Re: [Audyssey] Surround Sound HeadPhones and soundcard issues was a thought about MOTA

2009-03-13 Thread Yohandy

Thomas,
Thanks for answering these questions. I have one more. Have you
tried using line-in with Vista? You said you tried stereo mix, but did you
try the microphone simultaneously? Basically if I want to record audio from
my TV, I need line-in to work on this laptop, which it currently isn't, and
I need microphone as well so I could describe what I'm doing in the review
etc.

thought about MOTA

Hi Yohandy,

Yohandy Asked:
first, is there a fix
for this issue I'm having? is it my soundcard acting up, or is it Vista
itself?

Tom Says:
Well, you aren't the first person who has had issues with that specific
brand and model of sound card. I've basically heard those sound cards are
trouble no matter if you are using XP, Vista, or Windows 7. i don't have
one myself, but the word is those sound cards have technical issues. My
best educated guess is it is your sound card not Vista.

Yohandy Said:
I've heard many rumors that vista doesn't support line-in and that it
also lacks
the ability to record both microphone output and stereo mix, so I'd like
confirmation

from people using other cards with vista.

Tom Says:
Well, it does and it doesn't. It really depends on what sound card you
have, if the Vista drivers supports those features, and if you enable
those mixer settings in the control panel. I can say first hand it is a
serious pain to get working under Vista, because it isn't as easy to get
setup as it was under XP. I'm unhappy to say it is just as bad with
Windows 7 Beta.
However, I can confirm the stereo mix still works under Vista with the
right sound card. it does work if your sound card supports it, and if you
get Vista setup correctly. As i said before it isn't as easy to get
correctly setup as XP.

Yohandy Asked:
and second, do you guys know if this card
supports surround sound? Thomas, I know you said the headphones have 3
jacks you
can plug into the card. only problem here is I only have a headphone
jack, and another
jack to the left which I presume is for the microphone. I'm using an
internal mic.

Tom Says:
Well, since i don't know the specific model, serial number, etc of your
card I can't look it up and give you an absolute answer. However, what I
can tell you is that it does not have the correct outputs to do anything
remotely like surround sound using headphones or a set of 5.1 surround
sound speakers. So I'm guessing no.
The desktop I am sitting at now has a creative Labs Soundblaster Audegy 2
card installed. It has a mic jack, a line-in jack, and then three output
jacks. They are labeled front, center, and rear. If I am using a set of
5.1 surround sound speakers or headphones I plug the three headphone
inputs into these three jacks on the sound card. I doubt plugging only
one input into a headphone jack would reproduce a full 5.1 surround sound
effect.

Yohandy Said:
btw. If Vista's the culprit, then I'll most likely uninstall it since all
these

audio problems are really getting on my nerves.

Tom Says:
Well, all i can say is I have been running Vista successfully since March
2007 and I really haven't had much problems with the OS myself audio or
otherwise. I've recorded the Mysteries of the Ancients game trailers using
a Windos Vista system so I know for certain I can record using stereo mix
obviously. However, I can say I've got stereo mix working on my desktop,
the computer with the Audegy card, but it won't work on my laptop which
has a Realtek AC-97 card in it. So it is the sound card not Vista being
the problem there.

2009-03-13 Thread Constantine

Hi,

I downloaded it at school. I'm not sure it was legal, but oh well. I
downloaded around 500 - 700 kbps. It dropped to 200 once but really, it
wasn't your server, that's for sure.
The problem lies, I think, with the network upgrade we got. I have a high
speed modem from 2001 - that's the problem - hopefully we'll get it
upgraded.

To go down from the first level to the second and so on, you need to find
the stairs that go down. Once you find the stairs, you can press the
period

is

down the same way, only you use the cama key. If you feel like exploring
some more after finding a stairs, you can do that to. When you want to go
down to the next level but you are not near the stairs, you can press the
period key on your keyboard and it will give you directions on getting

to that down staircase, and likewise with the stairs up using the cama
key.
If you are having trouble trying to explore every inch of the dungeon,
the
slash key on your keyboard will give you directions to the next

space. It will give you directions similar to the down/up stairs key.
You know you are done with exploring the level when you press the slash

there are no monsters to fight, but it does let you know that there is no
spaceleft unexplored.

Hope that helped you out,

[Audyssey] mota stuff

2009-03-13 Thread Valiant8086
Hi.
I noticed in the score menu you still have to press enter to hear the score.
There was probably a problem impliminting that after all. no big deal just my
observation.

It seems that when I get killed I lose items I have picked up and they are
returned to the ground. I'm not sure if this is new or if I did something
stupid this time around or what.

I do like the new screaming fall sound for the pits.

I like the new stair footsteps.

The footstepps problem where you sounded like you were on a ledge or what ever
is fixed for me too now.

When you press enter on an item in the score menu you can't just arrow on until
it's good and done talking. I'm thinking maybe that tmenu just hasn't been
switched to use the other thread or what ever. It behaves exactly as it used to.

Have you thought of useing ctrl instead of escape to stop the intro? Should
their be the same keystroke work to stop the thank you demo message?

Ok, that's all my thoughts for now. i'm likeing the new beta. It's not killing
me after I kill it and all that stuff any more.

Cheers!
Aaron

Hi Haryi,
Yeah, I understand about the translation problem. Unfortunately for
everyone involved what you are trying to say is not getting translated to
English very well. In some cases such as when you said,

"when you walk through the
door as buzz,"
it is totally unreadable. I can't understand the point you are trying to
get accross because it is not proper English.
As a result what parts of your messages I can understand may be
misunderstood or not taken the way you meant, because I have to guess at
your meaning. Such as when you said,
"that the sounds in the game sometimes not being played at the same time
when you

jump over the rock where it belongs as the wind howl,"
is a bit confusing. First of all, there are not any rocks to jump over.
There are ledges to jump off, chasms to jump over, but certainly no rocks.
If you don't use the right words for things your message is obscure and
confusing to me.
Anyway, what sounds are not playing when you jump. This is one tthing that
escapes me. I get the fact you are saying some sound isn't playing, but
what sound or sounds?

Thanks.

Re: [Audyssey] Entombed

2009-03-13 Thread Allan Thompson

Hi Jimmy,
I am not sure if you meant to say to go down from the first level, or how to
explore the first level, so I'll mention both.
To go down from the first level to the second and so on, you need to find
the stairs that go down. Once you find the stairs, you can press the period
key and it will allow you to go down to the next level. Going up a stair is
down the same way, only you use the cama key. If you feel like exploring
some more after finding a stairs, you can do that to. When you want to go
down to the next level but you are not near the stairs, you can press the
period key on your keyboard and it will give you directions on getting back
to that down staircase, and likewise with the stairs up using the cama key.
If you are having trouble trying to explore every inch of the dungeon, the
slash key on your keyboard will give you directions to the next unexplored
space. It will give you directions similar to the down/up stairs key.
You know you are done with exploring the level when you press the slash
key, and you no longer get directions. It doesn't necessarily mean that
there are no monsters to fight, but it does let you know that there is no
spaceleft unexplored.

Hope that helped you out,

Hi,
No, that isn't the problem. If it was only that simple I would have
fixed it before the release. The problem is the pspeech thread doesn't
always work correctly and load some speech files. It knows where the
file is, can load it 9 out of 10 times, but sometimes it fails to load
it. I haven't a clue why it does this, but there is a bug in the speech
load function and not a misspelled file name, missing file, or anything
remotely like that.

Re: [Audyssey] Mota Beta 3

2009-03-13 Thread Jimmy Odin Kristoffersen
Think he mean, when he try to go fru a door, the steps begin to go slow if
he is running, so, if he is running fru a door, the steps go down to walk
for a short time before go back to run again.

I don't understand his next problem.
Hope this makes more sense.

Hi Haryi,
Sorry, say again. You are not making a bit of sense to me. Can you
explain your issues better? Can you give specifics and pay more
attention

to details?

Hayri Said:
When you jump over the stone so that the game may
not play sounds at the same time.

Tom Asks:
What stones? Do you mean jumping the chasms in room 7? Can you give me
more details where you are and what you are doing, and what is or is not
happening?

Hayri Said:
When you go through those stone doors that disappear
sounds too!

Tom Asks:
Are you trying to say the sound for the doors prematurely stop? I am
having serious trouble reading your message here and making heads or
tails out of it.

Hayri Said:
and the last error is that you can not go all the way up the stone steps
that once
you have gone 3 steps off it then go all the way down to again.

Tom Says:
Hmmm...I've never seen this problem before. The staircase code hasn't
changed since it was written so I can not concieve of any reason why it
would be broken now. I'll look for this bug, but it has never happened
once on my machine.

The new release is wonderful, even if I do keep falling in the fire pit.
But, I'll get the hang of it.

Great job, Thomas.

then obvious wen you are opening the door, you can't will move until

well, with the jump error that you are having, holster your weapon
before trying to jump and climb up, otherwise holding the weapon will
cause you to fall if you go all up and try to jump to the right.

Re: [Audyssey] Surround Sound HeadPhones and soundcard issues was a thought about MOTA

2009-03-13 Thread James Dietz
Check out the creative sb audigy (sp probably) zs notebook soundcard.
If your laptop has a pc card slot it will work just fine. It has a
cable with the 3 necessary jacks for surround sound goodness. I don't
think it's possible to get an sinternal oundcard replacement as it'd
be difficult to find a way to expose a headphone jack (also it'd
likely be very difficult to impossible to rewire the internal speaker
to use the new card). The audigy zx notebook is awesome. I don't know
if it's still in production but it was about $90 or so. My Realtak
AC97 could record stereo mix but couldn't record both stereo mix and
line-in/microphone at the same time under XP. I haven't gotten the
intel/realtek (?) hd audio line-in/internal mic working under linux.
Perhaps it is just a crappy soundcard.

2009-03-13 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Haryi,
Sorry, say again. You are not making a bit of sense to me. Can you
explain your issues better? Can you give specifics and pay more
attention to details?

Re: [Audyssey] MOTA Beta 3 Released

2009-03-13 Thread Jimmy Odin Kristoffersen

Hi Thomas.

My girlfriend, (who at least get the game work), gave me a idea, so why
don't you try put items in the water?

Mean, when you swim, you could find gold, or weapons you could pick up.
Just a idea.

Hi,
Sounds like it. That file is on a high speed server, and I know you
should get around 100 KB or better on a high speed connection. I'm not
sure why you are getting 18.5 KB a sec, but I'm hoping it is your
internet connection not my server.
Smile.

ah wow that sounds well cool

Hi Thomas,
It would be very very cool if you allowed Angela to throw things.
She has a gun without any bullets, in desperation you hold control
and space and the weapon flies through the air and clunks off the
creature.
But wait, she has a torch, and she throws that at the creature and
it dies!
The burning creature lights up the room but quickly goes out and
Angela is left in the dark with no torches left.
She feels along the ground with the enter key and finds her thrown
pistol and picks it up.
In short she should be able to throw anything in her inventory or in
her hands.
Of course the knife and sword thrown would also do the same damage
as they would if used in hand to hand combat.

[Audyssey] Mota Beta 3

2009-03-13 Thread Hayri Tulumcu
I found 4 errors in Mota. When you jump over the stone so that the game
may not play sounds at the same time. When you go through those stone doors
that disappear sounds too! When one goes through a door so there will be a
space between one's step and the last error is that you can not go all the way
up the stone steps that once you have gone 3 steps off it then go all the way
down to again.
