Definitely. There are enough sound effects in the game to allow that. I
can't wait till the release of Armageddon. it'll allow you to customize
fatalities. that'll rock.

Subject: [Audyssey] New Blind Adrenaline game survey

  Booga booga kids,
As I wind down the beta programming for Rail Racer, I am considering
gathering resources for the next release from Blind Adrenaline. Here
are the three games I am considering at this point:
1. Kickboxer - A fighting game where two players meet over the
internet to
beat each others brains out. Like rail racer, this game allows use of
the
mouse or joystick to input various combinations against your opponent.
For
instance to pull off a roundhouse kick, you may need to move your
controller
left, then right and hit the second button. There will be lots of
combos
like this that willl need to be mastered to be an effective fighter.

2. Head to Head football - A football simulation allowing two players to
go
at it on the gridiron. This also will be internet ready, and will
include
season results posted to the web, so we can hold tournaments and the
like.
Besides a full playlist to simulate coaching, I plan on including the
ability to control individual players to some extent during a play.
The way I envision it, folks can set up their own leagues, and play an

entire season of NFL football, with any teams not claimed by humans
being
played by the computer.

3. Gunship - A helicopter fighting simulation modeled after the Apache
A64
attack helicopter. The Apache is currently the baddest helicopter on
the
planet, capable of holding a large amount of various missiles for tank
killing, troop slaying, and target bombing. In addition the Apache has
one
of the most advanced targeting systems known to man with the TADS
system,
and all of this will be integrated into the simulation, along with the
fearsome chain gun mounted on the front of the chopper.

I am curious what players out there are most interested in of these
three
games.
The games are pretty much listed in ascending order of complexity, and

therefore development time, with Gunship being far more complex than the

other two games. If I go with Gunship, you can expect an extended wait
on
the release of the simulation, as I used to be a hard core flight
simulation
player when I could see, and I plan on bringing a high level of
intensity to
this game.
Please let me know what you think, and which game you would prefer.
  Thanks,
  Che

The best way to find the bomb is to keep moving up floors and to rooms
and you will find it. Make sure automatic radiation announce is on, and
if the radiation gets to 1 or near, you are near to it. If you've
found it it'll say you've found the bomb. Press enter to deactivate it.
If you are playing on expert, it is very, very hard and you have to use
the quick navigation keys to move up, down and along. If you are playing
on easy you can't just go up to every floor. Each floor the radiation
level increases variably, however you know that if the radiation is at
7000 you've got another 10 or 20 floors to go up or down. Then you got
to find the correct room. If you like I shall record an audio tutorial
on it if you'd like. Alternatively you can go to the blindcooltech site
at http://www.blindcooltech.com, or look at the lighttechinteractive
trailers and reviews page at http://www.lighttechinteractive.com
(reviews and trailers link), and download a fully-explained review of
light locator recorded by chris skarstad.

Hope that helps.

from what I know about them. They are virtual pets that you take care of
as
if they were actual real life pets. Example, you have to play with them,

feed them, and buy them things. You have to earn money to be able to buy

them food and toys. I think that is about it, unless these are the ones
that
you can train to do battle with other neo pets, cause there are those
out
there I had one at one time with a sighted friend that we took care of
together, but in my opinion, it was a waiste of time cause the games
were
kinda of boring and pintless. But again, tha tis my opinion, which can
and
can't go very far.

Hi Thomas,
You've certainly got a point here. It brings me along to a project I've
spent some time on, and am contemplating expanding towards a fully
accessible game. Info is as follows: Anyone heard of the console game
called Empire? Empire is a game where you play against up to 5 computer
players. Each starts off with one city on the map. Each city can
produce one type of unit. Units are: Armies which can only move over
land, Fighter planes able to travel over land and sea, and ships of
different purposes, namely Troop Transports, Destroyers, Submarines,
Cruisers, Aircraft Cariers, and Battle Ships. It is a turn by turn game.
Armies can move one block per round, fighters 4, and ships 2.

Armies is the only entities that can concour cities. Once a new city is
concoured, you can assign it to produce whatever you want. It is a war
type stratagy game. All units are displayed on the console window using
character representations. Your units are displayed in capital letters,
and the enemy units are lower case. Further more, each player's units
are colour coded to distinguashe them from each other. Now, I've played
this game a lot using my braille display, but there's a lot of people
who doesn't have something like this, and using your jaws cursor to
interpret the screen is much to cumbersome. So, I whent along and
baught the source code from the original creater of the game, and
started converting it to be more blind friendly. This entailed stuff
like spoken informational messages, like City 1 completed an army, or
enemy fighter destroyed, your destroyer has 2 hits left.

Further more, when prompted to move a piece, the game will automatically
anounce stuff like: Enemy city to the east, Enemy army to the north
east, etc.

Now comes the big question: For me to build in a review system by which
blind players can review the map with the arrows, etc, will take a lot
of work, especially if I build in everything I've thought about so far.
The licence obtained by me when I bought the source code, however,
implied that I can modify the game for my own use, but cannot distribute
it.

Now there seams to me two ways out of this one, namely to go ahead and
hope to keep under the radar, as you said, or to rewrite the game from
the start, using only the concept of the original game to guide me. The
seccond job is obviously much more intricate, and because I'll have to
do this part-time, it will be a long-term project. Now you guys know
how it goes with this stuff, if you get home from work, programming
solutions for other people, you most certainly aren't motivated to spend
the rest of the day at home with the same job, but if a subject interest
you, you sometimes amaze yourself. I wouldn't however do this if there's
no interest in the rest of the VI communaty though, for I can play the
game as is, although certain alterations would make it easier, for
example, an automatic analysis of the map to point you to the greatest
consentration of enemy forces, etc. Constantly reviewing the map with a
braille display is actually verry tyering. Any thoughts on this?
Regards, M.J.

Hi, Shaun.
The distribution of Linux would not matter. All of the stuff kernel,
libraries, etc is typically identical. The only question would be
version matching.
I would suspect Sony would be adding some specialised tools for the
games, and and special libs that would be specific to their console. I
don't get why you would think you would need sound cards, speakers,
and screen readers. It is game console. It hooks up to your tv. The
speakers are your tv or stereo system.
Any games written for the PS3 could be written on a native linux pc,
and ported to the Ps 3 by burning to disk where the Ps3 would run them.

True tom, however you probably would need a reader to read the screen.
Unless it was built in, you would most sertainly need a reader for
the internal configs stored on the system.

Hi Lukas,
Yes, I definitely agree with you on this one! I read the reviews of
sighted games, and I know that blind games are nothing in comparison
with those ones. I know the developer's arguments about this one, lack
of resources and stuff, so I really don't know what could be done. As
for the rumour about joining the criminals in GG, I actually once read
the line, it might have even been in a review in audyssey. I can't
remember who the reviewer was, but he said he'd heard that you could do
it. I'll search through my Audyssey issues until I find it again. As for
Code Factory's games, I tried KM 2000, which is action. I saw the other
game, Private Detective school, but don't know what it's like, because I
haven't tried the demo. Ari

HI,
it seems to me as if visually impaired gamers have either no or little
experience with the mainstream games, or just think that the level of
complexity you get from these games is impossible for the blind
accessible
ones. Either way, looks like they get too easily grateful for what the
developers release nowadays, thinking it's the best they can get and not

wanting more. What's so cool about fighting bad guys, shooting at
snakes,
catching rats with a net or spraying termites in an antique shop? (Have
a
friend who bought Bavisoft games so played them when I visited him.) The
way
you do it is all the same and there is nothing more to it. Although I'm
gonna give out a major spoiler now, I'm gonna betray the most
perfect part about my planned boss for one of my games now to give you
an
idea about the potential complexity I do imagine.
It's gonna be a game somewhat inspired by Resident Evil, so that you
will
get to face him several times throughout the game and will have the
choice
to fight for your life or run away like hell. HOwever, he is too strong
for
you to beat him, you can only stun him for a while so that you have
enough
time to run, and he can easily beat you. In the end, however, you will
gain
control over a military battle vehicle equipped with a machine gun, a
grenade launcher (with three possible types of grenades) and a flame
thrower
and will face him in this final battle. Depending on what you do, you
could
get several a bit different endings. You can use any of the three
weapons or
just try to drive over him. If you use the machine gun, although it's
strong
enough to get rid of most other creatures easily, he can regenerate well

enough to stay healthy. The rain of bullets would however prevent him
from
moving ahead very quickly, so that you could easily run away and end the

game in one possible way. If you use the grenades, it would either do
nothing to him as well or would injure him seriously, so that he would
get
out of your way for a while, but his regeneration would again make him
stand
up after some time. And if you used the flame thrower or ran over him,
you'd
crush him like a bug (hey, hey, Super Liam! :-) but it of course would
be
pretty darn difficult to do so that the battle would have something
really
tough to it...
Not to mention that if you combined the weapons together, you'd still
achieve nothing except stunning or paralysing him for a while and thus
getting a less satisfying ending, if you didn't use fire or the weight
of
the vehicle, again.
But you can of course still play Grizzly Gulch and catch some rats after

winning this game. :-D
Best wishes,
Lukas

HI,
I don't know any text strategy games but the only audiogame released so
far
which might be what you're looking for is Galaxy Ranger by Vipgameszone.
http://www.vipgameszone.com Think it costs something between 25 and 30
bucks but am not sure, you can
find that on their site.
It's even a multiplayer game and sort of reminds me of the old and good
Red
Alert or Command and Conquer. Best of all, it has an one week trial
period
without any restrictions so that you can try out even the online game
before
buying!
And although I would welcome a few minor improvements, it's still a cool

game, and especially, as I said before, the only one of this genre
currently
available to our VIP gaming community. :-)
Hope this helps,
Lukas

Hi listers.

I downladed topspeed 2 and have been playing with it. Man this game is
addictive. I only have one query. What happens when you win a race?
Is the engine sound supposed to stop? When I come last or second in a
race the engine sound stops and I get the option to sellect another
track, however if I win a race the co pilate says finish but the engine
sound keeps playin and the only way I can get out of the game is to do
an alt f4. Is this a fault in the game or am I supposed to wait for the
computer cars to finish?

thanks

Hi,
I was downloading the engine and I was thinking about making maps for
it. Do you know how to use the mapmaker with a screen reader?

it 'cause of flash and the high visual content. Is it truly playable for
the blind? How? She ues to be pretty nuts about it and would be happy if
I'd play it with her I bet. So let me know how it works and what is and

Sorry I haven't been contributing much but haven't felt all that
whippy...in
much better mood though so back on the list and back playing games. I
love
STFC and play it 'til my 20 turns run out. I wish I could play the full

version but will patiently wait. I love all ofJim Kitchen's games and
used
to play trucker late into the night. Never figured out how to beat
starmule
though. Love playing monopoly with my friends. The extras are
cool.I've
played the Tarzan Jr. demo a ton and hope to register it soon. Also like
Dark Destroyer, Duck Blaster, tourniment and sryth. Sryth I seem
to be quite addicted too at the moment.
Last Castle I've almost beat but can't kill the king.
Used to play grizzly gultch but lost the cd so there goes that
game...but it
provided hours of entertainment.
Lastly, allinplay gives me tons of joy. I wish more games had
interactive
ability where you can chat over the net and make new friends while you
play. Wouldn't scrabble be great like that? Or some other game like
dominos.why don't they make dominos to play on the net? Gosh
that'd
rock!!! I'd play it non-stop.
Also love pong and play it a ton.
Peace all!
Chris

You earn neopoints by playing games. HTML is what you should use.
Feeding pets is just clicking on your number of neopoints and pressing
enter on the food you want to feed to your pet. The rest is a combo box

Well that's gonna be a problem. There are walkthroughs for each konquest

mission, but you'll need sight to complete them.
In most cases you need to search for items, and the like. I suggest you
use
a cheat device.

Then you're doing something wrong or too slow.
I plan to do a short demonstration of the game, perhaps the first two or

three boxers of the gambit, to show how an ideal match goes, but I still

highly recommend to learn the punch chart properly and maybe use the
trainer.

By the way, Redemption is cool, although I haven't managed to beat it
yet. I
managed to get to Core when I played on my desktop but now I can get
only to
level 6 with my laptop. Has too different keyboard for me to get set to
it.
*sigh*
Best wishes,

I tried to install the game, I went the description

31%
and then suddenly it it stopped and said 0%. the same thing happened
with
the trainer as I tried to install it, it got to 53% and it stopped. I
tried
to installed as an application first, it did not work. I tried to
install it
as all files, that did not work either. I disabled AVG same result.
getting
to a certain percentage of downloading 31% and 53% and closing. should I

uncheck the dialog box which prompts "close this dialog box when
download
completes checkbox check?" or what! I got frustrated, I tried three
times to
no avail! Please help!- Original Message -

Hi all.
This msg may be a bit old for some of you.
However, a friend of mine has had on lone an acorn laptop from the
government for a bit.
Well with said things it has to go back.
Anyway, His local university are throwing out a load of high end
fully functional acorn machines.
Since both of us play old systems and started with dos, he decided to
get it. Anyway My question. I have found frotz and tads programs for
acorn. However I have a few questions. Was there a screenreader for
acorn systems, with riskos? Was the speech synth actually built in the
os like apple or was it elsewhere. I have a keynote gold, could I use
this if an external synth was needed. We have probably a dos emulator,
could I run my keynote gold with that? Its a sa, I have speech software
for it, after my old gaming system
went to bit heaven.
For ages I have tried to resorect a machine for gaming.
I have never got it working right and have given up.
It will be great to play with an old system once again.
On that note do any rommers, or emulator freaks know where we can
pick up a riskos emulator and associated roms for windows?
And also does any of you romers know where we could get the entire
version of speedball, as we lost it.
And on a pc note, does anyone have the full version of wolf3d, as we
have lost this to, this for the dos system.
You see we are verry messy and even when we buy stuff we lose the
origional disks and lose it all.

If I remember right, this one is like a cross. You got north first, then

east to rescue the actors. Then you can go either west or east. One of
the
paths will lead you down some steps. From their you go South, and follow
it
around. There are some other goodies if you explore the caves though.

If such a time zone standard would be in place and then the UTC,
universal time code, would be the only real choice. However, we can
hardly force every member and developer to learn and understand the UTC,

and find out where there home falls in it.

Hi,
Not bashing your idea, but I feel we really need a good purpose for
this. I can understand for game chats, but in your previous post you
mentioned game releases.
In my experiences game releases happen when they happen, and you will
find out when it is truly out. It is never a good idea to be the first
to go get it as you are not going to get prime bandwidth, download
speeds, and so on. You are litterally elbowing your way to get the file.

Hello Harrison.

The server on which audyssey.org is hosted on and consequently this
list, is on the Eastern time zone. Regardless of this fact, when ever a
game developer wishes to release a game is up to that person. I think we

can all assume that the game will not be available until after the email

message which goes out telling you all about it. Because of this the
little details on whether the game is released at 3AM Eastern or 9PM
Pacific are not relevant to the time zone.

Also, may I remind you of rule number 5 in the list guidelines?

I don't think we should be wedded to a timezone.
Everyone has different timezones.
Eg today is thursday, tomorrow is thursday in the us, and today is
thursday night in the uk.
Or is it wednesday?
The point is we will get confused, let it lie guys,
saying that I think gmt if any timezone is chosen should be a base
since it is what all time zones come off anyway.

What difference does the timezone make? January 1 2007 is still
January 1 2007 whether you live in New York or Japan. Only difference
is what part of the world the sun happens to be over. Unless you're
talking about something completely different at which point you
should use something other than timezones.

Hi all.

I signed up for Music Rivals a coup,le of days agi and still haven't
gotten
my activation e-mail yet, or if I have, it hasn't been at the bottom of
my
in box where my new mail should be. I just tried to have them resend
the
e-mail and I still haven't gotten it yet. Can someone tell me what the
sender's name shows up in the e-mails so I can sort my mail by sender
and
see if I've got it? I'd have to not be able to use it because I never
get
the e-mail. If my isp isn't letting the e-mail come through for
whatever
reason, is there some free Web-based service I could sign up with so I
can
get this e-mail? I hear a lot about gMail, but I don't know if that's
free
or not. Thanks all.

I posted it earlier but it's a browser-based game where you get to
manage a
rock band, do gigs, record cd's, get on record labels and compete
against
other players. It's fairly fun and each day is an hour on musicrivals.
Check the archive history for a referal link or just go to
www.musicrivals.com
Take care and hoe this helps. Chris
