Thanks Dark. Someone on the list had mentioned that the Infocom games that were available had the invisiclues built into them. They had given a link, but the link was dead. Maybe I just read the description the member gave incorrectly. Thanks for the link. Re: [Audyssey] Infocom games
Ifarchive actually doesn't have many of the games, due to the way (I believe activision?) took them over. I know there are sights that have all or most of them, but ifarchive isn't one. - Original Message - From: Thomas Ward thomasward1...@gmail.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Date sent: Wed, 12 Sep 2012 13:43:39 -0400 Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Infocom games Hi Keith, Sure. There are invisiclue booklets written into game files, but they are not the game themselves. Basically, you can get two different files, one is invisiclues and the other is the game. - Original Message - From: Keith ks.steinbac...@gmail.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Date sent: Thu, 13 Sep 2012 02:49:57 -0500 Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Infocom games Thanks Dark. Re: [Audyssey] Infocom games
Hi Dark, Shrugs. All I can say is I got almost everything Infocom has made from ifarchive.org. I got Arthur, Wishbringer, Station Fall, Leather Goddesses, Hitch Hikers of the Galaxy, all the Zork games, and several other Infocom games from their not long ago. I don't know anything about their policy other than I was able to get them from their. So perhaps whatever policy you speak of has changed? Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] Infocom games
Hmmm Tom, this is odd. I've done a general search on the if archive directory, and there is still no games catagory listed in their infocom directory, and I couldn't find arthur or leather goddesses in their games/zcode directory. According to Baf's guide to the if archive, things are still the same, and only some shorter demos such as minizork and specifically released free games are available, , see http://www.wurb.com/if/company/1 I did once see several old infocom titles available on the textmode site (sadly no longer available), a general archive for old dos titles (where I originally got fallthru from), but other than that, the only place I've seen a full selection was the iluminian site I mentioned. Beware the grue! (quite literally). [Audyssey] infocom games
I thought the big problem with playing Infocom games was finding accessible versions of the print material that you had to have to be able to continue further at a certain point in the game. For example, In Station Fall you had to be able to read the coordinate chart to set course to the space station. Without that you could not play the game. Is there a repository of blind-accessible documents for Infocom games? --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can make changes or update your subscription via the web, at http://audyssey.org/mailman/listinfo/gamers_audyssey.org. Hello Lisa. there's no way I know to convert the infocom games, but they are directly playable in windows via the win frotz interpretter for interactive fiction, and run absolutely fine under windows. You can find win frotz at http://www.microheaven.com/IFGuide/IFGuide.pl?step=6c=0 There are various places to get win frotz, even a version with in built ms sapi supported speach so no screen reader required.
