Re: [Audyssey] What I Need Redux
Hi Kim. Firstly, what client are you using? with Vipmud, you can be sure the description got through, secondly, does the mud give any messages when you in put your description? In a game like inquisition that is very heavy on role playing, I believe descriptions or data need to be submitted to the admins of the game to check, it is entirely possible this is not working. Regarding syntax, most muds have pretty good guides, indeed I know the inquisition does since I've read over the help files (though since online rp isn't really my thing I decided against playing). One simple question, are you writing your description from the point of view of another character seeing you? that is often an issue that comes up. For example if you wrote she has blue eyes and long dark hair, and she usually wears aa silver neclace that would not do since if another character looked at you they'd see something like jane she has blue eyes etc. That is a common problem, you need to write descriptions from the perspective of someone seeing your character to fit with the syntax of the game, not as an omniscient author. Also, with a game like inquisition you may need to submit your description and character idea for admin aproval, then wait for an E-mail confermation before you can play, though again not having tried the game I need some more information. All the best, dark. - Original Message - From: Kim Friedman kimfr...@verizon.net To: gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Monday, September 02, 2013 9:11 PM Subject: [Audyssey] What I Need Redux Hi Dark, I do understand that a Mud client involves something like a browser and one should know how to connect to it. Here's a situation: 1. I'm connected to the mud; 2. I write down a command so my character will do something; 3. Does that command actually go to the Mud in actual game play? There is this Mud I'd like to play called The Inquisition: Legacy and I wish to write down a description for my character but as far as I can see, it isn't sent to the Mud. Also I think I have what might be called syntax problems. O I can write directions to travel, but actually editing long stuff like descriptions and such or knowing how to get a satisfactory result from a command is a hit-or-miss prospect. It's rather like the Circumlocution Office in Charles Dickens' Little Dorrit, where the hapless person finds him/herself going round in circles, ergo, going nowhere for the foreseeable future. Re: [Audyssey] 64 bit windows and tts
Hi David, The only realspeak voices that work independently from JAWS are from the JAWS 8 CD, not the ones from newer versions of JAWS which can be downloaded from their site. Those realspeak voices are tied to JAWS only. I purchased several SAPI voices from www.Nextup .com for as low as $7 US per voice, but they usually cost $30 to $40 a voice. Be careful as Nextup also has voices you can purchase that work only with their software, Text Aloud. Re: [Audyssey] 64 bit windows and tts
Hello Dave, Part of the problem is when you access the Sapi speech configuration from the Windows 7 Control Panel is its using the 64-bit voices configuration. You need to bring up the older 32-bit configuration by entering this command into the run dialog C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Speech\SpeechUX\sapi.cpl and then you should be able to set any 32-bit voices you have as your system default. However, the Realspeak voices may not show up if you are using the versions specifically proprietary to Jaws. Those do not have Sapi compatibility and you need to use the versions designed for Jaws 8 for full Sapi compatibility with my patched installer for Windows 7 64-bit machines. I know, it all sounds like a pain in the butt. However, that is what we get for upgrading to newer 64-bit operating systems. The only other option is to spend a little money to get some good 64-bit voices such as those from Ivona which are truly amazing and don't have this problem. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] Warning! virus on audiogames.net website
Hi James, Yeah, it was available in most stores back in the late 90's.Best Buy, Comp U.S.A., Electronics Boutique, etc all carried it as well as department stores like Walmart had it. However, for some reason it didn't last too long. I think Microsoft, shall we call them Microshaft, probably put an end to the Winblows software by threatening to sue them into the ground like they always do with anyone and anything that remotely borrows the Windows trademark. For example, a few years ago a developer came up with a novel idea of merging Windows and Linux into the same operating system and called it Lindows. They took Linux as the core OS but wrote a custom Windows emulator on top so it would run Windows flagship applications like Office, Internet Explorer, etc on top of Linux. Plus the desktop looked a lot like MS Windows too. Of course, the idea was probably too good. Microsoft and their lawyers descended on them like a pack of lions and sued Lindows into the stone age. long with them having to change their name to Linspire certain elements that made the OS attractive to a Windows user such as the Windows look and feel had to be scrapped in order to comply with copyright law. However, I digress. Anyway, I am not sure what happend to the Winblows games, desktop themes, etc but I am pretty sure Microsoft shut them down. Although, it was funny while it lasted. LOL. Cheers! [Audyssey] Yoda speaks in your game.
Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try. Much to learn you still have, Luke. Just the beginning This is. You can now get Yoda to speak in your game. This is not a free to use SAPI voice but an on-line site where you can purchase the output of words typed into an edit box. Acapela Box charges by the character, but you can use the recording any way you wish. You purchase package from 500 Euros to 5 Euros depending on how many characters you want spoken. For example, The b-30 packad is 30 Euros, $39.75 The b-5 is 5 Euros $6.62 Let's say that you start by purchasing a b-5 package. After the purchase you will have 715 credits on your account. Let's assume that you do not use TAGS or Pronunciation Editor, so that the number of credits required to convert a text is exactly the same as the number of characters in the text. At this point you type text that is 110 characters long, listen to it and then download it as a sound file. The cost for downloading this file is 110 credits, so after the download 110 credits will be subtracted from your account. You will then have 605 credits left on your account. You can use the expressive American English Will voice of Acapela Will little creature which sounds like Yoda. Will as an old man, a bad guy, yelling from far away, whispering up close, normal happy or sad. Acapela Box: http://www.acapela-box.com/ Acapela Text to Speech demo: http://www.acapela-group.com/text-to-speech-interactive-demo.html You can purchase the Will voice for $50 for use only in NextUp's Text alowd. http://www.nextup.com --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] Warning! virus on audiogames.net website
Hello yeah it figers. well it sounded like a good idea oh well. bfn James -- From: Thomas Ward thomasward1...@gmail.com Sent: Tuesday, September 03, 2013 6:24 AM To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Warning! virus on audiogames.net website Hi James, Yeah, it was available in most stores back in the late 90's.Best Buy, Comp U.S.A., Electronics Boutique, etc all carried it as well as department stores like Walmart had it. LOL. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] Lords and Knights map and reports
As for the map, if scrolling and touching aren't enough, that's all anyone has. Sighted folks don't get a distance reading either. I suggest using the Send Resources or Support options when you tap a castle to get a direct time reading. As for the alliance, castle, and player links, double tap and hold to activate them. I can go up, down, left, and right with three-finger swipes, but am having a hard time figuring out distances. My alliance is a bit away from me and I am trying to figure out just how many fields. Additionally, I get report and castle links in my alliance, but it all just looks like a few digits plus a series of numbers. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to read these?
