hi kieth.

I think you might have a crossed wire somewhere. the invisiclue site just!
had the invisiclues, but is unfortunately not working.

The actual download site for the games however is absolutely fine, (I just
checked it), you can get them on http://if.illuminion.de/infocom.html

Thanks Dark. Someone on the list had mentioned that the Infocom games that

but the link was dead. Maybe I just read the description the member gave

Thanks for the link.

Re: [Audyssey] Infocom games

2012-09-13 Thread john

Ifarchive actually doesn't have many of the games, due to the way
(I believe activision?) took them over. I know there are sights
that have all or most of them, but ifarchive isn't one.

There are invisiclue booklets written into game files, but they
are not the game themselves. Basically, you can get two different
files, one is invisiclues and the other is the game.

Hi Tom.

last I checked the if archive wasn't allowed to host the classic infocom
games, because of the copywrite monster! never mind that it has been
literally 20 years sinse there was any kind of release of the games and the
only thing done with anything to do with infocom by activision was selling
the Zork trademark to jolt online for the utterly terrible legends of Zork
game that has now closed (thank goodness).

Have if archive changed their policy?

Re: [Audyssey] Infocom games

2012-09-13 Thread dark
Hmmm Tom, this is odd. I've done a general search on the if archive
directory, and there is still no games catagory listed in their infocom
directory, and I couldn't find arthur or leather goddesses in their
games/zcode directory.

According to Baf's guide to the if archive, things are still the same, and
only some shorter demos such as minizork and specifically released free
games are available, , see http://www.wurb.com/if/company/1

I did once see several old infocom titles available on the textmode site
(sadly no longer available), a general archive for old dos titles (where I
originally got fallthru from), but other than that, the only place I've seen
a full selection was the iluminian site I mentioned.

Beware the grue! (quite literally).

[Audyssey] infocom games

2008-02-17 Thread Allen
I thought the big problem with playing Infocom games was finding accessible
versions of the print material that you had to have to be able to continue
further at a certain point in the game. For example, In Station Fall you had
to be able to read the coordinate chart to set course to the space station.
Without that you could not play the game.

Is there a repository of blind-accessible documents for Infocom games?

 Hello Lisa.

there's no way I know to convert the infocom games, but they are directly
playable in windows via the win frotz interpretter for interactive
 fiction,
and run absolutely fine under windows.

You can find win frotz at
 http://www.microheaven.com/IFGuide/IFGuide.pl?step=6c=0

There are various places to get win frotz, even a version with in
 built
ms sapi supported speach so no screen reader required.

You can find the self-voicing version of win frotz on
 http://www.whitestick.co.uk/text.html

 hth.
