[Audyssey] FWD: the Price is Right pc game

2011-09-16 Thread Jim Kitchen

Hi Jim. You might be interested in this. There's a brand new version of the Price is Right pc game that's just out. I ordered it from Amazon, and it should arrive today. It's called the Price is Right, Jewel Case edition. Now as you may know, I already have the 2010 edition, but this one is different in a couple ways. First, Unlike the 2010 edition, you don't need to have the disc in the dvd drive every time you play. You just put the disc in to download and install the game and from then on the game is permanantly in your hard drive. Also, and this is best of all, in the 2010 edition, each time you make a bid on a particular item, after all the bids are in, the actual retail price of the item appears on the screen, so you can't tell what the price is unless somebody is there to read it to you. With this new version, they tell you the actual retail price as well as show it on the screen. So now I'll have knowledge of all the prices in contestants row. The game is more blind user friendly. But it doesn't tell you what the others bid. You can listen to a sample of the game on youtube. Just do a google search for the Price is Right pc game, and you'll hear a trailer for the new Jewel case edition. There are 28 pricing games in the Jewel case edition, as opposed to 20 in the 2010 edition.

Hi Jim. I got the new Price is Right game I told you about. I made a mistake about the disc not having to be in the drive. You do need the disc in the drive. But the game is fun and exciting. Everything is totally different from the older version of the Price is Right. Not only are the items in the show cases different, but the audience is different, you can select a language to play the game in, the game takes minutes to install, whereas in the old version, it could take up to 20 minutes to install the game. After placing bids on items, the actual retail price of that item is spoken to you, which is something the old version doesn't do. The wheel is different. In the old version, you were the first player to spin the wheel in the showcase showdown. Here, the other contestants spin first, and you're last. The pricing games are pretty much the same, though they're in a different order than the old version. There's also a party mode, where you can have up to four players. Each player types in their first name only, as some last names are too long. It's a fun game.
Jim

 Hi,

Talking about the iphone, I have to admit that I was somewhat dubious
 about
it before I got one. Now I have, I really do think that they are the way
 to
go. Voiceover works brilliantly in my opinion. Yes it takes a great deal
 of
getting used too but it's worth the learning curve if you ask me.

The lack of a touch keyboard did put me off for a long long time but
voiceover gets round this quite well.

I have also used voiceover on the net to a degree. I've checked my account
at http://www.gamestotal.com for my unification wars game that I play, it
works on there as well and that's a pretty html intensive page there.

It's also very good where gaming is concerned, because you don't always
 have
to use the screen to get where you're going, you can tilt the phone in
various ways to play certain types of games. Certainly I would advise you
 to
give an iphone device a good go because it is well worth it.

 Hi sean,

is available for I phone and android, but to date that is the only game
for android I have come across, and it doesn't even sound two exciting.

you are right about symbian being discontinued in favour of windows
phone 7, and although I just got a nokia e7 to try it out, I am
beginning to feel its more hastle than its worth, as the keyboard part
just isn't well designed, its so easy to knock the touch screen with
 your hand while texting.
and although with mobile speak this isn't a huge problem, I do find the
home screens on symbian 3 pathetic, only being able to have 4 shortcuts
per screen is just stupid, and both mobile speak and talks don't read
all icons on the home screen, plus interacting with a phone switchboard
system isn't very easy, especially selecting numbers on the touch
screen. although I could open the phone to physically dial in the
numbers once on the phone I don't see why I should have to.

the I phone is tempting, but I don't like the voices I have heard so far
on it, and although I guess I could get a blutooth keyboard, its just
more equipment to lug around, and I would need to keep it charged up.
plus I couldn't easily stand around in a public place and text with it
like I could do with a phone that has a physical keyboard, as I would
have to have the I phone in one hand, and keyboard in another.
unfortunately I think its unlikely the I phone will ever get a physical
keyboard, given that steve jobs hates physical buttons, and feels that
devices should be asthetically pleasing and easy for the sighted world
 to use.

Re: [Audyssey] entombed game frustration

2011-09-16 Thread dark

Hi Alan.

first some questions.

Are you equipping armor and weapons? whenever you get something, remember to
press e for the equipment menue and to wear it. You can also hit c and
compare it to something else your wearing/wielding (press tab to get to
different members of your party).

Second, are you using skillpoints? In the character menue (press c), each
time you level you will find an item saying alcoate skillpoints

Pressing enter on this you'll get to a menue of the characters' skills. use
pluss and minus on the number row (dash and equals, near backspace), to add
points, or take them away if your not happy, then when your done hit save
changes.
You get one each level, so spend them wisely, also remember to choose a
second job.

In second job terms, because how many magic and ability points to use
special techniques you get are defined by your primary class, it's not a
good plan to combine magic and none magic jobs, so a mage necromancer is far
more effective than a mage fighter would be.

Then, what tactics are you using? rmemeber that before pressing enter and
attacking with a spell or weapon you can hold a number key for the body
part, 8 for head, 5 for torso etc. Targiting these can be helpful in battle,
though of course their at a penalty.

speaking of penalties, also remember that magic never misses, so magic
classes, especially necromancer ad when you get it druid can be really
effective at destroying the enemy.

For an ultimate spammer easy mode class, try a half orc monk assassin, thoug
if your playing the demo you won't get the assassin job unfortunately.

Hth.

 Hi daren,
I am now really considering the I phone, as I found out about several
cases you can get for the I phone that come with built in blutooth
 qwerty keyboards,
from reading reviews, they all sound like they have advantages and
 disadvantages over each other.
do you think using one of these cases would make game play easier? the
reason I really didn't want an I phone was because of the touch screen,
but it looks like this issue is at least partly solved.
have you or anyone else reading this had experience of these combined
 case keyboards?

[Audyssey] castaways suggestion for disposing of useless people

2011-09-16 Thread alex wallis

Hi list.
Just a thought, I am in the middle of playing castaways mission 4, and I
had an idea for population control.
at the moment, we have the ability to destroy buildings, and I think it
would be cool if we could kill off parts of our population in the same way.
for example, I am at the stage with stocking the ship, and I only have a
handful of peasants, but I have a lot of useless upgraded people of
various types.
so rather than wasting time building more houses, it would be good if I
could dispose of these useless people for the greater good of the
population.
that way I could get new peasants etc without having to feed the useless
architects etc.

Rofl, that's an interesting idea. I wonder what everyone else thinks about an
option to kill off your own people. I definitely understand the reason for
wanting it though, haha.

I'd be fine with that, though I didn't know you could destroy

The version 2.3 update has finally been posted, and it has quite a few new
features that will keep people entertained. For
starters, I must again apologize for not having the new multiplayer mode ready,
but each day I get a little closer.

I fixed a few more small bugs, as well as another piece of the tome bug that I
had apparently missed the first time. A few
errors were fixed that caused the game to crash for people using unregistered
files. The debuglog.txt file is a little
better now, so it should log more useful information in the event of a game
crash.

Monks had a bug that caused them to sometimes ignore their tome writing duties
in exchange for leather working. This is
fixed now.

If you move over a closed building on the map, it will now say the word closed
after the building name.

I've added a clearer mission objective to mission 2's introduction. Some
people were getting confused about what exactly was
required of them in that mission. Hopefully it is easier to understand now.

The upgraded fisherman job Bait master has been changed to Angler, to make it
sound a little more accurate.

With all of the new sounds, some people will want to lower their volume so that
they can hear their screen reader better.
Hold shift and press brackets [ and ] to raise or lower the sound effects
volume within the game.

I've added a new feature to the main menu, which allows people to select a
custom sound pack. Rather than actually replacing
the sound files, people making their own sound packs can simply create a new
folder within the castaway directory. Populate
that folder with your own sounds that match the names found within the original
sounds folder. As a sample I have included a
folder called oldpause which is a tiny soundpack that just changes the pause
and resume sounds back to how they were in past
versions. You'll notice that I didn't have to use any other sounds except
pause and resume, since the game will
automatically look back to the default sounds folder for any missing sounds
from the custom sound pack. To try out the small
soundpack, set it on the main menu by typing oldpause where it prompts you for
the sound pack name.

Another feature on the main menu is a toggle called pauses. By default it is
set to short, but if you change it to long, the
supply messages Z X C and V will use periods instead of commas. Some people
like the messages how they have always been, but
a few people have had trouble since the comma pausing isn't long enough for
their screen reader. Hopefully this helps
everyone have what they feel is easiest to understand.

Farmers can now be upgraded using tomes. Upgrading farmers is a lot like
upgrading soldiers into the different troop types.
A menu allows you to turn your farmer into a Gardener, a Wheat farmer, a
Winemaker, or a Shepherd. The upgraded farmers get
a boost to their working speed, and will also focus their efforts on only their
particular skill. Gardeners work in
Vegetable farms, Wheat farmers grow wheat, Winemakers work in vineyards, and
Shepherds work in animal farms. For a while now
people have wanted to divide up their farmers into specific duties, and now you
can.

Mission 4 has been added! Prepare yourself for a vicious new enemy that will
force you to call upon skills from your past.
In addition to a tricky new enemy, plague becomes your first viral foe. The
longer it takes you to complete the mission, the
higher the risk that your people will catch the disease. If the illness wasn't
already bad enough, each person who is sick
with the plague raises the odds that more of your people will catch it. You
had better keep on top of the situation, or you
could quickly find yourself overwhelmed with dying citizens.

A new type of building has been introduced for mission 4. The Tudor house is a
larger home able to support 7 people instead
of the usual 4. The buildings are more expensive than using normal sized
houses, but if space is important to you, the Tudor
house may be your new best friend.

I wish everyone luck on the new additions. Have fun, and I will continue
working whenever I have time.

Re: [Audyssey] accessible games for android

2011-09-16 Thread alex wallis

Hi Daren,
well to save you hunting around, I will provide you with the names of
the keyboards I have found so far,

one is called the nuu MinniKey,
another is called the tk421
and the third is called the
buddy case, and is available from
www.boxwave.com
apparently this particular keyboard has a version 1 and two, with two
having a layout similar to a regular qwerty keyboard, though unlike
version 1 it doesn't have a dedicated number row, this particular
keyboard sounds interesting though as aparrently you can get 45 days
worth of battery from one charge. Having said that I read a very damming
review that totally slammed this keyboard, so I am not sure as I have
read equally positive and negative ones about all of the ones I have
listed so far.

I have read reviews of all of these keyboards, and they all sound very
different to each other, with advantages and disadvantages to each.

One thing that does concern me about the I phone is interacting with the
touch screen on a call, for example when trying to interact with a menu
driven phone system.
I recently got a nokia e7, running talks and I have decided to sell it,
as I just wasn't able to find the numbers on the touch screen for
dialing in pin codes for my bank and voice mail, it was just two slow,
and I was getting cut off or transferred to operators.
having said that, one thing that really got in the way on the phone was
having to tap a virtual soft key to even bring up the keyboard before I
could even start trying to find the numbers.

mm perhaps we should either start a new thread or take this off list, as
I suppose it is going way off topic for android, and also we don't want
to annoy the mods, what do you think?
