I would also like to mention although I havn't played these for a bit.
starwars lego games, and abes odeyssey are playable as long as you play in a
team mode like single player as team.
then it works quite nicely.

Re: [Audyssey] audio wrestling game

2009-09-02 Thread Johnny Tai
Heh, though I don't hardly play videogames anymore, I still have fond memory
of soul edge and tekken 2 and 3. I managed to get good enough at soul edge
that none of my sighted friends would play against me anymore.
Also was a fame of the king of fighters series, though admittedly I did not
excel in them, only a bit above average.
My regret is not being able to play the resident evil series by myself-
mostly I just let someone else control the character and I acted as
puzzle-solver rofl.
Anyway, I agree that while hard, most of these sighted fighting games are
more than a little accessible- long as one puts some time into practicing
them.
The one thing that always frustrated me was when my char got switched from
one side to the other- since all the controls were then reversed, it took me
awhile to re-orient myself.
Not to mention most of my friends learned to use that weakness against me
rofl- keep switching sides, and Johnny's killable!

Michael,
I think all of us on the list understands that. Most of us on list are
totally blind or at least legally blind. I am totally blind myself.
However, just because we are totally blind doesn't mean all mainstream
games are completely unplayable. As many of the people on the list have
suggested some of the Play Station wrestling games are fairly accessible
once you memorize the menus, what buttons issues certain moves, etc. No,
you might not be good at it at first, it does take practice, but many
totally blind gamers on this list have founda way to play several
mainstream titles.
Anyway, I just thought you might like to know that just because you are
totally blind you don't need to think every single mainstream game can't
be played. That's simply not true. It is just harder to play than one
specifically created for a totally blind player.

Hi Michael,
If you want a wrestling game like that your best bet is to buy a PSP or
Play Station so you can play WWE Raw vs Smackdown. The WWE Play Station
games aren't 100% accessible, but they are playable if you practice with
the games. There are some people like Brandon on this list that are able
to play them so it is possible.
As far as making an accessible audio wrestling game such as you describe
it is a massive financial undertaking. Plus keep in mind if I were to make
such a game I couldn't legally use real wrestlers, intro music, etc
because of copyright laws. So for several reasons I couldn't really create
anything that compares with a game like WWE Raw VS Smackdown or WWE
Legends.

from the past and have entrance music when your wrestler comes out at the

another thing that people want in a wrestling game is the sound of

wrestlers getting in the match who don't have anything to do with the

mode and fight for the different titles inclue the women title and have
the different women matches i don't think that anyone want to set up the

season mode that last for awhile and who ever makes the game they can
have an online mode where you play against other people in a season mode
and have a offline mode for those who want just to play against the
computer have a level setting such as begining easy normal hard expert
text base games are good but people want interaction with the games or if

to play them so it is possible.
As far as making an accessible audio wrestling game such as you describe
it is a massive financial undertaking. Plus keep in mind if I were to
make such a game I couldn't legally use real wrestlers, intro music, etc
because of copyright laws. So for several reasons I couldn't really
create anything that compares with a game like WWE Raw VS Smackdown or
WWE Legends.

someone getting slam on the mat and the floor something else that
wrestling fan want is wrestlers talking and wrestlers getting in the

people want to be able to go through a story mode and fight for the
different titles inclue the women title and have the different women
matches i don't think that anyone want to set up the season themselves
that why an audio wrestling game should have a pre set season mode
that last for awhile and who ever makes the game they can have an
online mode where you play against other people in a season mode and
have a offline mode for those who want just to play against the
computer have a level setting such as begining easy normal hard
expert text base games are good but people want interaction with the
games or if someone would take the text base wrestling game they can
take and put sound to it and music to it aswell

michael, it whould take a lot of time to create a audio game like that,
and in my opinion a text game is enough for having fun (in the
computer).
if you want something very similar to what you sayd, buy a ps2 thats
cheap and get smackdown2009, storymode, lots of types of matchs to
choose from, entrance music, commentator, etc.
or if you have a ps3, buy ufc undisputed, very good game...

Re: [Audyssey] audio wrestling game

2009-09-01 Thread Ryan Strunk
Hi Michael,

Before I respond to your post, I would ask--and this is just a
suggestion--that you put some punctuation marks into your posts. It was
really hard to read that with JAWS, as the voice kept dropping and dropping,
lacking a period to start things fresh. I'm not saying to be a grammar guru,
but the occasional period or comma will make things much more legible.

As for wrestling games, there hasn't been anything like that developed at
the moment. I think a big reason for this is the time it would take to
create something like that. The other reason is that you would be nailed
with any number of copyright violations. Not only could you get hit by the
WWE, but you'd also be infringing on every wrestler's name. Max Payne's
developers had this happen to them.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel, though. Lots of people on this
list have had success playing mainstream wrestling games. I know that a few
years ago Brandon Cole did some audio demonstrations of himself playing one
of them. I think you could find some good stuff if you went the mainstream
route.

Hope this helps,
Ryan
