Hi Tom
Thank you for the info.
I have read on google about balloon fight.
I take it the sort of kissing sound I heard was the player about to fall in
water; stepping on the mud boundary?
how many stages does balloon fight have?
I have uploaded a small file on sendspace; recorded on my keyboard.
I would like to know what this sound in the game represented?
I heard this sound quite often while I played the game.
Sorry guys, I prefer sendspace as I can use the sendspace wizard and this is
a tiny file.
Sorry shaun, but my keyboard records the stuff in wave and this file is only
601 kb.
The link is

Many thanks for any info you might have.

[Audyssey] mario brothers recordings

2011-03-02 Thread NIcol
Hi list
Is there any good Mario brothers sound recordings available on the web,
done by sighted folks which can be listened to on a windows pc?
I prefer a recording where the player tells what happens, but this is not
essential; as long as I can listen to some Mario game play.
Any info you might have is appreciated.

I know friends that just cheat to finnish the game without solving it.

Put them in a puzzle game and its like why do I have to do this I

2011-03-02 Thread shaun everiss

well I just listened to your file nickle.
Firstly, forcing views on others is not good.
I my self am christian.
Violence?
Ok I aggree some of the sighted games are violent our stuff has
stratogy, I'd never play violent games with no plot or anything.

There are loads of non violent games.
jims card game, and a few others.
The future of blind gaming, well I doubt that any of us would want a
click and shoot game either.

Its fine not to like harry potter or other stuff.
But Maybe if you don't like these thing you can make a game where
someone plants flowers in a guarden and see if it sells.

there is golf and other sport games.
There are text adventures not all would be your cup of tea but most would.
If you don't like a game don't play it.
as for the future, its unsertain.
Games could all go away.
Yeah right now I know, it looks bleak.
Most of the stuff is old and dusty.
But it will get better hopefully.
You may be puzzle orriententated more than some others.
At 05:24 a.m. 1/03/2011, you wrote:

Nicol,
There are two things I want to emphasise myself on this subject, and
I want you to be crystal clear on them..

Number one.
You believe what you want to believe. Don't let anybody brain wash
you into thinking that what I say goes and is the way forward in
life. If you are taught to believe something and you choose to
believe in it of your own free will, then that's fine. But then if
you still choose to preach the reason for your unhappiness to us,
then you are not going by your teachings, but by your own beliefs
regarding them.
If you want to believe that violent games is a way of showing love
for violence, then you go ahead and believe that. Nobody's stopping you.

This brings me very nicely onto point number two.
Please do not try and force those views, opinions and beliefs upon
us. Do not push a hose down our throats and turn the water on simply
because we don't want to drink just yet. There are very few games
out there for the visually impaired as it is, and the way you are
talking may just send more developers crashing to the ground like so
many others before. We should be thanking these guys for bringing
their creations out into the world. I certainly know that I have
been phased beforehand because of some of the thankless emails I
have received complaining about certain features or lack thereof in
my games and have, on more than one occasion, thought about simply
ditching the whole thing. I'm glad I haven't, since I do enjoy
making games. But I don't like some of the ingratitude that
sometimes follows a release.
What I always say is, if you simply don't like the game content, for
whatever reason, whether it be your beliefs or anything that is
personal, you know what you got to do. Just don't play it and stop
moaning at us. If you have anything constructive to say about it,
then by all means do so. But telling us to cut out the violence
simply because it isn't in your religion certainly is not very
constructive. It is more demanding and selfish, and independent
developers, who aren't exactly doing it as a full time job, do not
have neither the time nor the patience to be modifying the game
content just for the sake of a petty complaint.

I will bring forth another point on a slightly less firm note.
I am myself a Christian, but I don't not play games just because
they contain violence, whether in cartoon or gory fashion. My belief
is that fictional violence is fine, since it is not exactly
happening. It is just mixed up sound effects and graphics where
applicable. But I'm not going to tell you to start playing these
games because you should be believing the same as me.
Also, I do not believe that playing violent game shows a love for
violence. In fact, I am completely the opposite. If I see violence
on the street, or indeed anywhere, I would be one of the first to
put myself in between them and break it up. I have a partner whom I
love very dearly and brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews,
parents etc who always have my full support. And where new people
are concerned, I'm as shy as anything. Does that suggest a love for
violence to you?

There's another thing that God wants us to do.
Live and let live.
So why don't we all do that for a change, instead of getting into
flame wars, and sometimes even real wars as far as countries are
concerned, over the importance of religion?

OK, rant over.
Regards,
Damien.

There's no point in being taught something if you aren't prepared to ask
questions about it. I know of pastors who would say that you shouldn't just
follow blindly because if god gave us brains then he obviously intended for
us to use them.

To say that x is wrong and I'm saying this because that's what I've been
taught to me is very weak.

It's personal choice as to what types of games people play and nobody should
be criticizing those who play a particular type of game or those that don't.

That doesn't excuse you calling other developers loveless because
they make violent games. And the shooting in pipe 2 is vastly
different from shooting in other games. And I hate to be harsh... but
there are some things that are taught that just seem so obvious
shoudln't be believed... but to each their own. If I came across as
harsh, I appologize. It just seems like you are imposing the view of
both yourself and your religion on others. And if those things were
not your views but came from what you've been taught... it certainly
could've fooled me.

Let's go into our daily lives. Ever killed a fly, cockroach or

Just my thoughts.

Original message:

Hi Nicol.

What you're basically saying here, to me, is that people should only
consider Jehova witnesses when making games. You and only you.
Calling others without love for goodness because they create games
with violence and supernatural aspects to them is very, very
judgmental. Just because one small bunch of people does not like
arcade games that have violence and shooting, you guys are allowed to
call people who make games like that basically heartless.

Video games have always had some degree of violence to them. Mario
brothers is a good example of... uh, supernatural, I think. Sure the
violence is cartoonish, but violence is violence. So your logic is
very, very flawed.

I am a Christian. I am not the type to preach constantly, but I point
you to the verse in the bible that says "judge not, lest ye be
judged." That's a verse that always rang true for me, but there are
times when I judge, despite that. And now is one of them. I think
certain Christian groups need to wake up and realize that the world
does not, and will not, bend to your ways. Simply because you believe
that violent games are a form of delving into the things of Satan
does not mean everyone else believes it. People don't play violent
games because they love violence. I play Street Fighter for the work
it does for my brain, the competition when I play with friends, and
to build skills of keeping track of things as well as reflexes. That
is the same reason I love Shades of Doom, Blast Chamber's shooting
aspects, and Mota. Tom has done a more than exellent job with Mota...
and it saddens me to see it put down, simply because it does not
agree with someone's spiritual beliefs.

Although I am a Christian, I feel the need to say that there are way
too many Christians in this world who think all too highly of
themselves. The majority of us tend to think that the world should
all believe in God, and do anything to enforce that view. Christians
have always preached for peace and no violence... yet what happened
during the crusades? People need to realize that it's the majority in
the world that decides things, and unfortunately, there's other
religions in the world... not just Christianity! Shocker, eh?

I don't like to talk about these things much... I'd rather save my
energy for something else more productive. There's more that I could
say, but I think I've pointed out most of what has to be pointed out.
Am I a believer in God? Yes. Do I believe 100% of everything I hear
from the bible? Not always. Why? Because there are many, many
contradictory things in there and frankly, following the basic morals
of peace and love in the bible are enough for me. I sing and play
Christian worship music, I have Christian friends and I pray on a
daily basis. But I would not go so far as to put down a developer or
anyone else who did something they felt satisfied their target
audience, no matter what my beliefs.

I'll probably come back and say more later. But Nicol, I am going to
leave you and all other christians who might have the same view on
this list with a question. And I urge you to be careful how you
answer this one.

I am currently starting to practice a martial art. It is an art known
as Iaido, and consists of sword techniques used to dispatch an
opponent at the same time you draw the sword, flicking the blood off
the blade and resheathing. I have been going at it for 2 months, and
the fact that it's an art that was once used as a method of killing
does not bother me in the least. Does that make me in any way evil or
unloving? Especially since the philosophy behind the art is never
using it unless you have to, and the teachings of the art are
centered around doing things with full commitment, treating others
equally and acting with honor? Answer that question for me, if you
will. Just something to think about. Anyone else is welcome to ask
questions about the art... though as that is somewhat off-topic, if
you are curious, please email offlist.

Clement.

Aggreeing with him on some points and debating others.
Because of this we have respect of a sort and religion is hardly brought up.

No. Instead, the two of us play palace punch-up! Yes, a violence.

Clement, it was never my intention to put down any dev.
And it was never my intention to say that developers should only make games
for Jehovah's witnesses.
I am just unhappy because pipe2 has shooting when there are so many other
shooting games.
And what I said throughout the recording, is not of my own.
Its what I have been constantly been taught at our meetings.
So don't be cross with me, because its not of my own that I said these

Hope this clears the air at least a bit.

This was my first recording, I chew off more than I could bite.
I wasn't intending in any way to launch a personal attack.
Please can you guys forgive me and move on?
If tom and Raul decides to ban or moderate me, that's fine, I can handle it

Re: [Audyssey] baloon fight

2011-03-02 Thread shaun everiss

hmmm the bgt folder has a blast a balloon game.
I guess with arrows etc it could be possible.
I imagine this as baloons come at you at different speeds, and you
have to centre them and shoot as many as you can or get a sertain
number per level.
Potentually you could have blank empty ones ones filled with water
etc with different sounds.
In addition if you get hit with something like water or shaving cream
you may fall over if you get hit with hmm a bee or hot sause you
loose a life or something.

it sounds interesting to be sure.
I'd definately want to play it if you want to program that in bgt I'd
actually play that.

You can put any sound in the balloon, ie you could well put glass just for sfx.
Or you could miss and hit something else like a window at random or something.
Obviously we will leave people out of that, but I guess if you burst
a balloon in their face or near buy you could give them a fright they
would jump and then they would hit their head.

Ofcause being a non violent game I was imagining a cartoon boing.
THat would be bad though because they would try to burst a balloon at
your head causing you to jump and you would have to run.

There are all sorts of ideas you could do for this.
At 02:56 a.m. 2/03/2011, you wrote:

Hi list
Since I was very addicted to balloon fight when playing console games as a

And will there be any copyrights to watch out for if a balloon fight remake
is developed?
What I do remember is that if I pressed the joy stick left or right, the
game would make a sound similar to a kiss sound letting me know I am about
to die.
And then if I go left or right further I die.
But if I pressed the joystick up or right I was ok.
Does anybody know why that was the case?
I loved the sound effects in balloon fight.
Happy gaming.

hi.
You may have seen my posts on the ag forum about this and other
codefactory games.
Due to issues with the protection system mangling things for one of these
and my dislike of another I have decided to leave them alone.

However in time adventures I have just just come back from the market.
The game thinks the baskets are to take therefore there must be a use.
But either I am missing a command or I am being a stupid idiot or
something, what exactly do I do now, how do I access my food in the
baskets to cook with.

Re: [Audyssey] baloon fight

2011-03-02 Thread dark
Though I never owned a nes, my dad did once get one of these compilation
things that plugged into the tv, and baloon fight was the game I played most
on it, it reminded me slightly of joust, but was more interesting given the
extra enemies and bonuses, also the fact you had more hits than in joust.

As an interesting fact I actually think packma n talks or dynaman is more
fun than the original packman, sinse you can only get a litle of the maze
presented to you in 3D at once, which makes it far more an exploration game
than the original graphical game.

Re: [Audyssey] ESP Pinball Classic

2011-03-02 Thread Lelia Struve
I have a question along these lines, I at first thought you had to wait
for the scanner to scan something and then use your flippers to hit the
ball that direction, but now that I've been playing these games a bit,
I think I've got it somewhat wrong.
Would I be right in thinking that when I hear the ball come next to
either my left or right flipper I hit the flipper so it can flip the
ball to a certain area on the table?

Hope that makes sense. thanks

I would buy ESP Pinball Classic which contains the 6 original pinball
tables, along with Pinball Xtreme which contains 6 more tables, along with
the Pinball Party Pack that contains 3 more. Then you would have all 15.
Loads of pinball fun.

Re: [Audyssey] ESP Pinball Classic

2011-03-02 Thread dark
Most of the time, when the ball gets near a flippr it will stick, and you'll
then here the scan running through what you can fire the ball at (though
this will vary according to where on the flipper it is), and when you here
the sound for something you press space to flick the ball.

the one exception is the big extra flipper in sudworks, which you need to
catch the ball with when you here it hit the flipper and the beeping sound.

I have a question along these lines, I at first thought you had to wait for
the scanner to scan something and then use your flippers to hit the ball
that direction, but now that I've been playing these games a bit, I think
I've got it somewhat wrong.
Would I be right in thinking that when I hear the ball come next to either
my left or right flipper I hit the flipper so it can flip the ball to a
certain area on the table?

Hope that makes sense. thanks

Re: [Audyssey] O no what did I just do?

2011-03-02 Thread dark

Well lellia, in fairness the pinball party pack is only 14 dollars.

I'm not sure how it is overe where you are, but here in england that is
roughly ten pounds which is approximately the same cost I'd pay for a pizza,
(along with side order drink and pudding of course, I know some very good
pizza places), and if I'm willing to pay it for a pizza which will be gone
completely half an hour after I've ordered it, I don't see the problem in
paying it for a game which I can keep and play for far longer.

this is generally why I personally, despite being a graduate student with
not much cash doesn't mind paying for games.

Hi list
Is there any good Mario brothers sound recordings available on the web,
done by sighted folks which can be listened to on a windows pc?
I prefer a recording where the player tells what happens, but this is not
essential; as long as I can listen to some Mario game play.
Any info you might have is appreciated.

I would buy ESP Pinball Classic which contains the 6 original pinball
tables, along with Pinball Xtreme which contains 6 more tables, along
with

the Pinball Party Pack that contains 3 more. Then you would have all 15.
Loads of pinball fun.

[Audyssey] games we'd like to play: icecream man

2011-03-02 Thread NIcol
Plot and objective: the call center where you work, is part of a massive
building. On your way to your workstation, you have to walk through this
massive building. Your work station is at the back of the building; after
managing a few steep ramps.
When you are on your way home from work, the building suddenly starts to
cave in. Everyone has been warned about the bomb thread that the
switchboard operator got.
The threader told her that this bomb will slowly cause the whole building
to cave in.
The operator passed the message on to all team leaders in the call centre.
but you were on the telephone with an irate client, unaware of the news.
So everybody is already home, you have to escape out of this building, while
debree is falling.
You run, side step left and right a few times, and press control down arrow
to crouch to miss some greater stones falling.
Finally you are on the street, on your way home.
You hear the bell of the icecream man!
Icecream! Just the cooler I want! you say.
So your job now is to catch the icecream man to buy icecraem from him.
It looks as if he tries to dodge you, but in fact his bicycle just pretends
dodging you. So in 3d game movement, you have to collide with his bicycle
and then buy some icecream from him.
Each ice cream you buys from him before his bicycle do the dodging thing
again, gives you bonus points.
Ah, ice cream!

[Audyssey] games we'd like to play: descend into street madness

2011-03-02 Thread NIcol
Plot and objective:
You are wandering the streets of Missouri, USA.
You, the character of this game, is the kind of person that likes to talk
to strangers; only problem is: they do not always like to talk to you!
So as you approach strangers, your character will randomly choose one of 5
topics to converse with the stranger about based on a randomizer in the
game: Barbie dolls, pop music, movies, pop corn and news events.
Some strangers will get irate and attack you.
You, the game character, doesn't fight back, but instead, block the attacks
with either shift key, depending where the attacker taunts you; left or
right .Some strangers is too fast for you to block their attacks.
so you see a building far off.
You run as fast as you can into this building.
You wander about in this building, consisting of branching passages.
You can only hide for a while in the building after you are teleported back
to the streets once the timer reaches 0.
Seldomly, a begger will ask you for food.
If you buy him fruit or bread from the nearby rural shop, the attacking
strangers will be defeated and disappear temporarily or permanently based
on a randomizer.
Buy him fast food such as hot chips and the attacking strangers will double!
If I or someone else manage to develop this game, movement will take place
as in treasure hunt; pressing and holding down an arrow key to walk in that
direction.

[Audyssey] games we'd like to play: parrat man

2011-03-02 Thread NIcol
Plot and objection, so, you have impressed your pet owner a lot by all the
funny things you do and say.
So he decides to take you with him to the bar.
You impress the bar tender so much that he appoints you as junior bar
tender. So you get a grip on a glass of drink with your beak.
You do this by slowly descending with your beak with your down arrow.
you have to wait for a little piece of music playing.
The moment the music stops, you have to press down arrow immediately.
This repeats a couple of times until you are right at the drink with your
beak .Now listen for a beeping sound, the moment it stops press control
followed by shift very quickly to get a grab unto the drink.
This will repeat a few times until you got a firm grip of the drink.
Now you must deliver the drinks to customers.
You fly by means of 3g game movement, until you hear a voice saying ahh,
with a rough voice tone; followed by a short piece of music.
Make sure you find the table before that music stops or you'll be reported
by the irate customer!
If the music is in the g key , deliver the drink, if its in g flat then go
on until you get an ah, sound followed by a short piece of music in the g
key . Once at the table, you will hear another short piece of music
transposing; frequently changing keys.
When it reaches g, release the drink unto the table with the following keys
in the right order and in quick succession.
Down arrow, enter, shift and backspace.
Watch out! Sometimes the music man decides only to play 2 bars in g so
you'll have little time to deliver that drink before the music transposes to
another key again!
And it might also take long before it decides to visit the g key again, and
the customer gets more irate by the second!
Once the customer has its drink, you have 15 seconds to find the table of
the senior bar tender to get the next drink to be delivered. during this
time a short piece of music will play, rising in tempo as the time runs out.
Of course you will tell the bar man what is the next drink to be delivered.
You're a talking parrat, aren't you?
Mission2
The bar tender is so amazed with you, he appoints you as bouncer of the
bar. You have to throw out all the misbehavers.
Fly in 3d game movement until you get to a person you think misbehaves, then
give him a nasty bite on his nose with your p and f5 keys in immediate
succession and in the right order.
Watch out! Some people will make wild jokes, but they are not necessarily
misbehavers !IN that case, uh what can I say!
Ouch! You lose a life, the bartender throws you into the ice container and
shuts it!
You get 3 lives.

search and wa la your site came up with the price list. Thanks for
that, its a great idea.

Original message:

Lelia,
Yeah I found out that some game companies make finding their prices
difficult.
That is why I have a list on my web site,
Price list of the games you can buy from the web sites in the Blind
Accessible Games page, updated July 14, 2010
http://www.pcsgames.net/prices.htm

I also ask people to let me know if the prices has changed on any of the

Ok, so I've bought a few games from Draconis, but man I gotta tell you,
there price list is very hard to find. You'd think if they wanted you to
buy there games, they'd make it a bit easier to find prices? Or, to give
them credit, maybe I'm just not finding it easy.
Again, before I get yelled at, I honestly did look and only found some of
there prices by doing a search on the net.
I can't remember where I found this, but someone has an actual price list
of some games from Draconis and other gamers. Cool thought.
Ok, rant over.

Due to issues with the protection system mangling things for one of

However in time adventures I have just just come back from the market.

Well i actually already own esp extreme and the pinball party pack, but have

best, and after playing the extreme wild west table the original wild west
isn't quite as much fun as it could be.

but I've decided what the heck, I want to try the safari, heist, football

[Audyssey] Phil's price list and other entires

2011-03-02 Thread dark
Hi.

For a long whil I've been meaning to write up audiogames.net entries for the
azabat games, especially sinse Steve crawford did send me a free copy of the
demo cd.

as it looks like I'm finally! going to get off my back side to do this, I
checked the website and azabat are also now selling crossword collections
for 20 pounds each (about 35 usd), and a collection of educational games for
30 pounds (about 50 usd).

I also don't think I saw 3d velosity from bpc programs on the list either.

sorry for being picky, but the list is a really handy resource afterall.

2011-03-02 Thread Trouble
You know for me, If I can't find prices on what I'm thinking on
getting. Then its one of 2 things.

1. They don't want to sell product.
2. They still don't know what they are doing!
Biggest turn offs are having to find the price buy putting item in
cart and going through checkout. That makes me alt+ f4 and forget that site.

[Audyssey] fishing game for playstation 1 playable.

2011-03-02 Thread Matheus r.c. souza
hey everyone!
here i come with the menu layout for this fishing game for the psx, i'm
playing it in the emulator, but i have a copy of the game to play with
my ps2, i really like this game, onse you get a fish, it tells you the
size of it, it's weight and more things, and there are voices for most
things.
here's the menus layout
i've also uploaded the rom to my dropbox, so if you guys are interested
in a emulator, just tell
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1695866/Big_Ol_Bass.ccd
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1695866/Big_Ol_Bass.img
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1695866/Big_Ol_Bass.sub

comments appreciated. here's the layout

first screen
1: game:
beginner, tournament, free fishing, vs mode(this option is disabled by default
and it won't even appear if you don't have control 2 plugged in, so
don't count it in the menu if you're playing allone) and monster tournament
after you select a mode, you will choose number of players, same
situation, if there's only 1 person playing, there will be no second
player option. after choosing it, there will be the place select screen,
onse you choose one, you will travel to it and can choose the lure
after that you can fish! happy fishing!
options:
change options's value by moving left or right and change options by
going up and down.
credits: 2 in 2: starts with 3, so if you go right, it would go to 5,
then 7, then 9(maximum) and go back to one.
difficulty: normal, easy, hard. starts in normal
voice starts turned on by default
auto save starts default off
load
save
controller
exit
controller:
control a
vibration: starts on by default
reel sensitivity: starts with 3, can go up to 5

in game commands: use the analog stick to reel, press x button to cast
the rod, onse the beep starts playing when you're catching the fish,
press r1, l1, so the line won't breaks, and if you want to change the
lure to place press l1 when the pole isn't in the water. first option is
to select wether if you want to change the lure or place, just one of
the options and then press x, and choose what you want again, it's
pretty straightforward.

Re: [Audyssey] A question about playing games and my computer

2011-03-02 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Lilia,

I don't think so. There are a number of fans inside your computer that
cool certain things. There is the fan for the CPU that keeps your
processor from burning up, general case fans to keep the case at a
steady tempature, and there are fans in the power supply to keep it
from getting too hot. So just because the fans in your computer get
louder doesn't mean your computer is burning up. All it means is that
your computer has gotten a little hotter inside and the fans are
working harder to cool the inside of your computer case. This is
pretty normal for CPU intensive applications.

Re: [Audyssey] Phil's price list and other entires

2011-03-02 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi all,

Choke! Azabat Games actually sells their game packs for $65.32 each?

That is out ragious. I've seen full blown mainstream games for that
from time to time, but those are way more complicated and cost way
more to create. I can pick just about any mainstream game I want off
the shelf and buy it for less than those game collections. I'm sorry
but I think Azabat Games collections are a rip off for that price.

Re: [Audyssey] A question about playing games and my computer

2011-03-02 Thread Charles Rivard
Not at all. The fans inside the computer run faster when you use the
computer for doing a lot of work during the running of a program, which is
what playing a game is. If the fans did not run faster, providing more
cooling air to the parts of the computer, that's what you would worry about,
because they would overheat and quit or burn up and have to be replaced. So
there's no need to worry if it gets louder. In short, "spin, babies, spin!"

Re: [Audyssey] baloon fight

2011-03-02 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Nicol,

Honestly, I have no idea what that sound stands for. I have never
played that game myself. To be rather canded it wasn't the kind of
game I would have played when I was sighted. I was usually into walk
along beat-m-ups like Castlevania, Double Dragon, Legend of Kage, Bad
Dudes, Batman Return of the Joker, Ninja Turtles, and things like
that. In other words games with plenty of fighting and wall to wwall
combat and action. My friends and I would have viewed something like
Baloon Fight as down right childish back then.

Understand when that game came out I was a preteen or teenager by
then. So I played whatever my friends were into mostly. To pick up a
game like Baloon fight would have gotten me laughed at and put down by
my peers. Baloon Fight would have been looked at as too childish, and
no one at that age wants to be picked on by his/her peers for playing
a game. Naturally, I'm older now, my views have changed, but I don't
have any experience with the game to help you with it.

Cheers!

Wow. Based on their pricing alone, I'd say that Azabat can, and probably
will, keep their games. I don't think I'll be buying them any time soon.
Not for a lack of money, but because I value it more than that.

Re: [Audyssey] Phil's price list and other entires

2011-03-02 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Charles,

Yeah, like no kidding. Although, to be fair I think this is probably
an exchange rate issue more than anything. The British Pound has a lot
more value than the U.S. Dollar so if they set their prices based on
the British Pound, which they do, someone living out side the U.K.
has to pay far more to purchase those games than someone living in the
U.K. The Euro and Dollar just don't have the same kind of buying power
and for us it becomes an insane amount of money for those games.

For the record I've experienced the same issues when I was selling
Montezuma's Revenge. For us $35.00 USD is not really a lot. However, I
have gotten complaints from foreign markets where the exchange rates
are so bad between our countries that they would have to pay a years
worth of money to purchase that game. Its not my fault, but just an
issue with exchange rates and our global econemy. I think that is the
same here when it comes to those Azabat games.

Cheers!

Hi Ken,

Good question. To my knowledge no one has the game any more. I was
planning it to add it to the USA Games free games section, but never
could get a copy of the game. At any rate it was a pretty terrible
remake and in my opinion really isn't worth having all things
considered.

Well, I can definitely say there is both a demo and a price on the web

price is on the MOTA home page.

[Audyssey] Quick MOTA Announcement

2011-03-02 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi everyone,

I know I told a lot of you that Mysteries of the Ancients beta 18
would be done about the end of February. A lot of you have started
asking questions off list what is going on, why isn't the beta ready,
etc and I thought I'd make a quick public announcement explaining
where we stand on things. As so often happens with creating accessible
games as a side venture in our free time real life problems and
issues simply get in the way. This case is no different.

Around a week ago my wife got really sick. We took her to the hospital
where they gave her some antibiotics, and strict orders to stay in bed
for seven to ten days until she felt well enough to get out of bed.
As a result I've had to take over all of the house hold duties such as
cooking, cleaning, and doing simple tasks like fetching my wife a
glass of water when she needs to take a pill etc. The end result of
all of this is absolutely no time to work on MOTA at all. So our beta
18 release schedule is pretty much shot to pieces.

So here is the thing. I could go ahead and release beta 18 now, as is,
but it isn't complete so to speak. Most of the upgrades are done,
level 1 has been updated, but we don't yet have level 2 added to the
demo. So it is really your choice if you want to wait a few days for
me to add level 2 to the game, when I have the time to do so, or if
you would rather just have the beta now without level 2. Any thoughts?

Sincerely,
Thomas Ward

Hi Ken,

Good question. To my knowledge no one has the game any more. I was
planning it to add it to the USA Games free games section, but never
could get a copy of the game. At any rate it was a pretty terrible
remake and in my opinion really isn't worth having all things
considered.

Cheers!

Hi Ken,

Good question. To my knowledge no one has the game any more. I was
planning it to add it to the USA Games free games section, but never
could get a copy of the game. At any rate it was a pretty terrible
remake and in my opinion really isn't worth having all things
considered.

Cheers!

Subject: [Audyssey] Quick MOTA Announcement

Sincerely,
Thomas Ward

[Audyssey] games we'd like to play: dry ice blaster

2011-03-02 Thread NIcol
Plot and objection: you're a little elve living on the planet malmac.
You heard all these nasty experiences where doctors burn warts on patients
with dry ice.
You thought you'd better do something about this!
There is many wart pencils on the market that can deliver the same result,
just not that quick, but doctors don't want to buy that one!
Meaning they don't believe in wart penciles.
So you get into your scifi transport pad and you teleport to planet earth.
IN the nights you teleport into all doctors' rooms with your blast machine.
You move with 3d game movement till you get an object.
X will tell you when an object is a dry ice cylinder.
So if you have reached one, you fire away with your blast machine with
spacebar and blast those dry ice cylinders to bits and pieces!
Only problem is: the dry ice will splat wildly in all directions. if you're
not quick enough; you might get an overdose of dry ice!
Ouch! that doesn't sound too good. The game gives you 3 lives.
So its: blast, dodge, blast, dodge.
You teleport back to malmac with a feeling of great satisfaction and a
fantastic score, depending on how many dry ice beasties you managed to
blast. The doctors found the next morning there dry ice cylinders is blasted
to pieces but no one could find the guilty one.
Police scanning the whole place didn't work.
You are back in malmac with a smile of satisfaction.

[My Reply:]
Hi,

No, you should only worry when your computer starts beeping at
you or shuts itself down, depending on how your system has been
programmed to handle overheating. Some systems will beep at you to warn
you about it, but the better systems will drop your CPU speeds down in
an effort to slow things down for you. More specifically, today's
computers are designed to increase fan speeds first, in order to cool
things down. You should hear my system when it powers up. It first
sounds like a 747 is landing on my street, and then drops down so as to
be barely noticeable, but in the mornings when they system is running
the daily tasks, running a virus and rootkit check, generating system
reports, starting a new day's logs, etc., the fan might kick up a notch,
but nowhere near how it sounds when starting up. If it ever gets that
noisy, then I'll know my computer is doing everything it can to cool the
system down, and too many programs are running, and it's time to give
the computer less to do. HTH,

Michael

PS: Hopefully Thomas isn't still censoring every bit of my posts and
this reaches you, but if not, no big loss to me <.shrugs.>

Reminds me of a game from a long time ago when you were the newspaper
delivery boy, and you had to avoid obstacles, stray dogs, etc. to deliver
newspapers - and we always thought it would be cool to have a game where you
could be the ice cream guy on his bicycle with the coolbox on the back - on
the other hand, as long as it didn't include that horrible tune that all
those ice cream mini vans this side of the world have permanently playing
while they haunt your neighbourhood...

So everybody is already home, you have to escape out of this building,
while

debree is falling.
You run, side step left and right a few times, and press control down
arrow

to crouch to miss some greater stones falling.
Finally you are on the street, on your way home.
You hear the bell of the icecream man!
Icecream! Just the cooler I want! you say.
So your job now is to catch the icecream man to buy icecraem from him.
It looks as if he tries to dodge you, but in fact his bicycle just
pretends

dodging you. So in 3d game movement, you have to collide with his bicycle
and then buy some icecream from him.
Each ice cream you buys from him before his bicycle do the dodging thing
again, gives you bonus points.
Ah, ice cream!
