 Hi Michael,
For Rail Racer, it is best to ask folks on the rail racer list if they are
up for a race at a particular time, or let them know you will be there
waiting on folks at a certain time, also best to state your time in eastern
so everyone is on the same page.
We're gonna be doing a rail racer tournament in a couple weeks, and the
online racing will really heat up then.

[Audyssey] Need help with Last Week

2009-08-18 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Raul,
I urgently need some help with your new Adrift game Last Week. I'm
standing in Rachel's dressing room waiting to get fitted for the tuxedo
I need to rent. However, for some reason I can' get Rachel to fricking
measure me. I've tried dozens of commands like get measured get
measurements get fitted and so on and nothing works. Ok, I'm like
totally and truly stuck. Can you please tell me the exact command I need
to use?

Thanks.

[Audyssey] Mach 1 tts

2009-08-18 Thread Jim Kitchen

Hi Milos,

In Mach 1 tts there is only one car. That is your car. I have not put in,
other cars on the track. But, yes, the car engine sound is much much better in
Mach 1 tts than it was in Mach 1. I after experimenting with DirectX for years
found a much better way to play the car engine sound.

Hope you give it a try.

BFN

Hello Scott and Tom. You can type something like the following:

tell Rachel to measure me

or simply,

Rachel measure me

Remember there are no commas in Adrift commands.

Hello James. I did, and it is. Maybe you can't reach it from where you

That being said, if someone can't download the game from one of the
sites it's up on, drop me a *private* email and I'll email it to you.
Just knot that it's about 530 kb in size.

[Audyssey] learning c#

Hello

I've recently installed visual studio c# express 2008 and have been playing

Re: [Audyssey] game ideas

2009-08-18 Thread Jorge

Hello friends,
I´ve been playing audiogames for 6 years now and I also have some ideas
about them!
I always thought that blind gamers are willing to pay for some
entertainement but for this to happen I think the gamer, who is a client,
should be respected. And what it means to be respected is to be offered a
game with quality, challenge, with features that make you want to play for
years.
For example, I proudly purchased Railracer because for me it was the best
audiogame ever made and it totally was worth the money spent on it. This is
what I call supporting the developers: they present you a game with quality,
more or less in the deadlines that are supposed to be and that even includes
online gaming that keeps your interest in the game! It´s a matter of trust.
Let's face the reality, some of the free games from Jim Kitchen are better
than some other paid games: PCGolf was my first audiogame and I still play
the newest version a lot!
There are two games which are absolutely missing in the market and I am sure
that they would sell a lot if they are ever released!
A football game (soccer) because developers should remember that the world
is not only the United States of America and that in the rest of the world
this game is loved by millions of people, and I guess that a big majority of
non american players are waiting for this for years.
I belong to a list of hundrets of audiogamers with portuguese and spanish
language and almost everyone agrees that a game like that would be a
craziness for us!
Thinking that it would sell so much, I don't understand why no developer
ever thought about that!
The second is a racing game with a system of season with points like F1,
Nashcar or whatever. A game where you could edit the names of pilots and
then you could make sessions of practice, qualifications, warm up and real
races with features like weather conditions, adjustment of wings according
to the track, wearing of tires, fuel consumption, good race line, movements
of overtaking and blocking etc. I am pretty sure that it would sell a lot
and I am also surprised that no one ever did it!
Sometimes simple ideas can create very profitable activities, we just have
to think about them. It's always how I think in my professional life!

Cheers,
Jorge

Re: [Audyssey] game ideas

2009-08-18 Thread Matheus
hi jorge.
i agree, only these games with a lot of features and replaiability will
keep me interested for monts and these are the only games that i'm
willing to buy. one example of that is entombed, you see, you will never
get bored onse the final product comes out, since each new game,
everything new, lots of possibilities, etc. mysteries of the ancients
will be a fun game, bekause there are some random factors that will make
i want to play the game from time to time bekause the different
monsters locations and itens. unfortunately, and i know that the side
scrollers works like this, but having no different places to explore wen
starting a game will reduce the replaiability for a bit.
and i agree with jorge about the soccer game. i'm also in this list that
he's talking about, and a lot of brazilians, and i believe peoples from
other countries are also waiting for a game like this.
not something like super football from vipgameszone, no! certain not!
the restrictions that you have wen playing the game are simple
unbelievable, making it boring to play the game.
i don't know exactly how to explain, but if you play a game like fifa
2008, you will see what i mean.
and i'd love to see a basketball game.
the racing game that you talk about, thomas is going to work on a game
similar to this wen mysteries of the ancients is finished.

[Audyssey] energy in alien outback

2009-08-18 Thread Nicol
HI all
I have made sure that I have the latest version of alien outback.
The latest version according to the draconis website is 2.2.4 and when I
press v inside the main menu the game tells me I have version 2.5
Anyway, on to my query.
Is the following a bug or is this a part of the game?
When my energy reaches 150, If I pick up more energy from the flying
saucers, my energy stays at 150.
This is really really bad!
This is why I keep dying everytime I play.
I cannot get past level7.
I die each time at the beginning of level7.
And that is because my energy runs out too quickly due to damage from
lazars.
If I could have consumed the energy I picked up, making it more than 150
then dchances would be better that I make it to the mother ship.
In other words, I am busy shooting down ships.
I check my energy with the end key on the six pack of keys, the game voice
says 150.
I hear a saucer in the sky. I move to it and shoot it.
The payload drops on the ground.
I quickly move to the beacon to pick up the item.
The game voice says: energy.
And it makes the sound letting me know I have obtained energy.
But if I press the end key the game voice says 150.
This is really nasty, whether it's a bug or a feature.

I've been trying to learn C++ myself.
My problem is that all the books confuse me, like with Dixan.
This is a great question.
Unfortunetly, I don't know the answer, but it would be great if
someone could point those interested to a blind programming website,
since blindprogramming has gone down.
Does anyone know of any good resources for learning C++ as a blind person?

[Audyssey] Last Week help needed

2009-08-18 Thread Orin
Hi all,

So far, I got into the dressing room. She tried measuring me, I did what I had
to do and she measured me in her special way, but. What after that? She said
something about coming back another time but also said something about being
measured more accurately or something. The come back another time suggested
to me that the scene had been over, so I tried something else, the only result
being a nice scene but nothing really happened as to get my tux.

I have the keywords and ready enabled. How do the keywords work, though, are
they like Blue Lacuna? I did have the keywords off though when Rachel happened
to have said that bit of dialog.

Thanks.

2009-08-18 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi, when keywords are enabled, they are bold and underlined. So if you
are using a screen reader, you will have to tell it to announce these
changes. With Window-Eyes you can do this by toggling attribute changes
to on. You can also have those changes show up in Braille. I don't know
how to do this with other screen readers. However, more importantly, the
answer to Rachel is below.

s
p
o
i
l
e
r

s
p
a
c
e

If you already got the tuxedo receipt from Rachel, you are done as far
as getting what you need toward winning the game is concerned. The bit
about coming back for other measurements is just a tease and opening for
other possible branches off this game. So all you need is that receipt
and you are done with that part. There is something else you can get
from Rachel, but it's not necessary to win the game. It's done for
someone else in solving another puzzle.

Hope this helps.

[Audyssey] GMA game engine

2009-08-18 Thread Josh
Hi,

You know it would be nice if GMA games would release a free version of their
engine. I know audio game maker was a flop. But if game creation could be made
easier maybe there would be more games. yes with an engine you are limited to
the kinds of gamesyou can create; but with creativity you can make lots. As of
now there are no free game engines out there.

Re: [Audyssey] GMA game engine

2009-08-18 Thread Scott Chesworth
Hi Josh,

wholeheartedly agreed. One of the things that's making it nearly
impossible for me to motivate myself to buckle down and learn to
develop to the standard required is that there isn't a free engine
that's easy to work with. Most of my game ideas consist of big
landscapes and levels that would be a nightmare without a good engine.

I get the feeling from my previous communications that the idea would
go down about as well as a cup of acid at GMA's end, but you could see
what David thinks, there's a contact form on his site I think.

I check my energy with the end key on the six pack of keys, the game voice

I hear a saucer in the sky. I move to it and shoot it.

Another cool site that I use, well, it isn't really a site but an online
class, is at

http://www.johnSmiley.com

His e-book is a great way to learn c++ for a beginner. The book is around
13 dollars, and you don't need to sign up for the class to read it and
purchase it.

His class costs about 250 dollars, but you get 3 CEUs when you finish, and
it does keep one on their toes. grin. I am about a third of the way through
it, and yes it is accessible.

2009-08-18 Thread Charles Rivard
The maximum amount of energy allowed is 150 percent. It think this is
stated in the user's guide. So, if you obtain a packet of energy as a bonus
from the saucers, and you're already at the maximum allowed, sorry, but
that's all you can get. It adds challenge to the game.

The maximum amount of energy allowed is 150 percent. It think this is
stated in the user's guide. So, if you obtain a packet of energy as a
bonus from the saucers, and you're already at the maximum allowed, sorry,
but that's all you can get. It adds challenge to the game.

HI all
I have made sure that I have the latest version of alien outback.
I check my energy with the end key on the six pack of keys, the game
voice

Hi,

You know it would be nice if GMA games would release a free version of
their engine. I know audio game maker was a flop. But if game creation
could be made easier maybe there would be more games. yes with an engine
you are limited to the kinds of gamesyou can create; but with creativity
you can make lots. As of now there are no free game engines out there.

Jim, I also wanted to thank you for all the great games you designed. I also
have a couple of suggestions for a couple of the games I've played for what
it's worth. LOL
IN pupp 1 it would be great if you could have a targeting sound like a
broken beep when coming in range and a solid beep when targeted.
In the battle ship game it would be very nice to be able to play against
other people besides the computer.
Thanks for listening and keep up the great work.

Hi Johnny and Girlfriend Liz,

Cool! I'm glad that you two are having such fun with Puppy 1. Thanks for
saying so.

On the other note, here are some suggestions we puzzled together while
playing:
1. It'd be nice if one keep receiving a new plane after 5 kills even after
the 15- gives one something to look forward to beside than eventually
losing.

I guess that I could have more new planes awarded, but how many? I would
not want it to be too many or an indefinite amount.

2. Be kind of nice if there's an optional aiming device one can use- for
those of us with hearing issues... Both of us can only hear out of one ear,
and that makes this type of game extremely challenging to say the least at
times. That being said, I did get a 38 kill count on the expert level...so
meh...

I'm sorry, but several of my live action audio games such as Baseball, Homer
on a Harley, Mach 1, Mach 1 tts, Pong and Puppy 1 pretty much require stereo
listening. I am not sure how I could create any of these games without the
use of panning the sounds. Puppy 1 does though have the right control key
and wind sound to tell you where the enemy is directionally from you.

3. Maybe a way to turn quickly? It is very frustrating when you are turning
left like maaad and end up not reaching the 0 in time no matter what rofl.

Your turn rate is always the same. The thing is, the enemy planes are
scattered about the sky and they can be turning the same direction as you
trying to avoid you. Just like in a real aerial dog fight.

4. Maybe a way to reverse course and move away from your enemies to line up
for a better shot? With six planes coming at me on the expert level, that'd
be very handy!

I'm sorry, but I just don't understand what you mean here. You can't just
pluck your plane out of the sky and place it somewhere else.

5. I notice sometimes I have to shoot a plane like 15 times before it drops,

and at times, I get the kill on one shot...maybe a key that'd do a damage
report on the enemies?

I'm sorry, but if you hit the enemy even once it drops. That's all it takes
is one hit. Perhaps you are hitting an enemy plane that is behind the
closest one. But also when there is more than one enemy in the sky, only
the last one sounds as if it is falling out of the sky and exploding. The
rest just explode in the sky.

6. Suicide run...like the Japanese did...if I can't get them, maybe I can
take one down with me?

I forgot to do that I guess. Think that I meant for both planes to go down
if you fly right into one. Guess as it is, you just fly right through it.

7. The ability to roll your plane...when the enemies come in for the kill,
when you hear that mumbling voice that tells you you're about to die, maybe
one can roll the plane to try to avoid the hit?

I'm sorry, but that is the whole gist of the game. You must shoot the enemy
before you fly passed it.

BTW What he says is a Klingon war cry. It's a good day to die It's just
played backward. And then just as he fires on you he says Die Again
backward.

That's about it...Again, a nice little game that has provided us with hours
of fun rofl, and now I got to beat my own 38 expert kill record.

Thanks again and BFN

Re: [Audyssey] learning c#

2009-08-18 Thread Jeremy Hartley

Hi Scott and all,

You asked if c++ is my first language. The answer is both yes and no. grin
For the last several years, I have spent some time trying to learn visual
basic.net c sharp and c++. Each time, I would get sidetracked with work and
personal life. So, no, c++ is not my very first language. However, this is
the first time I am sticking to a language and seeing it all the way
through.

My experience has been that each author of a programming book has a
different way of describing a topic. It is like taking a class in school.
Some teachers I had I just didn't click with and try as I might, I just
couldn't understand the subject matter. When I would either retake a class
or take a similar course from another teacher, then the subject matter would
click. I have found that if you read something and it just doesn't click
the first time, keep it filed away in your mind and let your subconcious
work with it a bit. Then, find more materials that may talk about the
subject until you find the balance between subject matter and description.
It doesn't happen overnight, and believe me, you will be spending a lot of
time reading and rereading something from different sources. You may even
feel that you are making no headway, but I can say with certainty that there
will be a time when the light will flash in your mind and you will say, wow!
I get it now!

I guesss, my whole point in this ramblefest is to not stick to one way of
learning. Spend time learning in all kinds of ways from all kinds of
sources if you can.

Another cool site that I use, well, it isn't really a site but an online
class, is at

His e-book is a great way to learn c++ for a beginner. The book is
around

13 dollars, and you don't need to sign up for the class to read it and
purchase it.

His class costs about 250 dollars, but you get 3 CEUs when you finish,
and

it does keep one on their toes. grin. I am about a third of the way

Hello there.

Well, there are several, and I mean several, places to learn c++ as a
blind person.

One of your best resources is a site called safari.oreilly.com.
However,

you will have to pay for a subscription.

There is another site, filled with all kinds of tips for blind folks
wanting to get into learning any kind of programming language, as well
as

containing all kinds of documents and tutorials.
 It is at

Good luck.

My problem is that all the books confuse me, like with Dixan.
This is a great question.
Unfortunetly, I don't know the answer, but it would be great if
someone could point those interested to a blind programming website,
since blindprogramming has gone down.
Does anyone know of any good resources for learning C++ as a blind

that I've tried using is too complicated or they use the creation of
windows
forms applications to teach c# concepts (and this involves dragging

dropping buttons, edit fields so on which isn't ideal for me). Are
there
any good books or free online tutorials that I can use to learn c#?
Also, if

If you already got the tuxedo receipt from Rachel, you are done as far
as getting what you need toward winning the game is concerned. The bit
about coming back for other measurements is just a tease and opening for
other possible branches off this game. So all you need is that receipt
and you are done with that part. There is something else you can get
from Rachel, but it's not necessary to win the game. It's done for
someone else in solving another puzzle.

 Hope this helps.

She said something about coming back another time but also said something
about being measured more accurately or something. The come back another
time suggested to me that the scene had been over, so I tried something
else, the only result being a nice scene but nothing really happened as to
 get my tux.

I have the keywords and ready enabled. How do the keywords work, though,
are they like Blue Lacuna? I did have the keywords off though when Rachel
happened to have said that bit of dialog.

I posted about it yesterday, or was it Sunday night, I can't remember.
You may want to check the archives. However it's an Adult Text Adventure
Interactive Fiction game written in Adrift version 4.00. While I am
happy to answer general questions about it to give people help, I ask
that no one post the adult related material questions to the list since
not everyone here would appreciate it and it would violate list guidelines.

Many thanks.

Examine the bench. What you find there comes in handy for Ashley.

Regarding Christine, there are many things you can give her. The cool
thing is I made the game dynamic enough that she'll accept things which
you can also give to someone else. So this can be good, but it can bite
you in the butt if you are not careful.

Many thanks.

Hi Nicol,
A torrent is a type of peer to peer software. In other words torrent
programs are used to share software, music, photos or whatever between
two or more computers. Instead of downloading the content from a web

host *.torrent files that is like a directory of computers known to
contain the content you are looking for.Simply download a torrent file,
open it in your favorite torrent client, and let it go.

Hello all. Just wanted to let you know that I've finally finished the
Adrift text adventure game I've been working on since late 2006. Due to
the nature of the game, I suggest that it not be discussed here. Although
it's a game, it's an adult text adventure game and would not be
appropriate for the list. However since I know some of you play text
adventures, and some of you also play adult text adventures, it's fair to
let you know about it.

You can find the game at www.aifcommunity.org in the Adrift 4.0 games
section. It's called Last Week, the file name specifically is
LastWeek-1.0.zip.

Many thanks and if you have any questions about the game, you can either
write me privately or you can subscribe to the aifarchive email group on
yahoogroups where all adult text adventure games are discussed.

many thanks.

Hi Hayri,
It's coming along pretty well so far. I've been reworking some of the

performing several updates. One of the new things I have just added to
the game is the ability to pick up jewels like rubies, sapphires,

game. I'm also considering redoing level 1 to make it use some of the
new features available in the game like poison darts and spike traps.

Hi,
Hmmm...That could certainly get interesting. As it happens Prince of
Persia: The Sands of Time was an awesome game. I definitely wouldn't
mind seeing an accessible version of that game.

Re: [Audyssey] mainstream game accessibility

2009-08-18 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Pranav,
It is true I don't know of many game developers that have set up booths
at major conventions, but some have tried it with mixed success. I know
james North tried it when he was still running ESP, and I know PCS Games
went a couple of times. Problem is trying to make enough off of the
sales to make it worth while. As always it comes down to a matter of
time and money. Neither of which I have enough of to properly market my
games.

Pranav Lal wrote:

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for clarifying that. I appreciate all those statistics and yes we do
have far bigger challenges to overcome. However, perhaps what is needed is
greater awareness even in these organisations about accessible games. For
example, I have not seen any game developers host any stalls in any of the
blindness conventions or major blindness technology conferences. I suspect
this is because most developers are single man operations and do this in
their spare time. To counteract this, perhaps a bunch of enthusiastic users
could put up the money and host stalls at blindness technology shows.

Re: [Audyssey] online gaming

2009-08-18 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Michael,
If there isn't any games going on you will have to ask some of your RR
friends to join you online for a game. You can easily initiate a new
game and ask others to join.
As for chatting it is a chat room where everyone types messages to
everyone else and the new chat message is read aloud by Sapi. A chat
session might look like this.

Bill: Anyone up for a game?
Joe: Yeah, sounds good.
Michael: Sure sounds like fun.
Bill: Ok, let's race on Daytona.
Joe: Ok.
Michael: That's alright with me.
Bill: has started a new race on Daytona.

Re: [Audyssey] learning c#

2009-08-18 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Dickson,
Two very good books you might want to look at is Learning C# and
Programming C# both published by O'reilly and associates. These books
can be found on Bookshare or you can pay to read them online at

http://safari.oreilly.com
which is the most accessible and comprehensive programming site I know of.
As far as learning to write Windows forms applications in C# that is
really the entire point of using a language like Visual C#. It provides
a programmer with a quick and easy method to rapidly create, design, and
deploy Windows applications. What a lot of blind programmers have
trouble with is not the language, but understanding how to use the
development tools properly. Any book you pick up and read will tell you
to drag and drop a control from the toolbox. Well, technically speaking
the method a sighted person uses isn't how we would perform that same task.
For example, let us assume a programming tutorial tells us to drag and
drop a button on our form. We can't do that you say. Of course not the
way the books tell you how to do it, but there is a quick and easy
alternative.
First, make sure you are centered on the Windows form. Second, press
control+w then the letter x. This will drop you in the toolbox window.
Select button from common controls and it will be dropped on the center
of your form. Now, press f4 on the button and a properties window will
appear. Now, you can punch in the position, height, width, name, etc by
hand. When done press escape and you have just created a new button.
Press f7 on your newly created button to open the code window to write
the button clicked event code for that button. That's justone example
where knowing how to correctly use the IDE helps.
As far as what to use in your games I highly suggest using SlimDX
instead of Managed DirectX or XNA. The Managed DirectX API has been
replaced by the XNA Framework, and is scheduled to be removed from the
core DirectX SDK in the not too distant future. So Managed DirectX is
something of a dead end. The XNA Framework isn't fully accessible do to
its dependancy on XAct for audio development which also makes it a poor
solution. SlimDX, however, is an open source API that uses the combo of
DirectX and XNA components. Unlike the Microsoft XNA Framework the
SlimDX team depends on the newer XAudio2 and X3D libraries for audio out
put which makes it fully accessible, and doesn't require XAct for
programming sound support. So that is my recommendation.

HTH

Hello

I've recently installed visual studio c# express 2008 and have been playing
with it. However, I have not had much luck learning c# as most of the books
that I've tried using is too complicated or they use the creation of windows
forms applications to teach c# concepts (and this involves dragging and
dropping buttons, edit fields so on which isn't ideal for me). Are there
any good books or free online tutorials that I can use to learn c#? Also, if
I decide to create an audio game, should I use the direct X framework or the
XNA framework?

As far as what book a c++ programmer should read tryTeach Yourself C++
In 21 Days 4th Eddition by Jessie Liberty. It is a well written and in
depth introduction to the C++programming language. As it happens I still
use the book to look up things I've forgotten and need to be refreshed
on. Unfortunately, my copy is a bit out of date and I haven't downloaded
the updated version yet or I'd send a copy of it to you.

Unfortunetly, I don't know the answer, but it would be great if
someone could point those interested to a blind programming website,
since blindprogramming has gone down.
Does anyone know of any good resources for learning C++ as a blind person?

end quote

Hi sean,
Nothing personal, but I think what you stated here about the devs is total
crap.
To say Jims games are small potatoes and that he isn't as important as the
folks releasing commercial games is just asinine. Last I checked, Jim has
more solid titles out there than any of the other developers, and most of
them combined. And if his games haven't been colectively played more than
any other developers out there, I'll eat my shorts.
And to say USA games is top tier and blind adrenaline is below them is
ridiculous. Nothing against Thomas, but blind adrenaline has 4 commercial
releases out there now, all making money, all running with over 95 percent
success rate on the systems and all with pretty much unanimous praise from
the players. As of this writing, USA games hasn't released a single
commercial title, although one has been imminent for quite a while. Again,
no slam on thomas' work, what I've seen of it shows he knows what he is
doing, but I don't know what standard you could possibly be going by to rate
what he has done over Kitchens Inc and Blind Adrenaline simulations. Rail
Racer was voted best game of 2007, and you don't even mention Blind
Adrenaline in your little list.
Most of the time I just disregard your drivel, but these posts needs some
serious correction.
If you are going to deem yourself worthy of making comparisons between
game companies, you need to show you half way know what you are talking
about, or be deemed unable to post a solid opinion.
Sorry if this comes across harsh, but I am proud of Blind Adrenaline's
accomplishments, as I am sure Jim is of his, ditto for Jean Luc with Sound
RTS, and rightly so, and to be judged second or third tier unjustly is just
ridiculous

 Out.

Re: [Audyssey] my cyberassault soundpacck

2009-08-18 Thread Johnny Tai
Well, import it with a gmud32 client, then you'd have the sounds in the gmud
folder and can do what you want with them.
I used the gmud32 to export the soundpack, and honestly, I have no idea how
to single out the sounds used for cyberassault to repack a zip myself rofl-
and if I want to upload the whole sound folder, I'd have to upload it in
like 5 pieces since it is well over 1 gb.

No one ever kicked ass by saying I can't.

Re: [Audyssey] learning c#

2009-08-18 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Tristan,
Sorry, but I disagree. You stated that C# is a challenge for the
smartest of blind game developers. Personally, i found the language
very easy to learn and use. In fact, I got a book on C# from the Safari
web site, read it, and began using the language for private and
professional use with in a month. So the language can't be that hard to
learn. I'm living proof it is not as hard as you claim.
As it happens do you know the difference between C# .NET and Visual
Basic .NET? As it happens both languages are very similar. The only, and
i do mean the only difference, is that C# applications uses c-Style
conventions and the Visual Basic .NET programs uses basic-style
programming. They both use the .NET Framework, classes, namespaces,
objects, etc. To an uninformed observer the languages would appear
completely different, but the difference is a superficial one. Fact of
the matter is if you can learn one you can easily learn the other.
As for learning C++ being too advanced for a beginner for the most part
I agree. The language is fairly advanced, but by learning that language
a programmer will be well equipped to learn other c-style languages such
as C#, Java, perl, etc. Most languages are based upon the C standard,
and thus it is invaluable if a programmer is going to master programming
privately or professionally. If someone is just doing it as a hobby then
learning C/C++ might not be all that important in the scheme of things,
but it helps if you want to become an advanced programmer.

Tristan B wrote:

If your not just starting out, I'm sorry, just saying..

Re: [Audyssey] GMA game engine

2009-08-18 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Charles,
Great minds think alike. That's exactly the reason there is no free GMA
Engine and why I'm strongly considering selling Genesis to intrested
parties. A developer has to make a little money to cover operating
expenses or it becomes a financial liability instead of a side hobby.
One thing people need to keep in mind even though something like Linux
is open source, free to use, and download it isn't developed totally
free. The Linux companies charge for things like technical support,
manuals, accept donations, etc. All of which goes into paying developers
to maintain the operating system and programs as well as handle basic
operating expenses. In other words even though the software is given
away for free they have other ways of getting money to maintain the
software. A company has to do it, or they can't operate.

Re: [Audyssey] Last Week help needed

2009-08-18 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Charles,
Oh, that could get interesting. I'm not sure I would want to be him when
his wife to be finds out about all of the women he as been involved with
in the first game. After all, our super stud gets to do the bed room
tango with 11 women in a week. That's more than enough to have his wife
kill him let alone adding to it by creating a sequel game. Lol!

Charles Rivard wrote:
Maybe you'll remember next week that it was last week? Hmm. The
sequel could be called this week? It would always be a game that is
with the times, because it isn't last week, which was a week ago,
but it is this this week, regardless of what week it is.
