Re: [Audyssey] Achaea, MUD
Hello, the games are good but to complicated in my opinion. I had a quick go on all of them and just could not get in to them at all. I like muds but have never really found a mudding home. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Exactly Greg. I couldn't have said it better myself. Totally absolutely correct. However like I said I kind of have a love hate relationship with the iron realms games. They do have good points. Well I am not going to have much time to do anything especially play muds. So the decision has been taken out of my hands which is just fine with me. Re: [Audyssey] Achaea, MUD
Hello. A character named vadimus has created most scripting needed but it will cost you some game credits which you will either have to accomulate up with time or buy. Or you can do the triggers and such you need on your own. I have mixed feelings about achaea. If you just create a character just to explore and play the way you like it can be fun. But you lose out on all the activities house and city membership can provide. All iron realms games are like this. They are also very roleplay intensive. Again if you create a non housed non city character it can be fun. But if you join a house or city you are required to obey the rules of that city or house. To me it takes a lot of the fun out of the games and I really in one way don't understand why the iron realms games have such high rankings. It is also very player vs player. Again this is where a lot of the excitement can be. I love the potion creation and herb plant picking if you go for one of the classes that offers that. If you don't you can only buy the ingredients from shops which can be very costly. There also aren't a ton of players online which can be a blessing or curse depending on how you look at it. If there was a game like achaea that didn't have the intense roleplay and had all the neat games like egghunt and such and only had hunting I would play it. But I don't like the intense roleplay. The limiting of yourself to one class among other things. It makes for a very real live type of gaming world. But I want to enjoy myself when playing a game. Not have to worry if someone is going to steal from me while I am on a quest. Or pk me for a role play reason that they made up thinking I might be interested in role playing along. Or trying to reach the nearly impossible ranks when a great hunt is going on simply so I can get to the rank that allows me to get some free credits. like I said I have very mixed feelings about Achaea. I would like to play there for the fun stuff available. But I hate how you are limited in certain ways if you chose not to join a house and or city. It is definitely a game meant to be player vs player. To play otherwise is almost boring. But I would like to play a character that gets to dragon level just to do it so maybe I will create a character that is not housed and citied just for that purpose and then join a house or city if I wish to do so at that point. You can put antitheft features in place and they help a lot. I have actually chuckled when people tried to steal from me but couldn't because I had all the proper antitheft stuff on. But it is still annoying when your in the middle of a quest and these people just feel like trying to steal from you. Its just annoying. If the game weren't so confounded real I would probably like it more. Please note all iron realms games have the same basic outline which certain differences. I love the crafting system on achaea. But I like batmud's more. Mainly because again crafting jewelry making and the like costs you a lot of gold or credits which you can get in game without spending real money but it will take a while. I gues I have a love hate relationship with the Iron realms games. I would love just for the fun of it max a character on each game just to say I have done so. But there is so much about the games I don't like that I simply have never gotten that far. Hello Jaliya, The mud is too much like Avalon. That is, other than the combat, you should be fine. The combat in the muds coming from hourglass is always hard for me to follow. Lol. Re: [Audyssey] achaea?
I've tried playing the iron realms several times, they have pretty advanced mechanics. My problem is that they enforce their roleplay way too heavily, and a lot of it doesn't make sense. For example, having to write a massive essay on why you want to join the warriors guild, and going through an entire interview process. I can see this maybe for a high-ranking sorcerers guild, but you'll never see that for some of the classes they have in those games, like the monk-based classes or the warrior/knight classes. I dunno. If they made a non-roleplaying game I'd most definitely give it a try, but I don't think that's going to happen. - Original Message - From: "jaliya skye" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Gamers Discussion list" Sent: Tuesday, July 08, 2008 10:57 AM Subject: [Audyssey] achaea? > Hi there: > > Does anyone play Achaea? [Audyssey] achaea alias, triggers and sound packs for gmud
Hello all, This is Scott. Msn has my account in my wifes name. I have a question. Has anyone designed a set of aliases, and sound packs for achaea for gmud? If so, what kind of character was it for? Also, wasn't there a way to use zmud with jfw? I'm thinking a long time ago, someone wrote an article showing how this was possible. I'd like to try zmud againe, but I don't know how workable its going to be. Most muds are calling for compression so I'm looking for a workable client that will give the compression and ease of configuration. I'd like to try monkeyterm for this, but don't know if it supports compression, and there is no actual online documentation for it anymore. A lot of the sound packs call for some scripting in monkeyterm that I'm not totally comfortable with yet, though it does make a mud beautiful to play if you can make it work with that client. ___ Gamers mailing list ..
