Hello All, my name is Cara, and I'm a coder for Audio Quake. I've
written a series of mods for the game called Jedi Quake and I thought I'd
hop on to this list for a bit.

Hope all of you are having a most wonderful holiday season and I look

Re: [Audyssey] STFC 2.0 questionnaire.

2006-12-16 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,

Quote
I think that you should make a real-time, one-ship game first since we
already have a turn-based one.
End quote
it needs improving and all, but
That seams to be the most practical solution I have heard yet. Then
again it won't be STFC, but another ST game. Now, if we go with the
realtime one ship game we have 5 ST series to think about we have the
TOS series, Voyager, Enterprise, TNG, and DS9. All of them have
different abilities, and in some cases different enemies.
Voyager would be very interesting as there are all kinds of different
races to fight Kazon, Borg, Swarm, Species 8742, and anything else from
the delta quadrant. Only problem is I don't have any of the effects for
the delta quadrant races. In fact, I'd have to watch some shows to here
some of the races effects to try and recreate them.
With DS9 yeah we would obviously have the Defiant, and then we could do
the Klingon war or the Dominion War, or fight various enemies through
out the galaxy.
With TNG they were never at war at that time, but there are conflicts
with the Borg, Romulans, House of Duras, etc which we could play upon
and make missions centered around those conflicts.

Re: [Audyssey] compiler

2006-12-16 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,
Before I can suggest a compiler for you I need to know what programming
language the game is written in such as: C++, Visual Basic, Visual C#,
Java, Python, etc...
Every programming language requires it's own type of compiler such as
Java requires the Sun JDK javac compiler, Visual C#.net needs Visual C#
Express, Visual Basic 6 needs VB 6, VB.NET needs VBExpress, and so on.
If it is Visual Basic 6 there are no free compilers, but most other
languages such as C++, Python, Java, C#.NET, VB.NET, etc have free IDEs
and compilers.

Re: [Audyssey] STFC 2.0 questionnaire.

2006-12-16 Thread Dark
Hi.

I very much like this idea, sinse it's the exploration angle of Star trek
that has always been most intreaguing to me, and having this in a game,
exploring teretory and doing missions would be great.

Tng is my personal favourite Trek series, but what you say about voyager is
quite intreaguing, especially from an exploration angle.

Another alternative might be, rather than using an established story Arc, to
create a story for the game set in the St universe, possibly involving
another ship (though obviously staying as close to the plausable cannon as
possible).

that way you could include different plot elements and races.

Beware the Grue.

Dark.

Re: [Audyssey] Jedi Quake was Hello, and a quick intro...

2006-12-16 Thread Cara Quinn
Hi, well, first you'll need to install Audio Quake, and then, you'd
simply download the latest version of JQ (which is v 4) and then all you
need do, is simply press enter on the qmod file you download, and it will
install automatically into your copy of Audio Quake.

This version of JQ is only for use in deathmatch, I.E. against bots or
other humans. However, version 3.8 has a DM and Single player (SP) version
which are labeled so you can choose which you'd like...

You can find both AQ and JQ at:

http://tbrn.net/modgirl

The Audio Quake installs are in the AQ folder and the JQ versions / docs
/ source are on the immediate page without needing to browse. There are
two installs for AQ, one has extra XP voices (MS Mary and Mike) and the
other does not...

Oh, one quick but important note; if your AQ install conflicts with Jaws,
if you use such, it will work with narrator, and the qmod install for JQ
will work fine eitherway...

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask away!

   Have fun!!!

Smiles,

Cara

  Hi Don,
GMA's Engine is pretty nice for amature developers, but it does have a
pretty big price tag attached to it.
I'd only go for the engine if you were seriously considering commercial
development. Otherwise it is much cheaper to learn a language such as
C#.NET, download Visual C# Express for free, DirectX SDK, and start
  writing games.

Re: [Audyssey] sryth question

2006-12-16 Thread Bryan Peterson
You could actually get the Hale Blade now, it just might take some luck. You
have to win the Thane's Tournament, then take the gold cup to Bryniver's in
the north part of the city where the monastery is. Sell the cup to Bryniver
(try to haggle with him until you get 2500 gold, so save your game before
going to him), and then ask him if he has anything for sale. Hell show you
the Hale Blade. If you don't have enough money right then, say no and leave.
You can come back later and he'll still have it for you.

However, version 3.8 has a DM and Single player (SP)
 version
which are labeled so you can choose which you'd like...

   Have fun!!!

Re: [Audyssey] STFC 2.0 questionnaire.

2006-12-16 Thread david
What if we have five ships such the defiant for ds9, voyager, enterprise d
for tng, enterprise for tos, and enterprise nx01 for enterprise. On
enterprise, you might have to fight the zendi, and for tos, you could always
fight the romulans or klingons, or if you want to be very creative, you can
make up some enemies.

 Hi,

Although, I do like the fact SOD has the cheat code unlock feature. You
must reach at least 2 points before obtaining the codes.
I'm on the fence when it comes to adding cheats for my own games. They
are easy enough to add, but I'd like to have some sort of unlock

 Hi Don,
GMA's Engine is pretty nice for amature developers, but it does have a
pretty big price tag attached to it.
I'd only go for the engine if you were seriously considering commercial
development. Otherwise it is much cheaper to learn a language such as
C#.NET, download Visual C# Express for free, DirectX SDK, and start
 writing games.

to
use. I think I will talk to David Greenwood about his engine.

Re: [Audyssey] Jedi Quake was Hello, and a quick intro...

It's talking about the MindGrid audio which is enhanced audio for Quake,
and I believe the proper pak file is pak1.pak which is located in your
Audio Quake folder in the id1 folder. Not sure how you'd have two, but you
can safely move that pak file if you need to and then move it back to see
if the error goes away. If you have the full version of Quake, the pak
should be pak 2, but if you have the share ware, it should be pak 1.

Anyway, let me know more about the error and when it occurs.

Re: [Audyssey] Jedi Quake was Hello, and a quick intro...

2006-12-16 Thread Cara Quinn
Hello, after you install AQ and then install the qmod file, you would
then run AQ and at the first screen, you'll be presented with a menu of
choices. One of these is to press m for a list of the currently installed
mods. You can then follow the instructions to advance through the list and
run the appropriate mod.

   Hope this helps!...

Re: [Audyssey] Hello, and a quick intro...

2006-12-16 Thread Cara Quinn
Hey Tom, am happy to help out with that. I may actually do a pod cast
on Audio Quake / the two current mods for it as well. There is JQ, and
another from a different developer, called Overkill.

It's interesting, as Audio Quake itself is a mod for Quake, so he and I
are both modding a mod! lol!

Anyway, as far as holding keys down and such, you can either press or
press / hold the up or down arrows to go forward / backward respectively,
however, the left / right arrows are just tapped. I may be working on
changing that in future so that they can also be held down for a smooth
turn, so we'll see... As it is, it's a 16 point turn, with each press of
the left or right arrow turning you 22.5 degrees.

One way of identifying the sounds, (though crude) would be to go into
your sounds folder in id1 and there you will find the various folders for
the AQ sounds, which are pretty self explanatory.

   Anyway, hope this helps...

The Audio Quake installs are in the AQ folder and the JQ versions /

   are
two installs for AQ, one has extra XP voices (MS Mary and Mike) and the
   other does not...

Oh, one quick but important note; if your AQ install conflicts with
   Jaws,
if you use such, it will work with narrator, and the qmod install for
   JQ

Hi, well, first you'll need to install Audio Quake, and then, you'd
simply download the latest version of JQ (which is v 4) and then all
  you
need do, is simply press enter on the qmod file you download, and it
  will
install automatically into your copy of Audio Quake.

This version of JQ is only for use in deathmatch, I.E. against bots or

Yes, for some reason, at times, IE wants to download that format as zip
rather than preserving it's extension. It doesn't happen all the time for
everybody though so go figure! lol!

Anyway, one only need change the file name back to qmod and all shall be
well! smile

[Audyssey] Judgement Day

2006-12-16 Thread Sky Taylor
Hey Liam. I've just downloaded this game on my laptop and desktop.
Anyways, I have a problem when starting the demo. It tells me that I must
buy it useing your voice, and I will deffenetly buy it when I can afford it,
then I get a error that says. Project 1. file path access error or something
like that. Any ideas on how to fix it? I will be upgrading to a xp laptop so
i'll try again when I get the xp laptop. My laptop uses windows 98 with 190
mb of ram.

The most frustrating thing is having a problem like this and having no
 ideas
why it doesn't work. It makes me sad cause I hate having a situation
 where
someone can't playt he game they paid for.

I'm looking forward to playing this game ... hopefully Liam can get it
working for me before I have to leave on Sunday going home for Christmas
 for
a couple of weeks. I haven't gone through all of my messages yet so maybe
he's sent me something giving me some ideas. It's frustrating having a
registered version and not being able to play it! But I know he's working
as fast as he can so I'm not complaining. Smile. Have fun gaming
everybody! Maybe I'll be able to contribute soon.

Although, I do like the fact SOD has the cheat code unlock feature. You
must reach at least 2 points before obtaining the codes.
I'm on the fence when it comes to adding cheats for my own games. They
are easy enough to add, but I'd like to have some sort of unlock
feature if I did where they would have to beat the game once to get
them, or everytime he/she beat the game they got one cheat code.

Hey!
To those who've beaten jd on hard, you have my respect! They come in so fast

makes me angry!

Spirit. In every language in all the Realms, surface and Underdark, in every

This I must believe.
