Re: [Audyssey] Sound RTS: Fog of war?

2007-08-15 Thread Niall
I think it means that you have explored it but there are none of your units
there right now so if something changes about the square like an enemy
peasant goes to the unit and starts getting gold you will not know about
this until you return to that square. Fog of war isn't really anything it's
just a term that developed over time with rts games.

Re: [Audyssey] Sound RTS: understanding now..

2007-08-12 Thread Niall
Let's just say that knights are a necesity. I once managed to fight off 30
footmen with only 7 knights although there were only 2 left both of which
were at 0 health. But knights are very important to success. Usually I make
about 5 footmen to defend my self when people send scouts then I just build
as many as possible. If you have 20 knights, nothing can beat you accept for
dragons and mages.

2007-08-12 Thread Niall
WEll if you know you are going to lose you have no soldiers left and not
enough gold to even make a peasant not to mention the dragons and mages
blasting your last townhall apart then what's the point in watching yourself
get defeated instead quit and play another game. It still counts you as
winning or losing which ever one it is.

Go one north from the dark room. Here examine the table you hit your shins
on. IT will have a drawer in it. Open this and get the tube and key. PUt the
tube on the cane to make the cane functional. THen go east and examine the
cover of the book. This will teach you how to read braille. Now read the

Re: [Audyssey] Sound RTS result

2007-07-22 Thread Niall
I think I would rather the farms only providing food and not having an
upkeep an upkeep is really annoying to keep dealing with I like how you just
give the amount of food and gold when you train the unit and that's that
even though it is unrealistic.

Re: [Audyssey] Sound RTS result

2007-07-22 Thread Niall
The answer to the wierd numbers is that this is directly translated from
french so when it says something like 4 128 minutes it means 428 minutes and
when it says something like 4 20 6 minutes it means 86 minutes. It takes
some getting used to.

 Hi Jean-Luc
Lol are the units in SoundRts blind? I say this because I sometimes
 hear
units walking into walls. Also once when I had 7 footmen an archer and
 3
or 4 knights, I ordered footman 7 to go somewhere, but I just heard a
walking sound and he went nowhere. Then I sent him somewhere else and
heard him continuously bonking against the wall, still going nowhere.
Also I would like to see a feature to fire units. I had to let the
peasants commit suicide by walking into the enemy camp when I wanted a
 bigger army. Lol!

Hey
I still play the game and have gotten a few things I have a character that
has successfully stayed alive for about 80 game days now but he's stuck
since there isn't any food or water for miles where I am and there is a high

Re: [Audyssey] roleplaying games.

2007-06-23 Thread Niall
Muds are much quicker then brouzer based games. The mane reason is you don't
have to keep waiting for pages to load and they rarely have adds on them.
Also since you type your commands instead of clicking on them from a list I
think that makes things easier also.

Re: [Audyssey] Your MUD/Internet CRPG Wish List

2007-06-23 Thread Niall
The most important things I would want in a computer game is a rich and
interesting environment with well done descriptions where you can interact
with everything mentioned in the room. For example if it mentioned that
there was a chair in the room you should be able to sit on it even if it
isn't on the list of objects at the bottom. Also I would like a well
balanced race, class, and combat system with several different choices in
each. Also interesting quests not just find this and kill that sort of
thing. I know I'm asking for a lot but it would be better for you to work on
a game for a very long time but it to be a good game then for you to release
a mud that isn't really that great or is severely lacking in many areas.

Re: [Audyssey] Interactive Fiction games

2007-05-28 Thread Niall
Hi
It's good to see you on the list. Personally I like interactive fiction
games with a lot of choice as to what you can do and different ways of
solving puzzles etc. The best way I think of doing this is making a quite
complex rpg where you can choose to do things like be good or evil
honourable or unforgiving and so on which can really add to a game. I also
think that story is extremely important second to gameplay. If you have to
make a few spelling or gramatical errors to get that done then that's fine
with me. I know that sounds demanding, but it would be better for an if
writer to spend a few years on a really good if game then to spend only a
few months and make not such a great game. A famous game writer once said
that a delayed game is eventually a good game, but a bad game is bad
forever.

TOME is a roguelike game like nethack or adom. I've never been able to
figure out how to play it unfortunately but maybe you can. It stands for
tails of middle earth. I can't remember the address you should search it's
full name on google and you'll probably find something.

Re: [Audyssey] bomb blaster!

Hi
You could make some levels randomised so you you will never know what enemy
lurks in the next room. It would also be good to have some sidequest or
something where you have to collect a certain number of different things on

game is impossibley hard and if you mess up on one part you have to go right
back to the beginning unless you save all the time and even then it's hard
to know if you did something wrong I played it through dozens of times with
no success.

Well I have 2 big problems for 1 I can't stop my expelliarmus spell from
backfiring it never seems to work and when you face the dragon I can't beat
it because every time I fire an expelliarmus at it I get killed since I drop
my wand. The other thing is there seems to be some sidequests that might be
very important that I can't solve for example on Friday prof. Niva Nixo
mentions he lost a book and I can't find the book. Also in the second
divination class I think you have to guess a number and every time I try I
get the wrong one. I managed to get the skeleton key and go into the staff
quarters where I went to dumbledores office and pushed a bookshelf asside to
find myself in a secret passage that doesn't have any use from what I can
find I went into the chamber of secreets but there was nothing there and the
restricted section of the library but I couldn't read any of the books. Do
you have any idea what I should do?
Thanks.

Yeah medievia is the only hack-n-slash game I like it is very much like
world of warcraft but with no races and only 4 classes but a huge area to
explore and a great combat system allong with some very interesting quests
even though most of them are fetch quests.

Yeah but quest is nothing unless it has a good story line and some
interesting puzzles that's the thing about all those stat crunchers they all
have quests like go get that item or go kill 20 of this monster or find this
person and say this frase to that person and so on.

Re: [Audyssey] alter eon

2007-02-05 Thread Niall
Well if you're having difficulty getting around in muds you could try nodeka
which is a fascinating quest filled mud with realistic characters and great
players. There is a map that always appears over the latest description of
where ever you are that allows you to look around that zone with less
difficulty. The maps are similar to nethack maps if you understand those the
only thing is it's a little annoying listening to your speech reader reading
out the map before describing the area so you can turn off the auto map and
call it up when ever you like with the map command.
Good luck!

WEll you could make some treasures in certain rooms near torches not make
sounds. For example in james North's version there was a room full of about
8 gems but you couldn't know that they were there unless you've been there

2007-01-15 Thread Niall
It should come with the wii. I got one for christmas and from what I've
found out you can only get it with the wii maybe you can buy it too. It's
quite accessible believe it or not especially the boxing and the baseball.
Good luck.

Re: [Audyssey] a good Mud game

2007-01-06 Thread Niall
Hey
A mud I would recommend is achaea, dreams of divine lands or just achaea.
It's a very in depth game with almost 30 million rooms, a great atmosphere
and it's very newbie friendly with a good tutorial at the beginning. ONly 2
small problems with it that shouldn't bug you too much.
1 It takes a while for jaws to work propperly with the game propperly at
first it just reads random things on the screen so you need to use the jaws
curser. I'm not sure how it works with window eyes but one of my friends
uses it and he said it was more difficult but you can get used to it and
find ways to get arround it.
The other problem is it has a strict roleplaying polocy I almost had a
character deleted by saying a few out of character comments but once you get
used to it it's not too bad and I quite like it sometimes it makes the
atmosphere better and more real without people talking constantly about
technical problems or what they watched yesterday at the movies. lol
But anyways I hope you enjoy it.

Hey Tom
Looks awesome! JUst one thing, I think you should still have the voice
announce the colour of the keys you are getting and the colours of the doors
so we can find the corresponding keys easier like in the origional demo that
james north did. Other then that it sounds like a great game!
Good luck.

Go is kind of like chess. I don't really get it myself but it's something
like taking all the opponent's pieces and basicly taking over the board. I
only know about it from an if game called not just a game.

I think the ruby bracelet is in the quest for the monks in trithic. The one
where you have to close some kind of gate allowing evil demons and creatures
into the world. I could never complete that quest since I've never really
had any skills in gating and my character is pretty bad since I don't have
the adventurers guild membership.

 Hello.

the only way to raise your staminer in Sryth is buy equipping and
 wearing
armour, but luckily in Sryth you can equip and wear lots of armour. A
 full
compliment means four rings, and one piece of armour of each other
 type,
head, torso, arms, hands, waste, legs, feet, back and tabard. there is
 also
currently one item in the game described as "Armour, wrist" as well.

As to the old cathedral, you need to find and defeat all four guardians
 to
open the exit to the lower level.

Just in case you need them, I'll give the directions to the guardians,
 but
if you'd rather find them on your own you'd better stop reading now:

guardian 1: from the entrance, head north until you come to an
 East/west
jungction where you should go west, then south, then east, south, and
 west
 again.

guardian 2: At the previously mentioned east/west junction, head east,
 then
quite a long way south, then east, and finally north.

Guardian 3: from the entrance head south, then at the east/west
 junction
 go
west. Take the first north, then west and south.

guardian 4: This time, head east from the previously mentioned
 junction,
then go north until you reach a passage to the west, follow that round
 to
 the south and east.

to find the entrance to the lower level, just go east from the junction
mentioned above (the one south of the entrance.

I hope all that was of some help.

 all the best,

 Dark.
