[Audyssey] What is the game of cricket, and the iPhone app?

2017-02-21 Thread Sharon Hooley
Hi,

I noticed that there's an iPhone app for the game of cricket. What type of
game is the real thing, and does this app work the same way?

Thanks,
curious

Hi,
Kitchen's games do work on windows 10, you just have to run it as
administrator if you use the file that has all the games bundled in it.

Subject: [Audyssey] Windows 10 and Kitchen's inc games?

Hi all,

The subject line nearly asks my question for me. I'm not sure if its
possible as I might be moving to a Windows 10 machine soon, and I wanted to
know what will be working for me when that happens.

So, Does Jim's games work on Windows 10? If so, do I need to make any
modifications or some such. Also, I heard talk of an installer of sorts of
all the Kitchen's INC games in one file.

Is that currently available? That'd be a big help, whoever came up with that
one, thanks a heap.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Mike

[Audyssey] Issue with some Blindfold Racer fences

2016-10-10 Thread Sharon Hooley
Hi,

I'm enjoying practicing Racer for the challenge game. But I have an issue with
some of the fences. I know that my headset is oriented correctly and the home
button is to the right, yet I sometimes crash into one despite the fact I'm
holding my iPhone 5s nearly vertically. Any tips?

Thanks,

So, do I need to be in a conference call in ordou to post my scores to social

[Audyssey] Slight issue with some sounds in Racer

2016-09-14 Thread Sharon Hooley
Hi,

I've been having trouble identifying some of the sounds. A lot of it has to do
with the ramps/bridge I must cross. I can't seem to hear them clearly, partly,
I think, because we're not told what their sounds are. It would also be
beneficial to be able to adjust the volume of how loud the fence warning and
the boing we hear when we hit it.

However, I feel I'm doing better by holding my phone facing the ceiling and the
stereo split at the highest. Thank you for the fun!

[Audyssey] Oops, Not clear subject, dissatisfied with my Racer Challenge Scores

2016-09-12 Thread Sharon Hooley
Hi,

Well, I sent this message before adding to the Subject Line. My bad.

I'm over twenty levels in practice mode, but not satisfied with my performance
in the Blindfold Racer Challenge. One thing that might be making it more
difficult is that I don't hear the same way in both ears, though I try to
position my headset to make the sounds more balanced. But I'm wondering, would
I benefit more with a higher/lower stereo split? Any other tips beside the
obvious volume adjustments of sounds?

Thanks,

Re: [Audyssey] App and special decks for Talking Game Cards

2016-08-13 Thread Sharon Hooley
It depends how many decks you want to buy. If I remember right, 1 deck is only
around $16. I'm curious, how much does 1 deck cost if you get it in Braille
from a website like Independent Living Aids?

Another suggestion I have is that, if you have an OCR app like Prizmo or KNFB
Reader, you might be able to scan regular decks.

Re: [Audyssey] Using a Die for Role Playing

2016-08-06 Thread Sharon Hooley
I wonder if there's a game where you use die to determine the fate of, say
farming, like you roll a certin number and are forced to pick a card that says,
good harvest, or hale destroyed crops. I know there's the game of Life, but it
seems rather dull to me, not like more detailed real-time gd/bad fate, like you
you gave birth to a girl, and then she gets cancer and eventually dies, unless
it has been improved after I've played it some years ago.

[Audyssey] Understanding the Pinball Concept

2016-04-12 Thread Sharon Hooley
Hi,

With the Blindfold Pinball just announced, I have a question. I've never
played pinball in an accessible way. I only remember continually pressing a
button at a game in a store or mall, my sister urgently commanding "Push push
push!" I think it was Pinball back in the 70's/early 80's. I think I kind of
understand that it involves pushing balls that roll into areas of the machine
that causes different actions, gives points and abilities. But I'm wondering
if I should know anything more?

Thanks for any input,

[Audyssey] Playing games with a Bluetooth Headset

2016-01-08 Thread Sharon Hooley
Hi,

Is it possible to play games that require stereo or 3D output with a Bluetooth
headset? If so, is there a specific type that anyone likes the best?

Thanks,

[Audyssey] The Game of "Say What"

2015-11-16 Thread Sharon Hooley

Hi,

Has anyone played the game "Say what?" It's a stand-alone portable device in
which you put parts of proverbs together. Is it kind of like a madlib, where
you can mix the parts and have it announce the results, or does it just say
something like, "Oops, that doesn't match."? Or is it being produced anymore?

Thanks,

[Audyssey] an IOS Game I wish I could play

2015-08-09 Thread Sharon Hooley
Hi, it's been awhile since I last posted. I hope all is going well, and I'm
sorry for the loss of Jim Kitchen.

Has anyone played an IOS game called Blind Earth Escape? It is a maze where
you must bring a silver ball from underground. The problem is that I can't
seem to get past the setup of a game. When I try, it asks me if I want to
start a new game or maze. I try to respond, but for some reason I'm stuck
there. I've had to delete and reinstall it for a fresh beginning, but no go.
This is not the only app in general where I can't go past certain points. Any
thoughts?

Thanks,

Sharon H.

Re: [Audyssey] Descent into madness

2014-05-15 Thread Sharon Hooley
Hi,

I've played with the Descent into Madness, so I understand most of the
questions. I don't remember about the card reader, but I'll give you a hint
about the safe combination: Did you meet another guy who had been locked up
near the bathroom? I think you'll understand his voice better. He'll tell you
something he heard the scientist repeated over and over. Part of playing a
game like this, at least for some people, is to keep trying to get everything
figured out to rescue people. Unfortunately, when I played it, I either
couldn't turn it off, or I have no clue on how to finish it when the guiding
voice says something like, congratulations, you've conquored the monsters.
They're all dead, or are they?! That's where I gave up and had a difficult
time closing the program. As I recall, I couldn't save my moves in slots so I
could come back to them. So, unless the makers went back and made the
corrections, Descent into Madness was not completed. Still fun to play, though!

[Audyssey] My specific problem with a three

2014-04-08 Thread Sharon Hooley
Okay, Here's my situation: I went to the banking and tried to withdraw on my
allotted 25.00 credits, but the teller could not do this. So how do they work
when you want to buy stuff at the marketplace? I saw invitations to join some
guilds, and I became a member of one. But is there a certain area I need to go
to start work? Also, I haven't seen choices for activities like farming and
fishing. Is this because I didn't know about activating screen reader mode?
Maybe it's all because I'm not really familiar with this type of web-based
games?

Thanks for any input you can give,

Again, not likely. I am pretty certain it is on our end. We had
technical issues late last week which should not have effected the

reason for it to stop mail delivery for several users. I'm looking

[Audyssey] Alter Aeon help

2013-01-10 Thread Sharon
Hi all,
I don't know if anyone can give me a hint with finding this 1 place, but I
thought I would ask anyways. There is supposed to be a cemetery in
Mendelius' cave, which is outside of Naphtali. I picked up the quest from
the dwarf or was he an elf in those caves.

Thanks for any assistance.

Hi,
Note: SPOILERS below, if you don't want the quest to be done for you, DO NOT
READ!

Ok, so you have to get to the bottom level, behind the door you might have
found that doesn't open .You have to find a wand in the northeast corner of
the cave, which is on one of the slaver demons. Then you use it on an
archway on that top level. That will transport you to the place behind the
door. Once you do that, you have to go through the house, killing
everything on the way if possible, and then go down to the next level. Note
that there will be a place where a priestess is chanting or something,
you'll have to kill her, move an altar or some such, go behind it and get
some coins, as you'll need them later on. Then you'll wander around a bit,
then find a stairway guarded by two fiery demons. Go down it, and continue
going down . Eventually you'll get to a small graveyard, but that isn't the
place you need yet. You unlock a door in the graveyard with a key I think
you got in the place behind the door, then go in. That will put you in a
maze of tombstones. Basically you type touch tombstone, and the exits around
you shift. You walk around keep touching tombstones when possible, and
eventually you'll get to the end. You'll find a fairy man, and you give him
a token to take you across. Then you'll be in the graveyard. From there you
just follow the path around until you get to the end, where the grave keeper
is. Kill him, and get what you're supposed to.

Note that I have not given explicit instructions partly because I haven't
done this quest in a while, and partly as to not spoil the entire quest too
much. Also note that there are side quests and interesting things to do that
I'm going to let you find out on your own, mainly for the same reasons.

Hth,
-Michael.

[Audyssey] Alter Aeon question

play all of Alter Aeon without any assistance? Also is there 1 class that is

Hi,
Thanks all for the input, so I guess that to start with maybe have a warrior
as a primary and then maybe either a mage or a necro as secondary? Where
would you find good equipment for your character?

It's all about the equipment. In the long run, all classes are pretty equal,
though some take more skill and practice to play properly. Necromancer is a
great newbie class to start with, especially if you build a clev set early.
However, necromancer isn't a catch-all class. Warriors end up being really
powerful once you get a decent hit set going, as well as mages if you build
a clev set for them. Personally I would not pick cleric as a primary if you
don't intend to group. Clerics have a lot of buff/regeneration/group aimed
spells, so they're nice to have as a second or third class, but a lot of the
xp you get from clerics is while grouped. Thief would probably be your worst
class if you're new to the mud. In the long run, it's one of the safest
classes to play, but it takes a lot of understanding of how the mud works,
and what you need to do to succeed.

I have several files that might help solve some of the issues here.
Specifically, I have a manual for AMFV, which has a text version of the code
wheel, and I have a walkthrough for cutthroats which takes the place of the
mariner's book. I've also got a walkthrough for lgop somewhere which gives
you the path through the maze. If anybody would like me to send you these
files, let me know. I may be able to dig up more things with some time; it's
been a while since I've seriously played IF.

Hi Sharren.

So long as you chose the bounty hunter and not another profession with
different combat skills, taunt should be under the text to fire your guns or
start missiles, but you might need to minimize the tutorial window sinse
it's possible the tutorial is covering it.

you might also try starting a new game, playing a bounty hunter then
attacking another ship just to see the combat screen (I did this when i was
testing the fixes for the combat screen issue), so as to get familiar with
what is on the ship combat screen and what you find without the tutorial
window getting in the way.

Also remember that right clicking on things often gives you an explanation
of what they do. this is certainly true for skills in combat.

the old eamon system on the apple Ii computer released mostly in the 1980's
and 90's, plus some modern adventures written for eamon deluxe.

The advantage of course in the full eamon deluxe which you don't get with
the stand alone adventures is that in eamon, you start from the main hall of
the guild of free adventurers where you can buy weapons, spells, stat
upgrades etc, and go on individual adventures from there. When you get back
to the hall with whatever cash you've earned from an adventure, you can
obviously buy better stuff and improve your character. This is a very
unique thing and quite a lot of fun.

Sinse a lot of people back in the 80's didn't bother with this and used
pregenerated characters instead (like the test characters who come with the
stand alone adventures),frank also includes a character editer where you
can tweak your characters stats, give yourself uba weapons or create a super
character if you want, though to be honest this to me is a little pointless
and I only tend to use the editer for testing the adventures in the beta.

If you, or indeed anyone else would like to try the beta version, drop a
mail to frank black the developer on eamondel...@gmail.com

While the stand alone adventures are okay as an example, runcible cargo is
actually pretty amazing, there are of course more in the beta.

The eventual plan is to have all! the classic eamon adventures converted to
eamon deluxe format, as well as some new ones written just for eamon deluxe,
but that will take a while.

Still in the 25 or so adventures frank has converted thus far there are
some pretty awsome ones. some pretty awfull ones too and some in
betwene, but even the mediocre ones tend to be worth playing I find.

Hth.

Beware the Grue!

Dark.

Hi Dean,

Interesting. I just hit the backspace key and it removes that annoying
percent sign.

2012-09-10 Thread Sharon
Hi Dean,
I was able to put my own coach name in for my team without any problem, but
I had to use my arrows to find the % in the opposing teams coach and then I
backed it out and then to make sure it was out I hit the delete key. I then
just hit enter letting the opposing coach be whatever name it wanted to use.
Hope this helps.

How do you get rid of the %? I typed in the name of the coach for my team
then just entered on the name of the opposing quarterback and stil got the
run-time error 13 of type mismatch.

Once I thought maybe if I hit the decimal point on the numpad which is
delete in jaws it might delete the % but it just added a dot to the name I
typed in.

Strange. I'm running Jim's NFL on a Toshiba with Windows 7 64-bit and have

[Audyssey] About Game Ideas

2011-06-05 Thread Sharon Hooley

Hi!

Thank you all for your response! I was hesitant, but I guess I'll
try Bop it. The only thing I don't like about it is the repeated
actions where you're not picking up anything.

Thanks again!

[Audyssey] Runtime Error

2011-06-04 Thread Sharon Hooley

Hi all!

I downloaded and installed finger panic, but when I tried to run it,
I got a runtime error 429, saying that active X component couldn't
create object. So maybe it's too old?

Thanks!

[Audyssey] Other Game Ideas?

2011-06-04 Thread Sharon Hooley

Hi again!

I'm looking for a fast-paced game, kind of like arcade but that
doesn't require stereo or surround sound, as I am one-sided, waiting
for a hearing aid to get fixed. Finger Panic was a great example. Any others?

[Audyssey] Looking for Finger Panic

2011-06-03 Thread Sharon Hooley

Hi all!

I've been browsing the AudioGames website, and found the one called
Finger Panic was still listed. I played that game a long time ago on
another computer. Apparently the homepage for that is broken. So I
did a Google for BSCGames, and found the BSC site. I looked through
the games there but didn't find the one I wanted. Why was it taken
down? Or is there somewhere else I can get it?

Thanks!

interesting, but I didn't see info on how to play it. I'd like to know, so I

Yohandy, I'm impressed! Not attempted that song myself, but if the
game is even halfway like the coordination I needed to nail the solo
on a real guitar it'd be fun.

Audio cues as an optional thing wouldn't ruin the track imho, because
surely most of us would run through training with them on, it'd make
the figuring out process infinitely less painless, then we'd turn them
off to have a shot at a song in career mode once we were confident.
Of course, this all hinges on Harmonix either implimenting talking
menues or some way of enabling/disabling accessibility features in an
accessible fashion. Yup, badly explained, but hopefully you get my
point.

I've not been to the Harmonix forums or whatever. Would a
well-written thread starter perhaps with a link to a youtube vid of
you or someone similarly decent at the game demoing what's possible be
the type of thing that would get the right sort of attention?

on
this list should be able to as well. If they were to add some sort of

to the track it would just ruin the song with unnecessary beeps or
whatever.

the talking menus would rock though. why don't you all email harmonix and
let them know? that's the only way they'll find out, and they do want to
help the blind according to a forum post I read a while back, they just
don't know what to do. this is a great opportunity guys and everyone
should

let them know. it isn't every day a mainstream company does this and we
could finally be recognized if everyone says something.

I think the easiest thing for me when it comes to these music games is
the

vocals. If companies like Harminix could add talking menus to the game,
especially for the career mode, that'd be helpful. At least we'd have a
chance of getting through the career mode. Right now I'm stuck somewhere
in

career mode, where no matter what I play this next venue that I need to
go

to simply will not unlock. Think I've unlocked a few, but I haven't even
got all the vehicles yet, the Bus and Jet something of which I thought I
already had. So even if they can't think anything for audio cues for
drums
and guitar/bass, vocals would be fine though honestly I'd prefer
something
where I don't have to use my voice. Also, on vocals, some songs are
pretty

hard, and we don't know how high or low the game would allow us to go. On
expert painkiller, for example, the singer goes very high, not as high as
I

could go certainly. I think what a blind person might do is be like Oh,
crap, I have to sing like that? The answer is no, we don't, but I don't
know how high I could go to get the max stars/score possible. Also,
playing

around on expert bass is certainly fun, not as frustrating as learning
guitar cords. Not in career mode though, since if you fail you'll loose
fans, probably stars to the next advancement, etc.

Another thought that just occurred is that, although some of the

of the open source efforts such as frets on fire already has so many
songs mapped out by users, if someone could come up with a way of
putting those cues across in audio to relieve at least partly the need
to memorise songs hit for hit, that'd be sweet. I realise that
people, me included when I dabble from time to time at friend's
places, have had pretty good success with the mainstream titles, but
the ability to have a fully accessible career mode and/or compete
online accessibly would be awesome.

Just food for thought, I haven't thought about it enough to know
whether it'd really be doable.

[Audyssey] Comments on Kringle Crash

2009-12-25 Thread Sharon Hooley
Hey Phillip,

This is a fun game, and I love the ongoing music in the menu! As for the
professional acting, I have a harder time hearing some of it because it has a
far-away acoustic sound, which I can understand you would want. I understand
the gist of it, but I'm wondering, do you have the text transcript? I'm
curious as to what they're saying exactly. If not, that's okay. I wouldn't
want you to have to make the effort of typing what the characters are saying.

thanks for creating this challenge!

Re: [Audyssey] help finding games for deaf/mtion impaired

2009-12-18 Thread Sharon Hooley
I would add the question, which games are accessible for deafblind players?
I have a suggestion for hard-of-hearing folks like me who have a hard time
with surround sound. Maybe there could be a conversion alternative for an
action-packed game that could use time reaction challenges instead of
knowing directly where the sound is coming from. For example, if a monster
is chasing you, you would normally dodge it knowing which way it's headed.
But in my conversion, it would be just a matter of timing, like I have to
decide quickly what action to take before time runs out and I get killed.

[Audyssey] Introduction and Questions

2009-11-08 Thread Sharon Hooley
Hi!

My name is Sharon Hooley from Idaho. I've enjoyed playing some of the
accessible games. I'm especially hooked on Crazy Tennis! I like games that
require actions and being able to tell where things are, but now I have the
cochlear implant on one side, and a hearing aid on the other, so it's a bit of
a challenge.

One game I enjoy is Descent into Madness, but I see a couple of problems. At
the beginning of the game, where the menu options are available, I can choose
to quit. But when I'm playing the game, I don't see that option and I have to
force it down with the task manager. the other problem is that when I try to
save the game in a slot using myself on the journal, I get an error message,
and it seems I have to start all over again. Does anyone have a clue as to how
to avoid these things?

thanks much!
