Re: [Audyssey] a very exciting new board for jim's monopoly game

2014-06-21 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Charles,

Yes, Nicol is talking about Kentucky Fried Chicken, AKA KFC, and for
whatever reason he shortened it to Kentucky which threw me at first
too. Although, I noticed by viewing the board squares in his Monopoly
board file I am not quite sure what some of the things are. I believe
the Zinger Wings are similar to the Buffalo Wings we have here in the
states. Some of the rest are probably local dinner specials as they
don't sound familiar to me. to be honest I think the board could do a
bit of work coming up with an American version where the railroads,
for instance, are replaced with sides and the properties are replaced
with combo meals or dinners.

Cheers!

Hi all
I made a very exciting board.
Well, I think its very exciting.
The url is:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/l0e35a
I created this board to get over a very unpleasant incident which happened
twice at our local kentucky in hermanus where we live.
A couple of years ago our local kentucky used to sell milk shakes.
I can remember ordering a nice milk shake from them a couple of years ago;
tasting the same as a macdonalds milk shake.
Our kentucky is drive through which means people order at the first
window

and collect their food at the next window.
So a couple of months ago I wanted to buy a milk shake.
So we stopped at the first window and kindly asked for a chocolate milk
shake.
The woman who served us was so, so unprofessional.
First she shouted at her colleagues asking if they sell milk shakes.
She was suppose to do her home work and know beforehand if kentucky sell
milk shakes or not.
Then we got this very abrupt answer
NO milk shakes.
So we asked what is going on, is their machine broken or what?
But we again got the same unprofessional answer: no milk shakes.
The same thing happened a few weeks ago.
All they had that was slightly close to a milk shake is this chocolate
crusher shake.
Its soft serve ice cream with chocolate pieces but its not close to the
milk

shakes I can remember from our local kentucky a couple years ago
So I made this new board, where I daydream about a milk shake ocean and
other stuff.
Its bad that we got such an unprofessional response but I get over it by
playing this board.
So here is what the different squares means:
The red squares are, uhm, quite self explanatory.
Mister and misses chicken are fictitious squares.
Mister chicken is an extraordinary chicken thigh and miss chicken an
extraordinary drum stick.
I'm not going to name every square here.
The squares I don't mention in this message are plain fictitious.
Streetwise 2, 4 and 6 are different boxmeals that are sold at our local
kentucky with 2, 4 and 6 pieces chicken respectively.
abba me daddy
you are my hero daddy
and golden family time
these squares I named after I heard a kentucky advert on the radio.
When families at kentucky branches in south africa order the family treat
box meal, some of them carry their children on their backs.
IN south africa, when a dad carries his child he abba his child.
And some children call their dads heroes.
This I heard in this radio advert.
And the phrase golden family time is also used in this advert.
The mash potatoes square is there because kentucky branches in south
africa

include mash potatoes with some box meals.
The power tower box meal is a massive box meal sold in south african
kentuckies.
man versus the world: this square I got from a kentucky tv advert where
they

advertise The power tower box meal
they use the words: man versus the world during this advert.
A chicken rounder is a chicken burger in south african kentuckies
zinger wings are chicken wings with chilly flavouring added in south
african kentuckies.
an ice cream cone with a flake
an ice cream cone without a flake
because our local kentucky in hermanus sells cones with ice cream.
Cole slaw is the south african term for a cabbage sallad, included with
some

box meals.
At our local kentucky, clients can donate two rand for the hungry kids
together with their order.
In other words if I buy an ice cream cone which costs 6 rand and I donate
two rand for hungry kids then I pay 8 rand in total at the next window
Thus the names for The hungry kids cards and the hungry kids fund tax
Jim, I am busy with some new trivia files.
I will send them to you together with this board as soon as I finished
them.

Valiant Galaxy Associates is proud to announce the release of our first

game. While we were waiting to get all the bugs worked out of our
first

commercial game, Interceptor (coming soon), we decided to devise a
simple trading game. That game is here and called Traders of Known
Space. The year is 3051 and the human federations of planets are at
war

with aliens known as the grays, but even during a war, commerce
continues. You are commander of an independent merchant ship that must
make your way in these uncertain times. Buy goods cheap, sell goods at
a
premium, upgrade your ship, gather information, fight space battles,
and

avoid hazards. The game uses a map mode for navigating between
planets, and a menu mode for performing actions in the game. It can be
played with relatively few keyboarding skills. The game is completely
self-
voicing and requires no special equipment or software to play. You can
find

Traders of Known Space at
http://www.valiantGalaxy.com
under
downloads. Documentation is available from inside the game as well as
on

the web site under games, then Traders of Known Space, then click here
for documentation. Good luck, and we hope you enjoy the game. For

Your welcome Jeremy.

smugglers is an awsome game, but as I said very different from Traders of
known space, and not just because Smugglers is a massively complex beast,
the core mechanics and ideas behind the games are very different.

Thomas has our company site on moderated status still, so another

to Smugglers as well. I only became aware of the existence of
Smugglers about two weeks into our design process for TKS. I've never
played it, but it sounds intensely interesting. Take care,

In windows xp (and I believe 7), it's in the control panel under display,
all you need to do is select the resolution in the list box and hit enter.

As I said 800 x 600, or 1024 x 768 are sort of the normal ones. It is
entirely possible your resolution is quite okay, I just wondered sinse
someone who was having trouble with the smugglers display and Nvda turned
out to be having that problem and I have known text get chopped off if the
resolution gets set wrong.

Hi Bryan,

No. All modern Windows programs are able to be maximized, minimized,
or stretched to fill the screen depending on your screen resolution.
So changing the resolution would only make the Windows bigger or
smaller to a sighted user, and thus allows them to see more or less of
the active window.

Cheers!

Hi Bryan,

No. All modern Windows programs are able to be maximized, minimized,
or stretched to fill the screen depending on your screen resolution.
So changing the resolution would only make the Windows bigger or
smaller to a sighted user, and thus allows them to see more or less of
the active window.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] New game, traders of known space

2014-06-21 Thread dark

I just knew when I mentioned this game someone would bring up smugglers :D.

Nope, this is miles different to smugglers, partly because it is a much
simpler game, but mostly because it's hole idea is different. IN smugglers
the trading works by knowing all the prices of a system or indeed multiple
systems and flying around. In Traders of Known space trading works by
physically going to different planets to find their prices, occasionally
with information.

In smugglers you could fly around with no penalty, in TRaders of known space
you need fuel. In smugglers you had 25 star systems (or 31 in s5 invasion),
with roughly 150 planets to fly to, in traders your playing on a 10 x 10
grid, mapping out each move carefully.

Combat is also miles different. Really, while both games are space trading
games, they don't have much in common, which is of course a good thing,
sinse much as I think smugglers is an awsome game it's always nice to try
out something else.

Beware the grue!

[Audyssey] New game, traders of known space

2014-06-21 Thread dark
Hi.

Valiant galaxy associates (who we've had on this list previously), have just
bought out their first audio game. I actually would've expected Jeremy, one of
the Vga developers to announce it here, sinse he has been on list, but as he
obviously hadn't I'll c&p the announcement about the new game with the links.

Valiant Galaxy Associates is proud to announce the release of our first free
game. While we were waiting to get all the bugs worked out of our first
commercial game, Interceptor (coming soon), we decided to devise a
simple trading game. That game is here and called Traders of Known
Space. The year is 3051 and the human federations of planets are at war
with aliens known as the grays, but even during a war, commerce
continues. You are commander of an independent merchant ship that must
make your way in these uncertain times. Buy goods cheap, sell goods at a
premium, upgrade your ship, gather information, fight space battles, and
avoid hazards. The game uses a map mode for navigating between
planets, and a menu mode for performing actions in the game. It can be
played with relatively few keyboarding skills. The game is completely self-
voicing and requires no special equipment or software to play. You can find
Traders of Known Space at
http://www.valiantGalaxy.com
 under
downloads. Documentation is available from inside the game as well as on
the web site under games, then Traders of Known Space, then click here
for documentation. Good luck, and we hope you enjoy the game. For
questions, complaints, hate mail, bug reports, personal invitations, etc,
