Re: [Audyssey] semi patch to the infocom collection

2012-12-01 Thread shaun everiss

thats no problem.
although infocom doc project has the data for stationfall the time in
winfrotz latest jumps by 5-10 points a time so almost every time I
check my watch the time is different, so what I enter doesn't work anyway.

I don't think these games are deprotected though.
infodoc.plover.net is where I pulled things from you may want to
enhance the archive with that.

Though for those who have got the archive, having patches would rock.
also if all scans could be ocred and placed as text files in the
archive somewhere that would rock.
also unless the pdfs are that important converting them to text as
well would rock though I have balabolka to read them.

Hi Shaun.

Thanks for the upload man, I'll take a look and see what's doing. I
noticed as i prepared to upload my master Infocom archive that some
of the games that should have been DE protected didn't have any info
as to whether they had been. For instance as you say, in Star cross
there is a chart you need to refer to at the very beginning of the
game for the coordinates you need to enter in to the computer to
reach your goal. Also missing is the book of treasures for
Cutthroats which you need to refer to when you're planning your dive
for the sunken treasure, there are two ships it could be and which
ship you'll be diving for is determined at the very beginning of the game.

Anyway, enough said, thanks for the file and I'll let you know if i
find anything else that could enhance the archive.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Re: [Audyssey] infocom collection major bug!

2012-12-01 Thread shaun everiss

Hi ibriham indeed there are patches and unprotected patches zip files.
However there are instructions to get a decription program and other things.
To be honest, it would be better if the files for those patches were
compiled with the patches installed and the patches taken out.
I just looked at the patched version of the games like stationfall,
obviously things were patched but there were not any unprotected
patches, even with the data I have from infodoc, any number I enter
simply doesn't work at all.
In starcross i have all the ums mostly so I can enter the right
numbers, but yeah really unless we have to rely on a statusline that
well can't be read in winfrotz the archive will probably be vary
broken, most of it is playable but not all.
I remember playing station fall on dos and it worked so it may just
be because its a windows interpreter but don't know.
The patch pat files are quite useless to the standard gamer as they
are incripted with an old program and need to be compiled.

Doesn't matter if they are there or not.
We can't use them.
And ofcause
At 10:19 a.m. 30/11/2012 +, you wrote:

Hi Shaun.

I will investigate and get back to you on this, I need to find out
whether the games have been deprotected or not, if not then I will
find accessible alternatives to the problems presented by the
feelies where I can. AMFV has a file describing how it has been
patched as do most of the other games, however the original compiler
of the games decided to include released and patched copies just in
case there were problems with interpreters not accepting the
patches. The Extra Resources folder in the archive contains all the
folders with a couple of exceptions of the Interactive Fiction
Archive's Infocom folder and there is a patches folder in there,
though whether they contain the deprotection patches or information
related to them I've yet to determine but will do so over the weekend.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi all.
I have a major bug to report with the infocom colection ibriham posted.
No the files are not corrupted, but, all the scans are in picture form.
Thats fine, but for games like amfv, stationfall, starcross and
others there are parts that need someone to enter the right numbers
to progress.
I have the starcross ones somewhere but the rest well.
In short I need to know what all the forms and items in the package
bar manuals say, or have the pictures ocred or something.
I suspect I need those.

Re: [Audyssey] Monopoly version 9

2012-12-01 Thread Jim Kitchen

Hi Phil,

I don't know, I put monopoly version 9 out in December of 2008. It did then
and still does list and allow me to choose the board to play. Maybe some new
setting in Windows does not allow a program to explore the folder, or maybe you
held the enter key down too long and chose the default original board. I just
don't know.

Hi Jim,
I just played your Monopoly game for the first time in a long time.
I remember you saying that you had to remove the list of boards from the
game but I thought you planned to add that feature in a future version.

As your board file maker brings up the list, why doesn't the game itself?
I planned to update the New York City board adding the National September 11
Memorial Museum

and the new One World Trade Center building.

Hi,

I have put a new file up on my site.

File name winpoly9.exe File size 705k

The file can be found on my free windows sapi5 text to speech games page.

In Monopoly version 9 the board files now contain things like the tokens,
the currency and other squares on the board. There is also now a separate
monopoly board file maker program that can create a new board file or edit
an existing one.

I suspect I need those.

Re: [Audyssey] chess and alter aeon

2012-12-01 Thread Dennis Towne
Keith,

There's a lot of people who have gone through that area and been able
to do the chess quests, but quite frankly it's not simple. It's
considered a 'very difficult' quest, and most of the people who have
done it sat down and figured out what the boards are supposed to look
like and played with the notation for a while to get it right. Don't
expect to get it overnight, but if you're familiar with chess, you'll
probably be able to do it.

[Audyssey] Alter Aeon December Advent Calendar

2012-12-01 Thread Dennis Towne
For the month of December, players that log in to Alter Aeon will get
a daily 'advent calendar' gift from the gods! There's 13 different
prizes and if you log in every day, you're guaranteed to get at least
one of each. Prizes range from gold to combat points to equipment,
and some of them are pretty powerful or unique.

We'll also be running a year end event starting later in the month,
and the 18th anniversary event in the middle of January. I'll post
more on those as we get closer to them.

Happy holidays!

yeah the archive is mostly good the pdfs I can get round but the
scans are all jpgs and useless.
Also unless I have winfrotz set wrong time is jumping foreward by
7-10 cycles in station fall and no number seems to work even with the info.
I havn't done starcross but still.
The fact the archive was not fully converted is a major issue.
In fact some of the games need to be regiggered, true we would loose
some of the playability probably but to be honest the way things are
now yes I can play but um.

For the month of December, players that log in to Alter Aeon will
get
a daily 'advent calendar' gift from the gods! There's 13
different
prizes and if you log in every day, you're guaranteed to get at
least
one of each. Prizes range from gold to combat points to
equipment,

and some of them are pretty powerful or unique.

We'll also be running a year end event starting later in the
month,
and the 18th anniversary event in the middle of January. I'll
post

more on those as we get closer to them.

Happy holidays!

If you get really stuck jayde wrote a completely walkthrough of the quest on

getting the game to accept the commands that seemed the problem for me.

Keith,

There's a lot of people who have gone through that area and been able
to do the chess quests, but quite frankly it's not simple. It's
considered a 'very difficult' quest, and most of the people who have
done it sat down and figured out what the boards are supposed to look
like and played with the notation for a while to get it right. Don't
expect to get it overnight, but if you're familiar with chess, you'll
probably be able to do it.

there's no reason any of the spoonbill games shouldn't! work on 64 bit,
accept that you'll obviously need to use a sapi 5.1 compatible voice to
output the text of the game, but if this is set in your control panel
everything should be fine sinse all the games just use whatever you've set

I don't know if you need the dependencies for vvb6 etc, but if so you can
get those by downloading and running jim's winkit file that installs all the

Hi Dark,

That's correct.
The Spoonbill games do work on Windows 7 64-bit machines provided the
VB 6 libraries are installed and you have something like Microsoft
Anna configured as the default voice. FYI, Windows 7 comes with Sapi
5.4 not 5.1 although that doesn't make much of a difference in this
case.

[Audyssey] infocom archive updates

2012-12-01 Thread shaun everiss

Hi.
Note this zip probably has some stuff that is missing buggy or just
bad I just basically rounded up all the data I had on my hard drive.

Most of this is from the ifarchive or the times ashes collection.
What isn't was either pulled of friend's floppies, pulled of my now
dead 1990 computer, or simply downloaded in the past from the net,
and then probably extracted from programs I used to own.
Note, this does not superseed the infodoc zip file, by rights I
should have put that in there to, but I forgot and anyway that file
is here for now anyway.

This includes john's files to.
All dat files are the origionals I coppied off the program disks that
a friend had in the days when my usb floppy drive still worked.

This is now all I have.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1407689/infocom%20update.zip
I don't know if all this is correct or just a pile of junkey crap,
it probably is, I just bundled it up and looked it so don't kill me
if anything looks out of order.

I have had a reasonably busy schedual so I am only passing through as it were.
enjoy or something.
The stationfall dat file was the one I origonally played on dos 6.22
in 1995 so who knows.

2012-12-01 Thread shaun everiss

Hi ibriham and all.
After testing the files out it seems that the stationfall patched
file has issues, I am assuming that all patch zcode games will also
have issues.
Right now the origional game and the game that has just the release
number in the title works but I am assuming anything with patched
doesn't work or at least doesn't work as it should.
So if you can get all the data to enter most of the stuff will
worked however obviously unpatched.

You will just press down arrow twice for upgrade in the Japaneese version.
A UAC dialog will pop up, which you must answer yes to. Once you have
done so, the game will update to the English version. To access the
English version, press e at and startup music (not the main menu, the very
first thing you here, that is where you press e).

HTH.

Essentially you just keep pressing enter once you have the set up open.
Twice, I think to be exact... and then follow the instructions hunter gave.
Though if you have the latest setup it should already be in English. The
game, that is. At least, as much of it that's been translated.

Hi guys. What are the necessary events to complete stage 7-1. Must all
enemies be killed and all items be gathered, or is it a type of survivor
man type thing where you last for a set time limit before you pass?

clicks okay for you. The rest is a browse button and okay and

The translations are slow, but coming. Yukio himself isn't translating...
there's a combination of people who speak Japanese aka me and one other
person, then there's a lot of people who are using google translate to get
messy translations which basically give the gist. As for stage 7-3... you
need to blast the fish, and avoid the rocks. That's all I can tell you. You
just have to be careful.

Hi hunter.

no need to run google searches for stuff in the audiogames.net db. Firstly,
you can quickly go to any game page by using the dropdown at the bottom of
the page and hitting go.

Secondly, the search archive function will let you search the entire db,
either by key word, or by displaying games by developer, license type, or
genre, which is great if your interested in one sort of game, say rpgs.

hth.

Hi Mike.

the manual to the game can be found in it's program group. It's a pdf, but
converts to text fine, however if you don't have adoby reader or want to go
to the trouble of tangling with pdfs I can send you a converted text copy of
it.

the manual however is intended on how to play the game, not as a help guide.

The guide I think your thinking of is one niels is in the process of
writing. he's sent out a few beta versions of chapters, but nothing solid
has immerged yet.

I suggest if your interested in the old beta ersions you contact him.

Hello david.

I don't know what you mean by more accessible than the other smugglers
games sinse all the smugglers games are pretty accessible anyway if you use
your screen readers' virtual curser.

As to where to get it, http://www.nielsbauergames.com/index.html is the
developers' website.

just remember to go into the game settings and turn on blind compatibility
mode before you start, and everything should be labled.
