are some good thoughts.

Re: [Audyssey] STFC 2.0 questionnaire.

2006-12-14 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Shaun,
I am strongly looking at putting the hull back in to sTFC.
The reason for removing it was to make it like Trek 2k where when the
shields went below 0 bam lights out. However, I remember there was more
fun in say Alpha 4 when you could lose shields and still successfully
escape on 50% hull integraty.
Then, there was the time involved in rebuilding your hull at the station.
If you didn't have a station, well, you were out of luck.
Grin.

Re: [Audyssey] the fun of playing games - Re: Judgment Day Boss beating recordings

2006-12-14 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi charles,
There is allot of fun in learning to play a game. Yes, it seams
frustrating at first, but in the end when you beat the game and there is
nothing new it looses it's hold and replay value really quickly. Giving
out cheats or hints only makes the fun faze go away much faster for me.'
I remember when I baught SOD 1.0. I can remember playing every day for
about three months trying and trying to beat the game. At least so I
could get 2 points and get cheats.
Well, as I recall I didn't get the 2 points until I beat the boss
the first time, and for some reason I forgot to write out my cheat
codes, but it was fun and satisfying beating the game with no outside
help the first time through.
I noticed once I did get those cheat codes there was some humor in
blasting through walls, being untouchable by monsters, unloading all the
ammo I wanted, but never as fun as having beating that first game all
the way through with no outside help at all.
Hmmm... maybe I'll go play now on today is a good day to die. My
favorite level.
Smile.

Re: [Audyssey] just venting about people and JD trophies

2006-12-14 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Raul,
Yeah, I find when I put the GTC or SOD cheats in usually it ruins the
experience. What fun is it if I can kill without being seen or if the
monsters can't kill you anyway.
Although, I do like the fact SOD has the cheat code unlock feature. You
must reach at least 2 points before obtaining the codes.
I'm on the fence when it comes to adding cheats for my own games. They
are easy enough to add, but I'd like to have some sort of unlock feature
if I did where they would have to beat the game once to get them, or
everytime he/she beat the game they got one cheat code.

Re: [Audyssey] STFC 2.0 questionnaire.

2006-12-14 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,
Honestly, that seams like it would be rather unlikely in a combat
situation. Even if you could insert your strike team in to the Borg ship
there is no way you could grab the gear and get back without loosing
most of your team.
Even then there is no garentee the stuff you stole would work with
Federation hardware.
For STFC 2 I am thinking of more practical changes like adding mines,
ability to locate cloaked ships at a certain distance, probably a miss
variable that you could miss at a certain distance, and random damage
counters.

Hi Raul,
I agree with you that all to many want to take the easy way out, and
have all the answers handed on a platter. Sadly, what they fail to
understand is the excitement of discovery.
Over the past few months I have been plyaing Sryth. I only ask a
question when I am truly stuck, and can't make any progress at all.
However, I make several honest attempts first.
One of the tings I like about that game is the excitement of discovering
something new, and finding what happens if I do this or that.
In Judgement Day I am as eager as anyone to start getting the
unlockables, but I want to buy the game first and try and see what I can
earn on my own without hints, tricks, or outside help.

Re: [Audyssey] Cheating was just venting about people and JD trophies

2006-12-14 Thread Richard Sherman
Hi,
My parents are avid gamers. They love the link series and the such. They
will take about a year to play a game. They will get stuck and I claim that
I could look up on the internet how to get passed that or some kind of cheat
for that particular spot. My parents refuse every time. of course I was just
joking with them because I know that they feel that difficulty of a
particular situation and then figuring it out is what makes game play what
it is. Take that away and you take all the fun out of it.

[Audyssey] Configuring Zmud

2006-12-14 Thread Richard French
Hi list, I obtained a copy of Zmud and I also have the JFW Zmud plug-in.
I have it configured to where it is usable, but there's some changes I would
still like to make if possible.
Is there away to set it so Zmud doesn't echo everything I type?
I would like to find a way to make a key combination for moving in different
directions instead of having to type n for north and so on.
Lastly if jaws is reading text and I start to type, jaws stops reading and I
have to use the jaws cursor to read the screen.
Is there a way to stop this?
I really like this mud client.
Scripts for it would be nice, but since there doesn't seem to be any, all
help to make this program more user friendly would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

No, I had not but laughed when I read it after sending my message.

While it's true that many companies for mainstream games provide cheat
books and codes I still feel it takes away from the learning aspect of
the game.

What about looting borg ships and other ships for there tech. For example,
you could diisable the ship with some difficulty of course, then there would
be an option to loot things like transwarp coils, cloaking devices, and

[Audyssey] just venting about people and JD trophies

2006-12-14 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi. If you don't want to see or read about me venting then skip this
now.

Still with me? Good.

This is not a flame by any means, nor is it an attack on any one person.
So, keep this in mind when reading my venting.

.
.
.
.
.
.

Ok, if you are still here, then read on.

I really get annoyed when people want the silver platter handed to them
not even a week after a game comes out. This great game has not even
been out for a week and already there are several messages from people
asking how to get trophies, how to unlock stuff, how to do this, that,
or the other. As Liam stated in an earlier message, part of the replay
value is in discovering the creative ways to unlock bonus games, get
trophies, more movies, etc. If the people who have done this were to
give out all the information then what replay value would this game
have? I feel this same way about using cheat codes to win the game.
Sure, if you use them, you can do some fun things, but then the game for
me gets boring.

Ok, I'm off my soap box and I'm done venting.

.
.
.
.
.

Now, back to gaming. I need to try and beat some of those awesome scores
on the JD scoreboard.

[Audyssey] to Liam: Contacting issues

2006-12-14 Thread Neo
Hi,
I've now sent the same private message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] like three times,
even using the direct link at your contact page the last time. I've been
getting delivery failure notices all the time, and I'm not really sure if the
last attempt was successful or not. My isp apparently doesn't like the
l-works.net domain. So, is there any other way of contacting you than e-mail or
MSN (I do not have that)? Something like icq, for example...
If the message didn't get delivered, it's something of high importance that I
wouldn't like to get lost. So, please, contact me at:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
if relevant, telling me another contact method. I'm sure it will work the other
way - sending a message from you to me. If not, then I'll probably put up a
file containing the text of the message on a web or ftp server somewhere and
will give you direct access to it.
Thanks in advance and sorry for the inconvenience.

Re: [Audyssey] the fun of playing games - Re: Judgment Day Boss beatingrecordings

2006-12-14 Thread Liam Erven
With this game. Not really. The replay doesn't come with beating the game.
It comes with unlocking trophys to enhance the game. The game itself takes
10 minutes to beat, but the fun isn't in beating the game as it is being
better than everyoen else and unlocking things.

beatingrecordings

Just curious about something, and I thought other list members could put
their input into a discussion: Firstly, how long has this game been
available to gamers? Now, having asked that question, here is my point and
a thought for discussion: Recordings are already surfacing that will show
you how to beat the game if you are stuck? While I appreciate these being
made available, I have to ask: So soon?? And at least 1 request has been
made for them? My thoughts are that if you are shown how to beat the game
this soon after it has been released, this will take away from the replay
value of the game. You just get a game and are already giving up after just
a few days?? Work at the game for a good long while before you have the
method of winning given to you. I wouldn't even think of asking until I
have worked at it for at a minimum of 2 months. A good example is Grizly
Gulch. Once you beat that game, there's nothing left to do. Their second
game was, from what I understand, a bit harder to beat, but the same thing
happens once you beat the game. Now that I can beat it because I know the
solutions to the puzzles, what do I do with the game? If Liam's game has
surprises that weren't there the last time you played, or if things are
randomized, that would give the game replay value, and if you're always
trying to play better, and you can do so to attain a higher score, that's
replay value--improve from your high score. But isn't part of the fun of
playing a game the challenge of figuring out, on your own, how to beat it
the first time?
