Agreed. Audyssey works fine - leave it as is. You have available offers if
you really need space for the archives.

Honestly, I wouldn't mess with it. What we're doing now works fine.
If we switch the list to something else, it'll just mean that we lose
half of the list participants, and the people who remain will have to
figure out brand new bugs and problems with the new service.

Don't try to fix what isn't broken.

Sam and Walter both have forgotten the face of their fathers. If it isn't

support is second to none.

Honestly, I wouldn't mess with it. What we're doing now works fine.
If we switch the list to something else, it'll just mean that we lose
half of the list participants, and the people who remain will have to
figure out brand new bugs and problems with the new service.

Don't try to fix what isn't broken.

Well that really sucks! I am sorry, Lori. I thought that Sam was more
sensible, but it is clear that he is not. Well I did think this game
was okay; I don't use mac so I didn't care that it was only on
Windows, but I shall not be party to a game where good people whom I
consider friends are being mistreated, and no lawful, just action is
being taken! For that is not honour. Sam is young yet though, and I do
hope that he grows the frack up and sees what a chameleon his supposed
friend is! And i don't know you well, Lori, but you are a good friend

Re: [Audyssey] Getting into programming

2016-03-12 Thread jacob Kruger
You can, since it has the option to set the compiler/interpreter, based
on the language you tell it you are working in, which then also allows
you to make use of different collections of code snippets, but, I don't
do this - I run python code from console myself, so that I can then
review any output - use that to handle forms of pseudo-debugging at
times as well.

There are also some other options in it relating to how it handles
running the interpreter, etc. - and, remember, python itself doesn't
really have a compiler built into it, so you generally use third
party/external modules to generate executables, which are essentially
interpreter-wrappers, and, I have used different ones for different
pieces of code, due to some of them having issues with including some
other modules in the wrapper content - especially if want to go for
single-file .exe instead of just collecting all the necessary files into
one location that would then need to be distributed along with the then
smaller executable file.

Also, to compile for platforms other than windows, I think you need to
run that part of the process on the relevant platform itself - maybe
inside a virtual version, but, still.

btw, I keep trying to forward the choiceofgames e-mails to the list

the Clockwork Army

P.S. Try "Our Hidden Gems" bundle for iOS!
We recently announced that a few of
our highest rated games are available in a bundle
for iOS.
All of our "hidden gems" have earned a 4.5-star rating or better, which
tells us

that people who bought them were glad they did.

Re: [Audyssey] A warning to all who play survive the wild.

Wow, that's horrible. I've not been bullied that much in life, but I've gone
through a few relationships where I was just used, so I sort of know how it
feels.

Re: [Audyssey] A warning to all who play survive the wild.

2016-03-12 Thread Allison Passino
Well that really sucks! I am sorry, Lori. I thought that Sam was more
sensible, but it is clear that he is not. Well I did think this game
was okay; I don't use mac so I didn't care that it was only on
Windows, but I shall not be party to a game where good people whom I
consider friends are being mistreated, and no lawful, just action is
being taken! For that is not honour. Sam is young yet though, and I do
hope that he grows the frack up and sees what a chameleon his supposed
friend is! And i don't know you well, Lori, but you are a good friend
of Bryan Peterson who was my ex, so any good friend of Bryan's is a
good friend of mine! Bryan's good people! smile Sorry for the off
topic Dark, just wanted Lori to know that I too, am on her side. Both
Sam and Walter's conduct is, in my opinion, untenable! And I am
officially mad, now.

So, I use this software to write my code and have the Python
compiler/other associated programs installed? Once I get a piece of
code ready for testing, I can run the compiler from Ed Sharp? Is this
how this works?

I really think it comes down to personal preference and what you feel
comfortable learning. Imyself have as yet produced nothing but I've managed
to accomplish more with BGT than I ever did with the other options I looked
into. With BGT all you basically have to do is tell it what you want it to
do and when and where the various music, sound and speech files are located
while the engine handles all the behind the scenes stuff.

Hi Justin,

Yes bgt is designed for people to make audio games or programs so works
perfectly with jaws. I agree totally with you about the lack of RPG
games,

before I lost my sight I was a huge Final fantasy fan, the last one I got
to
play before I lost my sight was final fantasy 10, it's such a shame these
games aren't more accessible as I'd love to play them again or some of the
new ones. Although it is for this reason I started to learn BGT as I
wanted
to write my own RPG, and through learning BGT have started to build my own
little RPG, it's only a couple of levels at the moment and I don't think
it

will ever be some amazing audio game (but that's more down to my lack of
imagination when it comes to building storylines, but hoping I can get a
friend who writes to help out on that front), but it shows it can be done
and all with no previous programming knowledge and just using BGT, but I
think with enough determination and imagination it can be done. As for the
character sheets you are talking about I've never done actual role play
/D

and D so not really too sure exactly what these are or what they would
contain, so not 100% sure if you could build what you wanted with BGT ,
but I don't see why not. There is a BGT forum which has some really
helpful

people all with a lot more experience than me in programming with BGT, if
you say what you're trying to build with the character sheets I'm sure
people would let you know if it's achievable. BGT is free to download
too,

, I recommend downloading it and taking a look, then reading the help
manual it's got a tutorial section which has an introduction page, then
a
page on learning the language which is explained really really well
and

then some example games you can write

Does BGT play well with JAWS? If so, how much is involved in making it
play well? Finally, is BGT only for game development?

I figured that I had better start with a more reasonable goal, i.e.
trying to learn enough on how to code to try and write a character
sheet creator. If I can learn the knack of coding, then that would be,
I think, a first good attempt at a real project.

Down the road, as I indicated in my original post, I would want to try
to create a role-playing game. It frustrates me that sighted users
have a multitude of role-playing games that they can play, e.g.
Pillars of Eternity, Skyrim and so on, but we cannot. I have played
some mainstream role-playing games (it takes some work, but I can
manage) and that is why I wish to try and learn how to code. Put
differently, I can complain about the lack of games, or try and learn
how to code and write one. Even if I fail, i.e. I cannot learn the
knack of coding, then I can say that I made the attempt.

Hi Paul.

Neither will be a huge affair sinse neither the future mrs. Dark nor me is
exactly an extravert, but we do want to do fun things, (perhaps go down the

The hard part at the moment is the legality of trying to marry an American,
but we'll do it.

On an emotional front my lady's sister actually started referring to me as
her husband in December, actually before we got engaged and bought the
rings, it's just having the ceremony and signing the paper work.

All the best,

Re: [Audyssey] The last messages from Thomas Ward

2016-03-12 Thread Jack Falejjczyk
Ok, I'm back. Haven't been on here for a long time, but just found out
the Tom Ward has passed away. Sad new in deed. Tom was a great game
developer, and were it not for his health I'm pretty sure he would've
very well been able to finish them. Also, he was an activate member of
the open source community of linux users, and he's actually the reason
I went ahead and tried ubuntu. As for William's comment about the
money spent for these games, might I remind you that whether the games
were finished or not, the money spent for them went into supporting a
game that could've very well been finished. Had Tom been still living,
there'd be two possibilities. The games would've gotten finished, or
if Tom had to close usa games, either the last build of the games
would be distributed, or refunds would be issued, whatever Tom wanted
to do. Either way I can't see how you can look at this news and say
where's my money, that's probably the most selfish reaction I've
heard. I didn't pay for any of the games since I wasn't made aware of
audio games till 2009, thus not around when preorders were taken. But
even if I did pay for them, I wouldn't regret it in the slightest,
even knowing that the games now are in the air as far as completion is
concerned. So rest in peace Tom, and hopefully someone somewhere can
pick up where he left off, and even if someone can't, we can at least
pick up his legacy by making more games in general, and even making
some for linux since that is not only something Tom would've wanted to
do, but would be a revolution for linux users looking for games.
best regards
Jack

Re: [Audyssey] Getting into programming

2016-03-12 Thread Paul Lemm
Hi,

I'd love to see something like this become available , as it would allow
even people with no real programing knowledge to create their own RPG
games. Hopefully if entombed 2 has the dungeon creator it will be a small
step towards people being able to make their own games.

What I think would be awesome is a blindy version of the Aurora
Toolset that was released with the original Never Winter Nights
computer game (God, was that really released, when? 2001? 2002?).
Never Winter Nights, for those of you who do not know, was a computer
role-playing game released by Bioware that used the 3rd edition
Dungeons and Dragons rules. The single-player campaign was rather
dull, actually, but it was meant more to be a sort of showcase for
what the user could do. Bioware released identical development tools
for the customer to create their own Dungeons and Dragons
adventures/campaigns. The beauty of Aurora (that was the name of both
the game engine and the toolset) was its ease of use. To this day, I
think that is the most user-friendly development kit I have ever seen
for a computer game.

Which mud is this?

No, Never Winter Nights is not accessible as you need working eyes to
create the maps for each area. You also need eyes to create custom
equipment and the like.

As I said, it would be nice if there was a similar set of dev tools
that would do something similar.

It's been a really bad situation, not tjust what has gone on on survive the
wild, but off it, and frankly I banned Walter from the audiogames.net forum
because the guy is dangerous (I've had pms from several people detailing
some pretty nasty stuff he's done).

Usually we wouldn't involve the forum in this sort of thing but this was an
issue of safety, I'm just sorry Sam can't see the bigger picture, but there
you go, not everyone is equal and that's why moderation is needed.

All the best,

Hi, yes I agree with that whole-heartedly, and at least people are
forewarned now and know what to look out for. I was bullied when I was
about 12 years old at a school for the blind, and this girl was like walter
and used emotional blackmail a lot, and like now the staff took the bullie's
side because they said she had issues. Thankfully though I got out of that
school and was much happier back home.

Well, good riddance, and it's good that Sam took the responsibility

Hi Dark, anyone who flames you should be ashamed of themselves, and I'm
praying I haven't caused you too much stress over this. It just got too
much for me to handle alone, and I was sick of the sleepless nights and
 feeling threatened all the time.

Just to let people know, I have had a couple of people disclose the
 details
 of Walter's actions in confidence.
I've banned him from audiogames.net, sinse the guy is actively dangerous

a criminal way (I'll be getting flamed for this but hay, such is a mods
 job
and members need to be safe).

 All the best,

 Dark.
