Hi, I suppose at some point Liam may have to do just that, but for now I think contacting his parents using sales records or whatever would be the better way to go. Re: [Audyssey] super leeum and dragon warriors
Here's a sure way of finding out. If anyone on the list has the game, look at the sounds folder. Check if the file names are named the same as in Super Liam. I think if you change files names in a game and attempt to play it, will crash. So if anyone has a copy of this game, and it works, verify the file names. - For an amazing video gaming site containing original soundtracks, game art, etc, go here. http://gh.ffshrine.org?r=16426 - Original Message - From: "Sean Mealin" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'Gamers Discussion list'" Sent: Sunday, January 14, 2007 3:55 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] super leeum and dragon warriors > You said: > Leeum if I were you I would find out who this kid's parents were and have > a > lawyer send a nasty cease and decist letter to them and their son leeting > them know that legal action will follow if he doesn't stop portraying his > game as his own intelectual property and does not remove it from the web. > End quote > > Before you do that, (witch might be a little extreme) find out if it is a > sure rip-off. Re: [Audyssey] super leeum and dragon warriors
Well, i assume if Liam warns him he'd lie to him as well. The sad thing is that there is no point in saying "it is my game, i wrote it" when that is not really true, i don't think so that he made a perfect super liam clone. Maybe he's so childish to understand what he's doing. If i were Liam, i'd definitely try to contact him either by phone or anything else which could work. It worth a warning, although i said, he could still lie. A weird situation which (if it is really super Liam) i don't wish to any game developer. - Original Message - From: "Charles Rivard" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>,"Gamers Discussion list" Date: Sun, 14 Jan 2007 15:49:28 -0600 Subject: Re: [Audyssey] super leeum and dragon warriors > In this case, wouldn't this be a good time for a warning and to find out > his > intent? Re: [Audyssey] super leeum and dragon warriors
Ivan is not distributing anything at this stage, so a cease and desist letter isn't really the way forward. If he releases something and the code can be proven to be Liam's then he's committing a crime and it's time to take legal action. In the meantime, copying someone's ideas is not a crime and if he's using Liam's code as a way of demonstrating and testing some sound files with the intention of writing his own code (or licensing Liam's code) then he's not technically done anything wrong. He hasn't got a website and isn't distributing anything so I think it's a bit too early to involve the lawyers. --- Azabat Software: accessible games for visually impaired beginners Web: www.azabat.co.uk Email: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Tel (UK): 07740 777 364 International: +44 7740 777 364 -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Yvonne Alaniz Sent: 14 January 2007 20:38 To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: [Audyssey] super leeum and dragon warriors Here's my two cents worth on this issue. Re: [Audyssey] super leeum and dragon warriors
I think that is an excellent suggestion. The pod cast has been removed, and certainly if developement and publicising of Ivan's game continues, legal action on Liam's part might be a good idea, and I for one would support him in that type of thing. However, it does seem that this issue is taking up a lot of time energy and space on the list that could more profitably be devoted to good old fashioned game discussion. Of course, everyone is entitled to air their own opinions, but if Ivan is indeed in search of attention then it seems from the amount of controversy created here he certainly got it, and I think it's quite sad, considdering that as has already been mentioned, the audio gaming community is a pretty nice bunch of people. Okay, well I figured the gathering of proof was a requirement before taking any legal action. Yvonne Stressed out? Need to relax? Call Yvonne and schedule your massage today! You said: Leeum if I were you I would find out who this kid's parents were and have a lawyer send a nasty cease and decist letter to them and their son leeting them know that legal action will follow if he doesn't stop portraying his game as his own intelectual property and does not remove it from the web. End quote Before you do that, (witch might be a little extreme) find out if it is a sure rip-off. Get him to give his source code to a 3rd party, to definitely see if it is a copy. I am not defending him; I am just saying get hard evidence before doing anything drastic. Also, people might want to take this off list before the moderators step in. Here's my two cents worth on this issue. You are all being drug into this because this kid wants attention. If he can't get positive he'll take the negative. I am sure most of you have been to this web site and downloaded this fraudulent game. That just gives him the attention he wants. Leeum if I were you I would find out who this kid's parents were and have a lawyer send a nasty cease and decist letter to them and their son leeting them know that legal action will follow if he doesn't stop portraying his game as his own intelectual property and does not remove it from the web. These are just my thoughts. Maybe his parents have no idea what their kid is doing in which case they should be informed because they will be responsible if he is a minor. Yvonne Stressed out?
