Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Gaming Dice

Hi Decota.

would love to try talisman, but sadly all the printed cards etc put me off
rather which is a shame since I love the rules and so on (as I said, my
brother is an avid fan and owns the base game plus several expantions).

I actually contributed 20 usd to the project, but i agree the goal was
rather insane for what it was trying to achieve.

In terms of payment, well I'd probably be willing to go up to about £25
(around 38 usd), for a standard set of dice (which is about £10 more than
the usual DD set), plus say about £5 (7.5 usd), for each additional dye.

I would! considder paying higher, but not too much higher, for instance if
the full set was over about £50, (70 usd), I'd not really see it as worth
it, not when Gma dice is free.

I would also suggest if you were considdering this offering several packs of

dice. As I said in a previous message there are after all tabletop games
that use more dice than the standard, for instance I would need 4 d20's for
our weekly mutants and masterminds game, and it'd be nice if I could get
those in a pack.

I'm sorry if this pricing sounds devicive, I'm just trying to be absolutely
honest. Of course with a lot of accessible things you stick the word
access on and you can add several more zeroes, but there is a difference
betwene acknolidging that accessible stuff is bought less and the blatant
gouging that goes on with many makers of accessible things, hence why i
suggest roughly twice the price of printed dice, with some discounts for
ordering by packs.

All the best,

Dark.

Subject: [Audyssey] Gaming Dice

Hi folks.

I have a couple of questions for you.
First, are there any startups or established concerns out there to
produce gaming dice for we blind individuals? I don't mean six-sided
jobbies. I mean fours, eights, tens, twenties, percentiles... stuff
like that. Are any people or companies making dice that we can read?

I ask that for two separate and distinct reasons. The first is that I
want to know. Everyone around me has a set of gaming dice, and while I
certainly appreciate GMADice and others for my computer, GamerKit and
others for my iPhone, so forth and so on, I'd really rather have my
own set of shake 'em and roll 'em dice. It makes the game much more
visceral, and I think that's important.
The second reason is this. If nobody is aking dice, I want to know the
demand here and elsewhere for those dice. I want people to spread the
word. Ask their gamer buddies. Please, tell me if it's worth the time
and effort to make them, because I'd be interested in trying. I have
the means and the resources, with your committed support and
encouragement, if it's something you guys want.

Thanks for reading, and keep on rolling.

Signed:
Dakotah Rickard

that is a very good suggestion. I recently added choiceofgames to the

 Hi.
One of my first iPhone games was Choice of the Dragon. I think it's

a dollar. It's a text game and it helps you practice the gestures for
reading the screen and moving between pages.
You play a dragon and the choices you make effect your personality

 Hi.

As people will know, my Iphone is turning up this afternoon. I think I
 know
what I am doing with setup and such, but I would be interested in
 people's
 recommendations for games.

the thing that taught me most about using supernova particularly on the
 net,
was actually playing games like Legend of the green dragon and ashes of
angels. i suspect vo is the same, and I do know there is a learning
 curve,
however to make learning a little more pleasant and give me some
 incentive,
are there games people could recommend with a fairly simple interface?

king of dragon pass looks amazing, and I really look forward to trying
 it,
however the fact that it seems to take a little bit of wangling to play
probably doesn't make it ideal as a first game for vo practice.

how about silver sword? how about gamebooks? is the lost cities card
 game
relatively straight forward in terms of controls?

I know there is a training area, but as I've found in the past nothing
 is
better for learning than just rolling up my sleeves and doing, and
 nothing
is more fun to do on a computer than play games!

so, I'd very much appreciate people's suggestions and thoughts here.

I did! load up safari during my play with an Iphone and attempt to
 brouse
audiogames.net, but that didn't go exactly smoothly.

 Any thoughts?

 all the best,

 dark.

There's no demo for the iPHONE version that I'm aware of so you'll
just have to purchase it. Be patient with it and I can pretty much
garantee you won't be disappointed. It's got so much depth and
replayability that it's worth every penny of it's admitedly high
price. There's my review of it on applevis.com and a podcast I did
more recently but that's all there is to go on. There's no demo
version. It was sold as shareware on the PC but that version was
completely inaccessible. Best of luck to you. It's great single-player
fun that you don't need to be online to enjoy.

Hi dark, there's no demo available, you must purchase the game to try it.
It works well with vo, it just takes getting used to.
I particularly find the game very hard to play because there are many
things that you should remember, so much info, for example sacrificing to
x god will give you certain benefits, some years are better to harvest,
to attack other clans, etc. also there's the map which is a bit confusing
for me, but if you like explorations, RPGs and storytelling get it, I
know

you will like it. Happy playing!

possible, particularly because seven quid, while not the earth is still a
trifle on the expensive side for an Iphone game.

I believe Zack mentioned something about the game being shareware, ie,
that there is a demo to play before trying the full version, and
certainly

 that's how it's listed on the audiogames.net db, however I don't see
anything like that on the ap store entry.

Is there a demo version, and if so, how do I try it?

if not, never mind, I'll just buy the thing and chance it, although it
does slightly sound like jumping in at the deep end as far as vo is
 concerned.

If however there were a demo mode I'd appreciate trying it,
particularly because my stupid service provider still! hasn't activated
my

phone on their mobile network so I can't actually phone anybody.

 Beware the grue!

 Dark.

I didn't listen to the tutorial, but from my experience, having already
played six games, it's highly accessible. And I'm not the best iPhone user
out there, so I suspect others will find it more so.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the recording of the tutorial for this game. It sounds
interesting, and I'm considering getting this for my iPod Touch, but I
noticed it didn't feature Voiceover during the gameplay parts. As a result,
I couldn't really figure out what was going on at times. Would it be
possible to re-record the tutorial again using Voiceover so we can get a
true demonstration of how accessible it is?

Thanks again.

Hi Folks,
I found an accessible card game ported to iPhone and iPad.
TheCodingMonkeys Lost Cities.

Reiner Knizia takes you on a journey to undiscovered countries and mythical
places.
Compete against a friend, a stranger or one of 4 different computer players,
in a two player Solitaire with an extra portion of suspense.
Lost Cities is a card game played by two players. The objective of the game
is to mount profitable expeditions to one or more of the five lost cities,
(the Himalayas, the Brazilian Rain Forest, the Desert Sands, the Ancient
Volcanos and Neptune's Realm).
You have five lanes, - red, blue, yellow, green and white. You have to place
cards into those lanes.
However, these lanes start at negative value points so you have to build
them up. It's basically a game that ends when the draw stack of cards is
empty.

As I said, i don't remember such a bug myself.

Are you certain you were moving it backwards? what I mean is, the squares
are numbers a1/a12, then b1/b12.

so, when you move from the top of the a row, you are on the top of the B
row, thus, if you moved a checker one space from a12 it'd be on b12, one
more would take it to b11, and so on down the B row.

So, I wonder if perhaps you were looking at the wrong row numbers wise?

There is also an option to have the spaces numbered 1-24 as an alternative
if you prefer.

Just a thought.

Re: [Audyssey] the gamebooks of Arborell

2008-12-28 Thread Lora
Thanks for the perspective. I've actually avoided Vista for fear that
everything I use will stop working. I'm gradually learning that this is
unlikely to be true, so when I get my next computer, I'll probably just
accept Vista gracefully.

As for the games, I can see how Microsoft would want developers to port
their games to more current technology. I work for a state agency, and we
use an old version of SOAP, and an old version of SQL, both of which are no
longer supported. That puts us in a very awkward position, and we'll need
to upgrade soon, so that we can gain support for our systems.

Hi Lora,
Smile. Well, Windows Vista is a completely different case. As I have
mentioned on list several times before Microsoft is doing quite a lot of
house cleaning on Windows Vista, removing older technology support, and as a
result a lot of software you own may not work on Vista. Microsoft is also
introducing a lot of new technologies that is probably the way of the future
for Windows users.
For example, alot of gamers here aren't too happy to buy a Windows Vista
system and discover that several VB 6 libraries to run their favorite
accessible game is missing. They have to understand that fundimentally to a
programmer Visual Basic 6 anything is very very old technology.
Those Visual Basic 6 dll files were released in 1998 for Windows 95/Windows
98 era computers. From a software development point of view those dll files
are 10 years old, and are extremely ancient. Microsoft has began removing
them so that Visual Basic developers will begin porting their VB 6 apps to
VB .NET which is fully supported on Vista. As a result it is likely going to
be a while before a lot of companies, especially small accessible game
developers, get updated to the Vista platform and standards.

The Arborell gamebooks have been brought to my attention through the gamers'
list, so I went to the website and checked the game out, never having played
a gamebook before. I downloaded it, (two zip files,) put them on my Pac
Mate and, upon discovering it needed stats sheets and combat resolution
sheets and dice, I starting an Excel spreadsheet. It keeps track of
everything and rolls two dice whenever any variable is changed. For
example, in the first phase, it adds the points from your strength, agility
and so on, and shows the total underneath the last attribute. (You can't go
over 50.) It calculates your combat value as well. It will also have a
complete list of all equipment you can buy with the second set of 50 points,
the cost of each, with running points total under that. You'll just erase
the variables of any unwanted items. It still needs a bit of work, and I'm
sure someone with more Excel experience could do a lot better than I, but if
anyone wants the file I'll send it to Arborell's development team, and
perhaps someone else could host it as well in the meantime. I haven't
looked at the maps yet but perhaps there's a way to write one for the PM or
a Braille embosser, much like the maps in NetHack for the PM--dashes for
horizontal walls, dot 4-5-6 for vertical ones, and so on.
As for the game itself, it's totally usable on the PM. In my usual addicts'
style, I spent an entire game playing it--about three hours on the Excel
programming. It's a great game--as I told my daughter, it's a
choose-your-own adventure for grown-ups, and as I told my brother, it's a
dd game when you're by yourself.

[Audyssey] Learing to MUD

2008-10-24 Thread Lora
Hi,

I've downloaded VIP Mud, and I'm looking to get into a good MUD. I have all
day Sunday to learn.

If there's anyone out there willing to show me the ropes, pick your MUD of
choice, and drop me a line with the address and port. Thus far, I've found
the whole MUDDing experience a bit confusing; I've had trouble even going up
one level, and want to learn what options will make the game interesting.

I come from a MUSHing background, and the approach seems very different.

Let me know if anyone wants to show a newbie around on Sunday.

Lora

PS: I'm in Denver, Colorado, so U.S Mountain time.

[Audyssey] World Building Games

2008-10-19 Thread Lora
Hi,

Are there any good world building games out there right now? For instance,
something similar to Civilization, where you have to build your economy,
agriculture, technological developments, etc.

I'm willing to pay if the game is good. I use JAWS.

Thanks for any advice.

[Audyssey] Fantasy Football League

2008-08-29 Thread Lora
Hi,

I'm looking for a few folks to round out a fantasy football league on ESPN.
There'll be a draft on Monday, and if you can't attend that, you'd need to
rank your players beforehand.

Thus far, ESPN seems relatively friendly with JAWS.

If you're interested in joining, please Email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks.

Re: [Audyssey] Any Snail Mail games?

2008-06-09 Thread Lora
It depends on what you want to do. I played Hyborian War several times, and
loved the game. It's definitely a commercial game, though. It's set in the
world of Conan, and you play one of the many nations of the word, trying to
meet your victory conditions.

On the other hand, I've played chess through the mail, and that was fun, and
absolutely free.

A third option are the Diplomacy servers. They let you play on-line
Diplomacy, which is an absolutely cool conquest/political game. PBM
Diplomacy had its origins in snail mail gaming, but I'm not sure any snail
mail Diplomacy remains.

If there is some, you may be hard-pressed to find it for free, as any snail
mail PBM game costs at least a little bit to run.

Another option would be to play a role-playing game through the mail, with
one of you acting as storyteller and the other as player. Perhaps these
roles could change from time to time, so that both of you would have a
chance to play.

Just a few thoughts.

Hello All,
I wanted to let all you mudders out there know about a mud I found called
6dragons. The immortals and players are great. They have a config
screenreader command to make it a little easier. I wanted to try and get
some more blind mudders on there so we could help them make it better for
the blind. The immortals have asked me to give them ideas. If more of us
were on there we might be able to make it a good mud for blind players.
There are several races and classes to choose from. You can multiclass with
up to three different classes. They are constantly working on updates to
the mud. The immortals are very good at listening to the players as well as
implementing the players ideas. They have immortal run quests and other
types as well. There are currently two clans you can join. Check it out at
6dragons.org port 4000. The website is 6dragons.org. My characters name is
andrax. If you come and join look me up.
Sincerely,
Greg W.

[Audyssey] Card Games on the net

2008-05-04 Thread Lora
Hi,

I know there are numerous sites out there where one can play card games
ranging from Texas Hold'em to Pinochle, Hearts and Bridge with other people.

Are any of these card game sites accessible with JAWS? I'm willing to go
through some work to make them accessible, even rekindling my knowledge of
JAWS scripting, but if there are sites out there that already work, or work
with some tweaking, I'd love to know.

I already know about AllInPlay, and it's a great thing, but there are
numerous other games I'd like to play out there ... And maybe even for
money, and I'm trying to figure out what's available.

Failing that, are there good accessible versions of these games? I know
there are some designers of games for blind people out there, but one of my
frustrations is that the strategy of the computer players is very basic. I
can win against the Hearts game I have every time, and the same is true for
backgammon (yes, I know, not a card game, but a case in point). Ideally,
I'd like to find games designed for the sighted gaming community that either
work well with JAWS by chance, or which can be modified to do so.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Lora

As most of you know, there is a Scrabble game that works on the PM and I've
created scripts for it. I'm about to modify those scripts, but I need
feedback on what I can do to make them better. The mods will include 1.
Tile Selection. When you press 1 thru 7 the Jaws cursor will be activated.
2. Play mode. When you press p chord or insert p, the PC cursor will be
activated.
Ideas I have for mods
3. Selection notification: computer will beep when tile is selected but not
when deselected. (don't know how to go about doing that one but I'm gonna
work on it.)
4. Find a Letter to build on
The last two ideas may not be feasible.
Well, that's all for now--gonna go play more Crazy Bubbles--that game's
addictive!

Re: [Audyssey] Mithril games and Interactive Fiction

2007-11-20 Thread Lora
Hi, Ari,

First, I find that playing these games is an exercise in creativity, and not
necessarily an exercise in logic.

One thing to remember before starting out is to use save a lot. If you're
permitted to, save before you do anything you think might have a real effect
on the game. You can return to this save repeatedly after trying various
things.

A few tips:

You need to get into the game designer's head. If there is a list of verbs
available to you, read through it. This gives you an idea of just what can
be done in the game. If there isn't such a list, be prepared to try all
sorts of things.

Read carefully. Sometimes there are hints in the text; when there aren't,
once you have an idea of what's important to the designer, you'll be better
able to guess what he might have been thinking. You'll begin to learn
what's important as you read his room and item descriptions, and any other
text in the game.

Often, in the end, it's just the idea not to be afraid to try anything. Yet
a good game designer really should give you hints and nudges right in the
text; remember that almost none of the text in a text adventure is
worthless. It's there for a reason; you just need to figure out what it is.

Good luck. I'll try to be more coherent when I get home.

two weeks now that they've never gotten back to me about my problems with
Klango not speaking the menues. Very sad.
Now my next point which I want to ask. It's basically about interactive
fiction. I've never been able to solve a game or get far without looking at
the solution or, well not with Inform, using hints. My question is, how must
a player of these games think? For me, so much of these puzzles are, I don't
want to say illogical in some ways, but really, most of them I'd never think
about doing a certain way. I mean, A Bare's Night Out was recommended to me
for children. Iether these children or people who plays these games have way
super IQ's, or I just don't have the brain for these. I'd never think for
example that I'd have to hit a pipe with a disk to clear it to get a key,
etc. And then the whole thing about the ball and the cat, I threw the ball
at the cat to wake her, but I never knew that I had to shake the ball to get
the cat to follow, that the cat could climb things, it's just that I'm
really rubbish with these games!

Just a strange observation. Sometimes, a love of interactive fiction makes
new friends out of strangers. I was working with a programmer that I didn't

delight, Oh, twisty little passages, and we were off and running. It was

Some of the fun of these games is that you have to think in odd ways. There
are answers to puzzles that I would never have thought of, either, and then,
when someone tells me the answer, I see the logic. But, yeah, some of them
are really weird.

[Audyssey] Getting Back into Interactive Fiction

2007-11-18 Thread Lora
Hi,

I'm wanting to get back into interactive fiction, but I'm no longer certain
what's the best way to play the wide variety of games out there. Seems to
me there are several different interpreters and such.

I've got JAWS 9 and Windows XP Media Center.

What will I need to set up to play the various games out there? Will I need
different tools for the different game platforms? Where is the best site
for new games?

And I saw something about playing games on the Pacmate? Does this work
well? What would I need in order to do this?

Thanks.

Re: [Audyssey] Backgammon Game

2007-06-18 Thread Lora
Hi Steve,

Well, I played my first full computer game of backgammon yesterday, and I
beat the computer. The game plays well. I love backgammon, so I may be at
an advantage because I keep the entire board visualized in my head.

What will be the real telling point for me is whether the computer can beat
me? There are certain games, like the hearts game I have, where the
computer simply can't win unless I may significant mistakes.

I want a computer game that can challenge me.

In any case, I like the interface, and will probably be back for more games.

The only thing that surprised me when I won was that it didn't tell me how
many pieces he still had left to remove from the board. That would be
useful information if I had a bet on or was keeping some kind of score or
somesuch.

Nice work on the game, though.

Hello,

Azabat games are usually sold on CD because they are designed for blind and
partially sighted beginners. All the sounds are built into the CD, so it
doesn't even use SAPI, and there is no installation required. A blind person
with little computer experience can receive the disk in the post, pop it
into a computer and play the games without any installation or assistance.
There are 4 games in each volume (or 6 in volume 2) so as to keep the cost
per game down as much as possible but they can be bought singularly.

The version of Backgammon that Lora bought uses SAPI, so no screenreader
required. You can download it and try it out then buy the registration code
if you like it. There isn't another accessible version of Backgammon
anywhere so I converted the one I'd written for volume 4 into SAPI (to make
the download reasonably small) in order to test the market. People have
often suggested I go the download route and I figured that when I sold 10
copies of the programme I'd look at converting some of my other games and
make them available in this way. That milestone has still to be reached.
Fortunately, the CD versions have sold better.

Azabat are the only accessible computer games sold by the RNIB, the first
volume is available in German (from Caretec and Marland), and all the Azabat
products are available locally in the US from Independent Living Aids.

[Audyssey] Backgammon Game

Hi Jim,

What is the possibility for a backgammon game? That would be a lot of fun.
I don't think there's one out there already.

Just wondering.

Hi Eloheem Team,

I may someday create just the chess board without the chess engine just to
see if I can look and make sense of the board that way, but as I said before
so far I really very much prefer to have an actual physical board that I can
put my hands on.

Re: [Audyssey] Backgammon Game

Thanks. Maybe we can convince them to implement other enhanced features
over time. For instance, there are other versions of backgammon where the
pieces don't start at the same points, or where the doubling cube is used,
etc.

Nonetheless, I've always wanted to play backgammon against the computer, so
this is a good starting point.

They play very well. I did a review of them quite a while ago. I
particularly like Backgammon. Keep in mind however that you get good
implementations of the basic games. There aren't all the frills sighted
people might expect in their computer versions of classic board games. That
said, I've found particularly volume four with all the board games very
enjoyable.

You can download a demo of the backgammon game from Asabat software and try
it out, though it will cut out after about five minutes of play.

Just go to: http://www.azabat.co.uk/

Re: [Audyssey] looking for playtesters or feedback for pen paper RPG

2007-06-16 Thread Lora
Pen and paper gaming is a misnomer. Originally, role-playing games were
released exclusively as paper books. When you designed a character for the
game, you wrote down all your choices on a piece of paper on what's called a
character sheet. When I began playing such games 25 years ago, I simply
made my choices and had a friend write them down for me.

Nowadays, many game companies are releasing their rules in electronic
formats that we can use. As for character sheets, you can now complete them
in Word or Notepad or some other similar application, and print them out if
your gamemaster wants a hard copy. There are also Web sites for specific
game systems where you can fill out an HTML form and then print out the
nicely formatted character sheet that will make your GM happy.

Thus, pen and paper might also be referred to as keyboard and disk, or
something similar.

Role-playing games are one type of game where we really aren't at a
disadvantage at all when we play.

Depending on how the game is done you could do this in notepad.
I have to do this with messages in sod so I remember sequences.
paus and alt tab.
If its physically writing is it pen write or command entering as in an text
adventure.

oh, so we would be able to play this game then? how does it work? you

This list is open to any game that is accessible or can be made
accessible to blind and low vision gamers weather it is board games,
pen and paper games, video games, audio games etc... Since you
mentioned you are willing to offer ascii text copies of your pen and

accessibility for blind computer users who use screen reading software.
As for the game itself it sounds interesting, and I am sure those of

Re: [Audyssey] The upcoming issue

2007-06-12 Thread Lora
Hi Ron,

One thing I'd be interested in writing about are the board and carde games I
play on a regular basis. These games are purchased at a game store, and
modified by adding Braille to them. I could review playability as well as
adaptability. Would this be of interest?

Secondly, I play a lot of role-playing games that range far beyond Dungeons
and Dragons. I could review some of these, and describe how I obtained
accessible copies of the games in question, as well as talk about their
playability, rules complexity, fun factor, etc.

If either of these ideas would be of interest, please let me know.

missed alot or forgotten about any submissions I've saved it's going to be a
slim one. Not saying I'm wanting to put out the largest issue ever, but
would like a reasonable issue. So as always I'm asking for reviews,

Re: [Audyssey] Board games was Hello

2007-06-04 Thread Lora
You don't really need a Braille version. I've devised a way to play Risk
without a board at all, if only blind folks are playing.

If not, I've created a map. I list each province, and every other province
it connects to. When we're playing, you can either update the map with how
many of whose units are there, or just ask. I have a good memory, so it's
not a problem.

The best games out there aren't Brailled, and probably never will be.

OK, backgammon is adapted, but I don't use the adapted boards, anyway.

Sinse there's never been a braille version, the only contact I've really had

dramatic war story which turns out to be a game of risk.

Stil, looking at the Wikipedia artical it's deffinately a game I'd like to

Re: [Audyssey] Board games was Hello

2007-06-02 Thread Lora
I would love to see more board games developed. Top of my list include:

Risk: Yes, many of us are familiar with this game of world conquest. I'd
love to play against the computer, or find ways to make it an Internet game,
and play with human opponents.

Ticket to Ride: The goal of this game is to build trains all across the map
(there are currently three: U.S., Europe, and Germany specifically). It's
a lot of fun.

San Juan: A resource building game, where you're trying to build the city
of San Juan. You build buildings, factories and other resources that each
help you earn victory points. Playing against the computer would be good,
but against other people is better. San Juan is actually a card game, but
it's based on a board game called Puerto Rico.

Talisman: A fantasy game where each player takes on the role of a character
with special abilities: thief, warrior, prophetess, monk, etc. You
navigate around the board, encountering adventures in the various spaces,
and drawing cards to encounter your foes, treasures and the like.
Originally released in the 1980's, with many expansions, the actual game
will be re-released this summer.

I'd love card games that I could play against others, such as hearts,
pinochle and the like. There's a cool card game called Five Crowns, which
is an enhanced version of rummy.

There are also word games like Palabra and Quiddler which test your word
knowledge against that of your opponents.

OK, I've rambled enough for now.

Re: [Audyssey] Excellent New ArticleAboutGameAccessibilityonGamasutra

2007-04-25 Thread Lora
I'll throw my two cents in.

Emotional appeals just won't work. For developers, for companies, it's all
about the money, about the glitz, the gloss, the numbers. They won't write
games for niche markets, and since the needs of the disabled community are
scattered, with different accommodations required for blind, deaf, and
paraplegic users, they won't be able to round us up into a significant
enough market to make their corporate sponsors care.

Developing to targeted audiences also does take time, not just in coding,
but in testing as well. We have to make that worthwhile, and an emotional
appeal won't do that. To suggest that it will come easily trivializes the
programming effort involved.

Besides, developers reading that article might fleetingly be affected by the
prose, but they'll forget it tomorrow. Most of us, whoever we are, don't
think about what could happen tomorrow. We don't dwell on the possibilities
that were outlined. We keep going until it happens, and then we try to
cope. That's just the human way.

Just my two cents.

Lora

I am not impressed by the article. It does appeal on emotional level
and that is not what concerns the developers. It is simply cold, hard,
cash.
We need to present our case for more accessible games from that
perspective.
That will be the only way to get their attention.

Thanks. I ended up playing for a few hours last night, and I think I'm

It says $9.95 on the Web page, but I think I'd pay either amount.

And I haven't run into anything that JAWS can't handle, either, including
combat.

Well actually, unless he lowered the price, it's actually $20 a year, and
even that's worth it. You can play portions of the game without paying, but
there are too many benefits to becoming an adventurer's guild subscriber.
Bonus experience, items you can't obtain without subscribing, quests you
can't go on without subscribing, and there are a lot of those, places you
can't even visit without subscribing, access to pregenerated characters if
you don't want to roll your own, and finally, access to the Proving Grounds,
which is a special competitive set of adventures put out every couple months
or so. The Proving Grounds adventures take the form of a story just like all
the others, but you're scored and rewarded based on how well you do compared
to other players. So again I say that it is definitely worth it. Enjoy, and
if you ever need any help, just let me know.

Are there any good web-based games out there? I'm looking for a good
 RPG,
or a place where I can play cards with others. I already play at
 Allinplay,
but want something more ... Like pinochle or hearts against others ... Or
playing backgammon or risk against others somehow.

Anything even remotely similar that will work with JAWS?

Hi Brandon,

I'm looking at Sryth right now. Thanks for the recommendation. Is paying
$9.95 a year worth it? And anything I need to know about the game with
JAWS?

Thanks again.

If you want a good RPG, I highly recommend Sryth.
http://www.sryth.comm
And if you want some stories that actually end, http://www.ffproject.com Or
if you would like a little comedy...
http://www.kingdomofloathing.com
Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Brandon

[Audyssey] Chillingham

2006-07-22 Thread Lora
Hi,

I want to buy Chillingham, but it looks like if I buy it, it'll be mailed to
me. Is there any way to purchase it and download it immediately?

Thanks,

Lora
