[Audyssey] wrecking ball
Many of you have played Wrecking Ball. Now that I have graduated massage school I have more time to write games and am again in development. What would you like to see improved in this game? Please play it before you respond, the link is at http://modgirl.tbrn.net as Kara is graciously hosting it for me for the time being. The game, as it stands, will include Ten levels, and you have to hit each block the same number of times as is the level to break it--so if you're on level five you have to hit the ball five times to break it. With each level, the block size will decrease, making them harder to hit. Bonuses: there is already a bonus that makes the blocks grow, but this area will be expanded a bit. The speed bonus area may be shrunk somewhat as it's not too hard to hit. Another bonus will be that the ball stops, and you get a gun with six shots, and moving horizontally you can position your gun to blow up all the blocks in a straight line in any direction, the gun being at the bottom of the screen. The sounds will be turned down slightly so SAPI speech can be heard more clearly. The walls will move in toward each other in the higher levels, so you'll have to be quick to smash those blocks. I don't have a release date for the game yet, but I'd like to see it done before Christmas of this year--no promises though. The more features I put into this game, the longer the code will take to write, and I still have to implement a registration system. The price of this game will be 20 bucks. Anyway, feedback is highly appreciated.Ken Downey President DreamTechInteractive! And, Coming soon, Blind Comfort! Re: [Audyssey] technoshock story two
when you flip the switch, tak a step back and then go left until you are in front of the door. judge it correctly and you can enter the room, kill the bot and the key is behind one of the acid pools.then come out the room again, and head to the door by the switch, enter that and find what you have to in there, come out there and head north to the room that doesn't need a key. to jump the pit, make sure that it is 0 meters away from you then you won't fall in to them so much. hth - Original Message - From: Janet [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Tuesday, January 30, 2007 8:05 PM Subject: [Audyssey] technoshock story two Hey! ok. another thing, while you are smashing up the house he (or it???) tries to destract you. with, say, pots and pans, he throws them at you. no matter if it hits you or not, it will land on the floor. and, you guessed it... you can pick them up. and then you can use the things he throws at you as weapons! in the living room is a fireplace, so he will try to use it as an advantage, burning objects and throwing them. your best bet is to avoid them, otherwize he will go for them again and throw them again, and the flames are hot, and they basicly stun you for different amounts of time depending on the difficulty level. i'm not too sure what else to say, if anyone has any questions don't hesitate to ask and i will try and answer them. lol, if you want you could even try your hand at this game. oh and one more thing. i recommend making this a freebie. ___ Gamers mailing list .. [Audyssey] jim's golf game
Hi all I'm now really starting to enjoy Jim's golf game. A couple of tips I need from you please. How can I avoid the ball falling into a pond? Say for instance I'm 18 feet away from the pin and I hit space too soon my ball goes into a trap. I don't understand the part where sappi says: for instance 10 yards off in a fareway. Its not possible to hit THE BALL 10 YARDS. THE LEAST AMOUNT OF YARDS YOU CAN HIT THE BALL WITH USING PITCH AND WEDGE IS 16 YARDS, THEN YOU HAVE TO HIT SPACE IMMEDIATELY WHEN YOU HEAR THE TONE. What does that mean, ITS 10 YARDS OFF IN A FAREWAY? So how can I avoid the ball falling into a pond? You would all agree with me to enjoy the game the most you have to know what each bit of scenery is. There's a couple of descriptions I don't know the meaning of. I went into the function to create your own golf course and I wrote each description down as sapi read it to me. I loaded jaws and notepad and each description I would like the meaning of, I wrote it in notepad the way I think its pronounced. hay guys if a part of the message is in full caps, its not my intention to shout. I have a problem with this caps lock key and I'm now too lazy to convert everything to lower case again. Just so you know. . Would you be so kind to tell me what each one means please? Its words I have never heard before. Is deep ruff a kind of rock? Is outer bounds a type of drop off? What is a creek? Is a firehouse the place where fire brigades works? Is a greenhouse simply a house who's color is green? Is a haunted house a broken house? Is a horse corel the same as a horse stable? Is a barn also like a stable? Is a mantion a kind of house? I think motel is like an inn, because I have read of a motel in Afrikaans stories, how people stay over as guests in a motel. What do you buy at a pro shop? What is a swamp? Is a tavern like a chapel? Is a battling spring like a waterfall? Why is it called battling spring? Is it the way the water runs on the pebbles? What is a bunker? The rest of the scenery descriptions I have heard before. Its just these I mentioned which I never heard before. thanks ___ Gamers mailing list .. Re: [Audyssey] wrecking ball
It's great Ken. I'd like to see you add levels to it. Also a hot key for our scores would be appreciated. I really enjoy this title. *** REPLY SEPARATOR *** On 1/31/2007 at 4:07 AM Ken the Crazy wrote: Many of you have played Wrecking Ball. [Audyssey] need help in deciding if sarah is the game for me
HI all First of all I want to place a topic for discussion on the table. What are the similarities between Sarah and sod? I would say the similarity is: the layout of the castle is more or less the layout of the maze in sod. But other than that I would say Sarah and sod differs completely. While in sod you kill creatures, in Sarah you only stun them. Phil was planning in the beginning to make Sarah also a first shooter game. Phil correct me if I understood you incorrectly. Phil, I can remember right in the beginning, shortly before you posted the 2005 beta on your website that you said more or less the following: Sarah is also a 3d first person shooter like sod but instead of shooting with weapons you shoot with spells. If I understood the statement, Phil was trying to say that you would press the number1 for example on your number row. But instead of selecting a weapon you select a spell. Then you go into a room. You encounter creatures. You switch on your radar and you start shooting at them as you would shoot in sod. But instead of a gun's sound you would hear the sound of a casting spell and each time you shoot a creature with a spell, you would hear the moaning sounds of the creature and eventually his deaf cry. So it would go like this: Press number 1, stupefy. Walk in maze. Open door. Press s to switch on radar. Hit space. When you press space you would hear: Stupefy Creature moaning Stupefy! Creature moaning Stupefy. Creature's death cry. Instead of Bang Creature moaning. Bang Creature moaning. Bang Death cry. That was how I understood Phil's post when he introduced Sarah in November 2005. But when I read the manual I got totally another picture. That Sarah is completely another style of game than sod. In Sarah you don't shoot using spells. You can't shoot using spells. Spell casting is something on its own. So now I'm coming at the point I need help with. I got used to the sound in monopoly, the music as my token is moving. It doesn't frighten me anymore. But I am not sure if I should buy Sarah. I read the manual twice already. It would be nice picking up magical items and coins and running from creatures and stun them with different spells and objects. But I've got this thing about screaming. My mom used to scream at me a lot when I was a child. So as the screaming books are not in the demo, how can I make sure that the screaming won't upset me? I sent Phil 2 .wav sound files of a woman screaming. He says that the screaming books are like one of those files. I don't think the sound of the creatures will frighten me. Phil isn't it possible to make a little trailer of the screaming books? That's actually the only thing that bothers me. Are the screaming books like Angela screaming in the first alpha of Monte? Well Angela's screaming I can definitely handle,. But how is this screaming books going to work? Suppose I buy the game and the screaming upsets me a lot? Is it like a woman screaming the words of the book? Is it the same type of screaming as when a mom scream at her child. DON'T, DO, THAT! Phil, if you could just give us a trailer of the screaming book, just a little sample. So that I could just get an idea of how the screaming books is going to sound like? But further than that I don't think the creatures will frighten me. That flying motorcycle! I suppose Phil wants to keep that for a surprise. Guys, I'm totally all right with the thing about the Harry potter movies. You guys have helped me to realize that I shouldn't go on hear say about Harry potter and supernatural games. At this stage the only thing that bothers me about Sarah is the screaming books. How can I rephrase myself better? Is it like a woman saying words at the top of her voice? Screaming? Or is the screaming books a woman that screams a bit without saying any real words, and then speaks, then screams? I think Sarah is an excellent game but I should make double sure before I buy it, so that I won't buy something that will frighten me. Something else: this question came in my mind when I listened to the deck of cards. Is Sarah a game where you have to listen to a lot of narration? By reading the manual I know that Sarah is also a game where you walk in a maze. I'm not intending to ask spoilers before I even bought the game. What I just need to know: is it a game where long pieces are narrated before I can take action? For example in the library. Do I have to listen for an hour to a book narrating before I can do something based on that book? Or is it a game where the books are just bits of information, which will aid me. I enjoy reading stories. I enjoy reading e-books with jaws. But reading stories and playing games is 2 different things to me. I don't want to play a game where I have to listen to a long piece of narrative before I can continue in the game. ___ Gamers mailing list .. [Audyssey] Audio Game Maker Delayed Until Further Notice
I'm really really sorry to have to post this, guys: *** Audio Game Maker Delayed Until Further Notice In the night of the 25th of January a huge fire destroyed all of the offices of the Accessibility Foundation. Fortunately Accessibility was able to move into a new office in the city of Utrecht on Monday the 29th, where we are gradually building up our service and reachability to the usual level. Our new contact information is available on our websites. A beta-version of Audio Game Maker was supposed to be released on Thursday the 1st of February 2007. Unfortunately this release date will be postponed. Although the Accessibility Foundation is operational to a certain degree, we are still in the process of gathering the necessary equipment and software that is needed to continue the work on the Audio Game Maker. We will continue development on Audio Game Maker as soon as possible but have decided to delay the release until further notice. Future information about the release will be posted on http://www.audiogamemaker.com and http://www.game-accessibility.com. Raul I didn't said it is definitely the same. I said I think it's the same. Nobody told me it's the same. Its just a topic I raised. I formed a picture in my head when I was reading the manual. The maze of the castle sounded to me like the maze in sod. I only know from what I have read in the manual. Phil released the manual on the website. I'm legally playing sod because my dad bought it for my birthday. Phil said on this list that the library books and the deck of cards is only for registered users. I don't know a single bit more of sarah than what the rest of you know. I only know about sarah from what I read on this list and what I read in the manual. Phil definitely won't give me information or game levels the rest of you don't have. Phil doesn't know me at all. We are in 2 different countries. Re: [Audyssey] need help in deciding if sarah is the game for me
Hi nicol, There are things about the Sarah game that are the same as Shades of Doom since they use the same GMA game engine. f1 brings up an audio help feature which allows you to hit enter on a hot key description to do what it says. I also used the same hot key setup for f2, your current game level, f3, for saving games, f4 for playing a saved game, and f6 for sound review. Also Sarah uses the same function to tell you what is ahead of you and the automatic descriptor function to automatically do it. I also use the Shades of Doom system for reading the manual with your screen reader in that it brings up a list of topics and you use the right arrow to go into one to read it with your screen reader. But Pacman and GMA Tank Commander do all of these things too. It helps to use the same keys for certain things between games so people do not have to remember many new keys. I do make some key changes from Shades of Doom like putting the navigation keys on x for examine as is done in some text games. As for the layout of the castle versus Shades of Doom, any similarities are coincidental, and Sarah on the demo level is more similar to Pacman Talks than Shades of Doom. But in the other levels I have changed the wall layout to conform to what rooms are actually in the Hogwarts castle. There are floors of the game which are one large room like those of the three towers, and then there is the last one which takes you outside the castle to the Quiddich pitch. I will be doing a audio review of some of the more interesting places to visit that are not on the demo levels, plus someone will probably do a review where you can hear more about what you will find in the full game. As for news, David is back from his trip to America and he is working on fixing the bugs in the Sarah game as I write this. Re: [Audyssey] jim's golf game
When you hear that you are 10 yards from the hole then you have room on the green so if you used your pitching wedge and hit it as soon as you could you would at least end up on the green where you could putt the ball. Deep ruff is thick bushes and trees. A creek is a small channel of running water. Think about a very small river. Is a firehouse the place where fire brigades works? Yes. A greenhouse is a sort of building covered either in glass or clear plastic where plants are grown. A haunted house is a house that is full of ghosts and other weird stuff. Is a horse corel the same as a horse stable? It is the area outside the stable where the horses run. Is a barn also like a stable? Yes. Is a mantion a kind of house? Yes, a very big, expensive house. At a pro shop you buy all kinds of golf items. A swamp is a plot of land that is fulll of water, much and mire and who knows what kind of critters. A tavern is a bar. Is a battling spring like a waterfall? Why is it called battling spring? Is it the way the water runs on the pebbles? You got it. It is gentler than a waterfall since it flows slowly at less of an angle than a waterfall. A bunker is a deep hole placed by the course designer as a trap for the ball. I wish. The other day, I tried to purchase Sod 1.2 from GMA games, and tried to use the Paypal shopping cart. After I added the cheat codes and the game itself to the cart, and logged into my account, I was told that the purchase was above my sending limit. Boy, did it evermore make me angry! So far, I got a radio, a bag of hot tamale candies, and later, I'll get a new ink cartridge for my printer. Plus, there's a pan of brownies on the stove, waiting for me, and we're getting pizza tonight. Hi everyone. The birthday thread is getting to be a bit much off topic. Let's get back to gaming discussions. Remember, if you want to wish someone happy birthday, just email that person privately. Re: [Audyssey] Moderator's message regarding birthday thread
grin well its a mixed bag. on the gaming front surreal horisons is stating at least on their lists that torrent their space fighter game is going to be out like soon next week that is for testing. usagames is testing monti which will have a demo by march. Sarah is going to be out soon. Audiogame maker is aiming for march but is not going for now. Vista is out with a new service pack for later this year as is the next pack of xp also to be released this year. On the personal front, a good friend died last week, my computer fan has some issues and one of my power cords had a to low voltage set on it, so a mixed bag.
