tell me where I can download it? I searched the audio games site and
couldn't find it there.

You will just press down arrow twice for upgrade in the Japaneese version.
A UAC dialog will pop up, which you must answer "yes"
to. Once you have done so, the game will update to the English version.
To
access the English version, press e at and startup music (not the main
menu,

the very first thing you here, that is where you press e).
HTH.

Re: [Audyssey] smugglers 5 help

2012-12-02 Thread dark
Well tecnically space in supernova's virtual curser does whatever the
control requires, however sinse s5 doesn't have any recognizeable controls,
it defaults to single left clicks which is why you need to use more specific
commands as single clicking on planets and double clicking makes a
difference, though for most of the rest of the game space works fine,
or alternatively you can just hit space to click a planet and then go down
and hit the "travel to this location" button at the bottom (it'll be labled
if compatibility mode is on).

using delete to right click on things also is a good idea in many places in
the game too.

I don't really mind the game not saving settings, sinse turning it on only
takes a second. It's mildly inconvenient, but not really anything to worry
about.

Beware the grue!

Aah so hitting space on something doesn't double click.
Its a shame that settings are not saved when starting a game.

with s4 and s5 however it sounds as if your not activating blind
compatibility mode in the options when you start the game. You need to do
this each and very time you start, it will not remember the setting from
game to game. After this, options for docking with planets and traveling
to locations appear labled.

Also, note you can travel around very quickly by double clicking each
planet as opposed to single click. I suggest using the left double click
at curse position, aka letter q.

i would also advise hitting ctrl 1 when you start the game and activate
virtual focus (or dolphin curser as it is now), sinse then it will be
locked into dolphin curser and not come out of it when you click on
things.

yeah the archive is mostly good the pdfs I can get round but the

Also unless I have winfrotz set wrong time is jumping foreward by
7-10 cycles in station fall and no number seems to work even with the info.
I havn't done starcross but still.
The fact the archive was not fully converted is a major issue.
In fact some of the games need to be regiggered, true we would loose
some of the playability probably but to be honest the way things are
now yes I can play but um.

in s5 and s4 I can sometimes find artifacts, pods and treasure but

Most of this is from the ifarchive or the times ashes collection.
What isn't was either pulled of friend's floppies, pulled of my
now
dead 1990 computer, or simply downloaded in the past from the
net,

and then probably extracted from programs I used to own.
Note, this does not superseed the infodoc zip file, by rights I
should have put that in there to, but I forgot and anyway that
file

is here for now anyway.
This includes john's files to.
All dat files are the origionals I coppied off the program disks
that

a friend had in the days when my usb floppy drive still worked.
This is now all I have.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1407689/infocom%20update.zip
I don't know if all this is correct or just a pile of junkey
crap,
it probably is, I just bundled it up and looked it so don't kill
me

if anything looks out of order.
I have had a reasonably busy schedual so I am only passing
through as it were.

enjoy or something.
The stationfall dat file was the one I origonally played on dos

in 1995 so who knows.

Hi Shaun.

Sorry I haven't got back to you on this yet, I've had a major system crash
so decided to do a full system recovery and reinstall all my software etc.,
I will look in to this as soon as I can, however might I suggest you try
Stationfall with Filfre to see if you get the same problem?

then I get the numbers I need, then type time again and the time has

Thats fine but I can't seem to get things to match up.

yeah the archive is mostly good the pdfs I can get round but the
scans are all jpgs and useless.

Re: [Audyssey] smugglers 5 help

2012-12-02 Thread dark

Hi david.

s5 has basically the same interface and very similar gameplay to s4, but
with a huge amount of stuff added, especially lots of random and story type
events that keep the game interesting and replayable.

Combat has had a major upgrade from s4, and is now much more difficult and
strategical, with far more usefull special abilities and need to plan
ahead. One nice addition to combat that I particularly like are random
events, for instance you might find the enemy attacking you at long range
and need to spend action points closing the distance, or be affected by a
nasty computer virus. You might wind up fighting in an asteroid field where
both you and the enemy take damage, or On the other hand, you could end up
cracking your opponent's shield frequency and making your own missiles
super effective.

Each planet now has a story sequence that you can engage in, which makes
each planet a distinct place to visit. Traders can now own factories and
store houses, pirates can create their own empire, and as with s3, you can
even marry a governer if you are female or his daughter if you are male.
There are also many dsmaller changes, for instance now crew combat talking
to other ships over the radio or spending time in the bar can give you
information about the system, and bounty hunters can destroy pirate
hideouts.

All in all it's a massive upgrade and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

As far as screen readers go, from what I know, Window eyes works as well as
Hal, and Jaws will also work without trouble once you set some configuration
options, (something to do with graphics, but not being a jaws user i'm not
sure).

The one problematic one is nvda, sinse it just doesn't have quite as
complete a virtual curser as yet. some people have managed to play smugglers
with it, but I believe it takes a lot of tinkering.

Beware the grue!

Dark.

Re: [Audyssey] Monopoly version 9

2012-12-02 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Jim,

The only thing I can come up with to account for this behavior would
be Microsoft User Account Control. Beginning with Vista onwards
Microsoft has changed the security restrictions on certain directories
such as C:\Program Files and while the option to explore directories
still exists it may not let you do it as a standard user. There are
two possible solutions for this problem. One, Phil can turn off User
Account Control in the Control Panel. Two, he can reinstall all of
your games in a local directory such as C:\Users\Phil\Games which he
has full user permissions to access. Either way he needs to bypass UAC
if he wants the games to work as your games don't meet current design
standards for Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

Cheers!

Hi Jim,
I just played your Monopoly game for the first time in a long time.
I remember you saying that you had to remove the list of boards from the
game but I thought you planned to add that feature in a future version.
As your board file maker brings up the list, why doesn't the game itself?
I planned to update the New York City board adding the National September 11

Memorial & Museum
and the new One World Trade Center building.

Well, the best thing to do is to hit it with a few quick strikes before it
attacks you then dash away from it. And since it's in the air, you have to
jump to hit it. That's more or less all there is to it... whatever weapon
you choose doesn't really matter. I recomend something that has longer range
but less damage, yet has more speed. The long sword, would be a good choice,
I think or the long blade.

Re: [Audyssey] Monopoly version 9

2012-12-02 Thread Phil Vlasak

Hi Jim,
In my Vista computer When I started the game it didn't bring up the list of
boards.

I had picked the default as c:\program files
I moved the Kitchensinc folder to
c:\users\Phil\games
and it now works.

One suggestion,
As the tokens right now have no affect on the game how about if you add,
MonopolyToken1.wav to MonopolyToken16.wav to the game to represent the sound
that each token makes when walking around the board.

It would give the tokens a reason for being in the game.
Of course the token sounds would be those of the default ones.
But if you wanted to add a jet plane as token1 you could then replace the
battleship sound with that of a jet plane sound.

You could still keep the MonopolyToken0.wav as the current walking sound.

some new setting in Windows does not allow a program to explore the
folder, or maybe you held the enter key down too long and chose the
default original board. I just don't know.

Hi Jim,
I just played your Monopoly game for the first time in a long time.
I remember you saying that you had to remove the list of boards from the
game but I thought you planned to add that feature in a future version.

As your board file maker brings up the list, why doesn't the game itself?
I planned to update the New York City board adding the National September
11 Memorial & Museum

and the new One World Trade Center building.

Subject: [Audyssey] Monopoly version 9

Hi,

I have put a new file up on my site.

File name winpoly9.exe File size 705k

The file can be found on my free windows sapi5 text to speech games page.

In Monopoly version 9 the board files now contain things like the tokens,
the currency and other squares on the board. There is also now a
separate monopoly board file maker program that can create a new board
file or edit an existing one.

Re: [Audyssey] smugglers 5 help

2012-12-02 Thread dark
Extremeley! the dolphin curser navigates and clicks on everything quite
flawlessly, and though there aren't any standard controls, you can still use
various movement commands to get around the screen quickly, particularly
ctrl down arrow or the use of the read line command to read information in
columns.

the only thing to do is when you start the game, go into the dolphin curser
and hit ctrl 1 to activate focus lock which will prevent dolphin curser from
stopping when you click on things (sinse you will need it on all the time).

Hal has always worked very well with the smugglers games right from s3, and
s5 is no exception which is another reason I'd highly recommend the series.

2012-12-02 Thread Jess Varnell
Hi list. Did I get this right? Is music puzzle going to be released on the
fourth? Just checking. One more question for shard. How many pieces can you
break the song into on the full version? Thanks much.

Re: [Audyssey] smugglers 5 help

2012-12-02 Thread shaun everiss

hmmm
www.neilsbauergames.com
or the audiogames.net news section post is titled shiver me lasers.
To be honest I am not impressed really.
Ok, in smuglers 4 and 5.
Select my info.
Select things.
I try to travel, I hit space on a planet but no status update on
exactly how long to get there and although after a lot of button
bashing I can sometimes get pods and artifacts and the ocational
treasure I have no idea where to go and what to do even with
compatability mode on.
In smuglers 1 I can do everything on the main planet but I can't
shift to any other planet only get info.
After hearing all the things people told me about the games I was
itching to buy part of a christmas present.
There are manuals in pdf and in game tutorials but hmmm navigation is
just that interesting.
I have to use my vertual curser all the time and buttons can be in
the middle or bottem of the screen.

Otherwise I can play sm5 ok ish but not really.

There was a misunderstanding here. I looked up a guide to Smugglers 5 on
Google. I found the game in the DB.
