[Audyssey] Hello and help with a mud?
Hello everyone. I am not sure who is still around, that I knew years ago when I was subscribed to this list, but I hope there are still a few here, that I know and perhaps some new people I can make friends with. I have encountered a quite big problem with a Mud I want to play and wonder if there is anyone here who could perhaps look at it for me and tell me if I am just not configuring something correctly, or if the Mud is just impossible for me to play, as a blind person? Firstly, let me give you the address and port of the mud. lordsoftherealm.org Port 1234 I am using Windows XP, Gmud as my Mud Client and use Gmud every day to play another Mud with no problems at all. The problem I am having with the above Mud is that, although I turn colour off, blank on and prompt off I still get what seems like the time and moves interspersed throughout the text. This makes it impossible for me to be able to play the game properly, as the numbers throughout the text make it hard to understand what is being said and the time it takes to have one sentence read out, takes so long. I keep thinking I am just forgetting a setting, but because this letter is taking *much* longer than I thought to write, I better finish it and see if any of you can help me with my problem. I must admit, it is a great shame the Mud list doesn't exist any more. Okay, thank you all and hope I haven't hurt too many ears by my long letter. *lol* Take care all. Kirstan Mooney. That IP should be right. The only thing I can think of is that you're behind a router or modem or so that has a built-in firewall. The solution is forwarding Top Speed's port to your local IP. This kind of things can be done in the admin interface, usually under Port Forwarding,, Applications Gaming or NAT. - Original Message - From: christopher huby [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 'Gamers Discussion list' gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Thursday, April 26, 2007 5:59 PM Subject: [Audyssey] re problem with hosting a game of top speed 2. [Audyssey] Bad hats
Hi Folks, Looks like I got a bad batch of hats put in the Sarah game. When I bought them at Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes joke shop, George said they would all work, but when I took them home and put them into the game some of them were defective. Maybe it was a joke on me! I looked at the hat's properties and there were mostly set to do not take when I had set them to take me please. grumble, So Now I'm examining all the floors and checking on all the hats and fixing them with a little glue and duck tape. They should be fixed by tonight and will be put into Sarah-Patch4.exe by late tonight or tomorrow at the latest. Don't blame me, blame Fred and George and their April fool joke on me. Re: [Audyssey] Excellent NewArticleAboutGameAccessibilityonGamasutra
It's unfortunate that we couldn't start these programmers off earlier with making games accessible. All that might be needed is a course or two during their college years. Another source of knowledge for this might be the devs who are already making these games for the various communities. I think awareness/education is a critical step in the possibility of mainstream playable games. Ron - Original Message - From: Bryan Peterson [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Wednesday, April 25, 2007 8:42 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Excellent NewArticleAboutGameAccessibilityonGamasutra The problem is that, even joined together as a unified community the blind gaming community in particular is probably not likely to be able to come up with the kind of money that most developers would ask for. The only sure way to persuade them is to educate them, and there is a certain amount of emotional apeal involved in that. I agree. Let's let the developer find out how we feels when he's just recovered from a life-altering injury and suddenly finds he can't see. Emotional appeals just won't work. For developers, for companies, it's all about the money, about the glitz, the gloss, the numbers. They won't write games for niche markets, and since the needs of the disabled community are scattered, with different accommodations required for blind, deaf, and paraplegic users, they won't be able to round us up into a significant enough market to make their corporate sponsors care. Developing to targeted audiences also does take time, not just in coding, but in testing as well. We have to make that worthwhile, and an emotional appeal won't do that. To suggest that it will come easily trivializes the programming effort involved. Besides, developers reading that article might fleetingly be affected by the prose, but they'll forget it tomorrow. Most of us, whoever we are, don't think about what could happen tomorrow. We don't dwell on the possibilities that were outlined. We keep going until it happens, and then we try to cope. That's just the human way. Just my two cents. [Audyssey] Playball.ws new Jukeboxes
Hi Sport gamers Droping a note about playball.ws new Jukeboxes. I have revamped the Strat Juke Box. The download of the computer baseball game is now off the jukebox and is an independent download link. I have visitors having problems having things to download inside the jukebox. The Jukebox its self will soon include new instructions for Basketball. I have done work on the Strat computer Basketball game Jaws configurations to my the game playable on the court. Other things still need to be worked on but at this time the game is accessible and playable. The configs for the Basketball game is now avaible on the Strat instructional Jukebox, but no audio help yet as I mentioned. Besides the Startup kit with the demo baseball game download I have also included the Jaws configs for the new interace of the full version and the old interface of the cmputer game. There will be no more updates to the startup kit or the old interface configs. The configs for the new interace full version of the computer game is a work in progress as the basketball game. And it will be on this email list, where I will let you know of any other updates to the jukebox page.
